Well, I got the good news Friday 9/7/07. I have been approved and will be having my surgery for lap band on 9/26/07. :clap2: Only a few weeks away! I'm nervous but I'm ready!

Well, I had my consult on Aug. 28th went to the seminar on Aug. 9th. Went for upper gi test on Sept. 4th. Now I'm waiting for my surgeon to get back with me to schedule surgery. Seems like just a whole lot of hurry up and wait. It's frustrating, but I know it will all be worth it in the end.

I know it can't be easy working with people that can be so insensitive. If it is harrasment I would also advise you to go to HR and complain. However, if it is not harrasment I would say hold your head up high and just know that you are doing something about it! We all need to learn to love ourselves more. I know I do! Good luck with your surgery.

I am also self pay. My Dr. charges me 50.00 for the first year and then 125.00 after the first year for fills.

Well, I went for my upper gi series on Tuesday Sept. 4th. The Dr. said I have a small hyetal hyrnia. He said it shouldn't be a problem and I should be able to have the surgery but my lap band Dr. has not been over the results yet so I am waiting again to hear from him. If all is well, I can schedule my surgery. Keep your fingers crossed!

Well, I am new to this site and I have recently attended the seminar on the lap band procedure. I am scared to death to be honest :eek:. I am 32 years old and have struggled with my weight for many years now. I guess you could say I've hit rock bottom :faint:. I find it hard to play with my kids, I'm embarrased to go out to see old friends, I'm just tierd of the struggle. I decided that I wanted to make a life long change. Any advice I could get would be great. I have a consult scheduled for Aug. 28th. I pray this is the help and the answer I've been looking for. I'm willing and ready to do the work it takes and to make the changes I need to make. I just can't do it alone. I've tried and failed so many times now. I need :help:!

Well, My consult with Dr. Ponce went well yesterday . I am scheduled for my upper gi next week :speechles and once the results are in from that test, hopefully I can schedule my surgery date :clap2:. Dr. Ponce answered all my questions and I feel like this is the right decision for me. I am still very nervous :eek: about doing it, but then surgery is a big deal. I am praying for God's guidance and I know that with him on board I can't loose. Wish me luck on my test results! :glasses

Wow, thanks for the input. I'm sure that will help in making my decision. I went to the seminar and was scheduled the next day for my consult which is next week. I will be self pay so I'm hoping to get in quick, guess we will see. Again, thanks for the input.

Went to Lap Band Seminar on Aug. 9th. Was referred to Chattanooga since I would be self pay. Cost was over 19,000.00 in Dalton and only 13,800.00 + 250.00 consult in Chattanooga. Called and set up consult for Aug. 28th. Must pay the 250.00 day of consult.

Well, I have really enjoyed this site. I have found a lot of great information and things that will help me on my journey :clap2:. I have read some good :eek: and some bad :eek: things about the lap band but all in all mostly good. I feel that the only way I will ever know myself is just to go ahead and take that leap :omg:. I am from GA. I am new to this site.

I would like to know how you all are doing now. I have a consult with Dr. Ponce from GA. on Aug. 28, 2007. I would like feedback on any complications and positive's or anything else that may be helpful in making my decision.

I will be going for my consult on Aug. 28th and I have no medical insurance. I have decided to withdraw my retirement savings to cover the cost of my surgery. I look at it this way.... I am 32 years old, if I don't have this surgery I may not make it to retire. So yes, it's a lot of money, but when you think of all the other things we are willing to fork out the dough for, it's worth it! (I HOPE) It is a scary thought, but God will provide! :glasses

I have a consult on Aug. 28th with Dr. Ponce. I was just curious if anyone on this site has used Dr. Ponce for the Lap Band procedure? If so how was your experience with him and his team?

I am afraid to tell my family that I want the lap band procedure done. My hubby supports me 100%. I do have to say I will choose to do it whether they support me or not. It is my life and it is me that lives with the ache's and pains from day to day of being obese. I want this for me!

The seminar was great! Gave me that extra motivation I needed to help make my decision. I've been through 5 surgeries due to female problems and surgery just scares me. I just decided that after everything I've read and how I feel at 240 pounds is not acceptable to me anymore. I want to make a change and I am so glad I found this site. Thanks for your comments.
