Well, I went for my 5th adj. today. The Dr. was not there so his nurse did my adjustment. I was a little nervous at first but she did a good job. Seemed to take her a little longer to hit the port and that was a little painful. I asked about the size of my band and they didn't seem to want to go into those details. The nurse said that they like to go on how the patient feels and reacts to the adjustments and not how much fluid they have put into my band. I didn't push it. I was so dissappointed that I had only lost 2 lbs. since my last appointment. I had lost 4 fat lbs. but gained muscle from exercising so by my scale weight I only lost 2 lbs. That sucks. I will continue to stick to the diet and hope that I will start to drop a little more by the next visit. Still have not reached under 200 lbs. a couple lbs. to go. I only hope to do better next month.

Well I've been banded for 4 months now and I too crave milk. I have a glass every morning with a flavored non fat mix. I also like to have a glass in the evening if I have a sweet tooth..I just mix in non-fat choc. mix and it's great. I never have more than 2 glasses a day and my Dr. recomended only 1 glass a day of 1% or skim milk, I choose 1% milk.

I am a foster and adoptive parent and I see a lot of girls in my home town that just keep having children and the kids are being taken from them for the state and people like me to keep them up. As a foster parent of a child from 0-5 years you get a total of 14.00 a day to care for these children. I have one child that has 5 siblings and all 6 are in foster care. I want to say people like this should be forced to have their tubes tied or something but I also have to keep in mind if it were not for these people I would not be a mother.

February 2008 Hello May 2007 Banded Friends
Nettie replied to cmacinga's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry to hear that your not moving as fast as you would like with your weight loss. I too am discouraged with slow weight loss. I was just banded in Oct. 2007 and have lost 32 pounds but I am only loosing about 4-5 pounds a month now. I really expected to loose more quickly. The one thing I try to keep in mind... Without this band I wouldn't have lost 32 pounds, I probably would have gained more weight. So I'm happy with what I've lost and you should be to. 35 pounds is a lot of weight. I wish you all the luck in the world on your journey! Hope you get the weight off. -
Well, I have lost 31 pounds since Oct. 5, 2007. It's not coming off as fast as I would like, but the key thing is that it is coming off. I know I couldn't have lost 31 lbs. without surgery so I am happy with my decision. I am loosing about 5 lbs. a month. I'm exercising more now and that makes me feel better about myself. I've motivated a friend and she now exercises with me. I had my 4th adj. on Jan. 31st and I can really tell a difference in the amount I can eat. I have gotten sick a few times, eating too fast, not chewing enough, so I try to be really careful, but sometimes it happens. I know I will reach my goal, one day at a time! :rolleyes2:

I agree with you needing the proper restriction. I hope you find it. Good luck to you.

I am an oct. 07 bandster to. I just had my 3rd fill and finally can feel some restriction for the first time. I am having trouble eating some things that I could eat before, but shouldn't eat any way. So I think it just takes finding the right adjustment to get you started. I have lost about 28 lbs. and to me that doesn't seem like much compared to some on here. But I say "that's 28 lbs. I wouldn't have lost without my band, I may have even continued to gain without it." So just hang in there! -
Well, I go back to the Dr. tomorrow for another adjustment and follow up. I am a little dissappointed in myself, I don't think I've lost any weight since my last adjustment. I'm eating right but slacked on the exercise with the holidays. I know I have to make the time to fit it in and I will. That is my new years goal, exercise at least 4 days a week. I would love to join the gym again, but it cost so much! I have 3 little one's at home and by the time I get home from working all day I have to tend to them and that makes it hard to fit in the excercise. I know that's no excuse and I have to just do it, and I will. I need some encouragement! My husband is proud of me but he's not into exercising so I'm left to do it with my kids, which can be fun, but they give out on me or get bored with it. It's freezing here right now so it's hard to get outside at this time of year. I'm afraid my Dr. is going to be upset that I have not lost any weight this month. If I have it's only a pound or two, which would be better than none. I HAVE TO DO BETTER! ANY SUGGESTIONS??
-
Thanks for your encouragement!

Well, I went for my 3rd adj. and followup on Jan. 3rd. I only lost 5 lbs. this month, but was pleased I lost that much with the holidays. I didn't expect to loose any. I have now lost a total of 28 lbs. I am well on my way. I hope to loose at least 8 more lbs. before my 4th adj. I can tell I've been adjusted this time. I have gotten sick a couple times when eating. I feel so much better already and I still have a long way to go. I'm getting there one day at a time!

I went for my second fill last week and I could definately tell I had a fill. It's been several days now since my fill and I can eat a little more but still feel like I am getting full faster. My weight loss was only 4 and 1/2 pounds this last time. I think I've lost a few more since my fill. So I'm about 25 pounds lighter now since my surgery on Oct. 5th. I wish it were going faster but I need to exercise more. That's my goal after this week my life should start to slow down a bit and I can actually make time to exercise. I'm really happy with my decision to have the lap band. I know I have to keep working hard myself to loose this weight. I can do it!

I've been banded 8 weeks and a few days. I've had 2 fills and yes, I still eat bread in moderation. I do not eat steak, but I didn't eat steak before being banded. I eat a lot of grilled chicken and fish. Good luck to you!

Well, I had my first fill and now I feel like I can eat what ever I want and I know I can still eat way too much at one time. I did pretty good over the Thanksgiving holiday. I don't think I've lost very much weight, if any, since my adjustment and I go back to the Dr. next week. I want to go on liquids this week to see if I can loose more weight. I did great the first week when I was on liquids. Not sure if this is a good idea but I feel like I'm failing due to my slowing progress.

Well, I had my first fill and it was not bad at all. I can feel the restriction now. Hope I start to loose more weight now.

Ok, I was nervous for nothing. I had my first fill yesterday on 11/6/07 and it was not bad at all. I feel more restricted, I can tell when I drink. But it feels ok, not too tight. I have lost 18 pounds in four weeks. :clap2: I'm happy with that. I think I could have lost more if I had not been so sick :sick and was able to exercise more. Maybe, I'm on my way now. I can start a good excercise routine and hopefully loose another 20 pounds before my 8 week follow up. We'll see. :phanvan I just know I feel much better already after just 18 pounds. I can tell a difference in my face with the weight loss so far. I love my band even though it's been a rough road so far. Can't wait to get to the new me! :glasses

I am scheduled for my first fill on Nov. 6th. I'm really nervous about it. I was sick last week, had some throwing up, due to an infection. Hope all is still well in there with my band, it worried me when I got so sick. But I feel better now and I'm waiting for my first fill to get here.
