I did not have insurance but I knew that lap band was right for me so I was self pay. I would do it all over again! I have lost 40 lbs. since October 2007 and I feel so much better about myself and my health! I hope that you will research to find a really good doctor. That can make a huge difference in how you do if you have the surgery! I wish you all the best!

I think childhood obesity is raging out of control. I know I struggled with my weight from the time I was about 9. My dad was verbally abusive about my weight and still is and I am 33 years old. There is a wrong way and a right way to talk to your kids about their weight. My 7 year old daughter can eat twice as much as I can IF I LET HER. I do not let my children eat more than they should because I'm afraid she will have to battle the buldge like I have all my life. She's learning to eat healthy by my new eating habits. She loves salad and things that are really good for her so we are learning to eat healthy together and I'm keeping her active! She plays softball and takes Tumble. We go on bike rides and walks together. I know from experience how miserable I was being overweight growing up and I don't want her to have to deal with those issues. I would suggest that you try to get your daughter active and help teach her the right foods to eat, even if you have to learn that before you teach her. That's what I've had to do. It's been 7 days since my 6th adj. and I still can't get solid food to stay down. I've been eating a lot of soup broth and I am hungry. When I try to eat solid food I throw it up (not fun)! :thumbs_up: I have lost a few lbs. in the last 7 days. I think around 4 lbs. I really am glad to get the weight off but I don't like being sick all the time and feeling like my butt is dragging 10 feet behind me. Thinking maybe I need to go back in for a slight unfill. If it's not better in the next couple days I'll be going back in to see my Dr. :thumbup:

I went for my adjustment today. I had lost 3 1/2 more lbs in the last 3 1/2 weeks and in the last 8 weeks I've lost 10 1/2 inches. I'm down to 199 which is under 200 so I'm happy!!!!! My weight loss has slowed but I'm still loosing slowly. I have a 10 cc band but I'm still not sure how much fluid is in my band. My nurse Brook did my adjustment today and she said everything looked great. So I just have to keep striving to reach my goal no matter how long it may take to get there. :thumbup:

Starting weight was 235 lbs. The first photo was taken the morning of my surgery. Now down to 200 lbs. 5 months later. -

My sister Brenda was diagnosed with Leukemia over a year ago. She fought and took treatments and she has been in remission for a while. She went back to the Dr. last week for her check up and her blood count was up again which can mean the cancer is back. She may have to take more treatments, not sure yet. She lost her husband 7 months ago when he went in for surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his kidney. He never woke up after surgery and she has had so much to deal with. Please, please, pray for her. She's a strong woman and she's a fighter, but she needs your prayers.
My brother in law - Larry is also fighting Cancer. He has been through 3 surgeries and is now taking treatments 5 days a week. He is very weak and he needs your prayers as well. Keep them both in your prayers.

I just read your post today. I hope all went well with your surgery! Surgery can be a scary thing but trust that God will keep you safe. He led me to this journey and he will lead me through it, just as he will you. Best of luck to you!

You know me in a swimsuit last summer is what pushed me to get the band. I was too embarrased to go swimming with my babies because of my weight. I'm down 33 lbs. so far and I know I'm going to have to buy a new suit, but I still dread it. Oh well, we will get there!!
