  1. Okay so I got a call from Dr. Mirza's office and they told me that my insurance will cover the procedure, but that they are considered out of network for my provider. Now I am sure that they will answer all my questions when I have my first visit with them on the 10th, but I am curious to know what this means for me. I have a higher deductible for out of network providers, so I am not sure at this point if I want to go in for my appointment with the office. I did some research and found that he is a great doctor, but I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on something that my insurance has agreed to cover. So does anyone further along in the insurance process know what this means? Will the hospital charge me more as well? Do you know of any great UHC network doctors in Houston? I would love to keep Dr. Mirza, but I just can't see myself paying thousand's of dollars more than what I would already have to pay.
  2. Well wishes for your surgery! Yes, his team is awesome. I went to them last year 2012, but was declined by UHC, now I have UHC through another employer and I am covered! I guess I will find out the difference at my appointment. Hopefully it's not too much of a difference. But on paper through my insurance, I added up a difference around 4,000 just about.

    Any Buddies in Houston, Texas?

Many Many great well wishes for your surgery on Monday! Keep us posted
  5. I am actively considering the sleeve procedure. I am researching extensively. I have insurance that will kick in on 01/01/14 but I think there might be an exclusion in my policy. Is there anyone from the Houston area that can tell me if they paid cash and what is the price? I would even travel to another state in the US. I am saving Mexico as my last resort but it is still an option. Any info would be appreciated.
  6. Thanks! being excited is an understatement!
  7. Hello All, Thanks so much for all of the suggestions. I even looked up Borland and Umbach. But today, my insurance was verified and guess what... I HAVE COVERAGE!!! I am so happy that I wont have to self pay. I have a Pre-Op appointment on 01/10/2012. I will keep everyone informed probably in another thread or topic. Thanks again everyone!
  8. Hello All, I am looking for anyone in the Houston area that is considering the sleeve for either here or in Mexico. I want the surgery sometime in February or early March. If my insurance does not approve me, then I will be heading to Mexico to have surgery there with a reputable Dr. Maybe we can support one another locally!
  9. Is there anyone here that had there surgery in Mexico and was able to do follow up visits in the states? Are there any doctors in Houston that anyone knows of that is willing to take on patient post care?
  10. All I can say is WOW! You look great!. This is certainly inspirational for me to see. At 11 months post op, you are doing an amazing job. And that dress is fabulous! Well done and keep up the good work!

    OMG I'M BORED!

How awesome that you are ready to exercise! And the elliptical no less! I imagine that I would want to build up to that intensity after my surgery because although you might feel good on the outside...you just had a major change on the inside and your stomach needs time to heal. But I guess if your doctor says it's okay, then it's okay! Good Luck to you!!!

    Leaving for San Diego tomorrow

Good Luck and keep us posted! I am sure you will do great! By the way: What hotel are you staying in? I am considering my surgery in Mexico.
  14. I too am looking into Mexico so I don't have much insight to share with you on that just yet. Here in Texas the self pay cost is too much for me. I wouldn't trust financing if your credit is not good. I have read some horror stories on these forums and on the internet about certain companies that do poor credit financing. If you have good credit, I recommend going through a bank for a loan. Best of luck!
  15. Good luck to you! When is your surgery?

Long Term With The Plication ?

I was wondering the same thing, about the long term effect of the staples! I will follow the post to see if anyone else can shed some light on the situation.
