After extensive a taste test, I bought 4-5 big bags of the vanilla Bariatric Advantage Protein Powder prior to surgery. I was thinking that I love the vanilla taste and can mix it with so many different things. So, soon after surgery, my taste changed, I couldn't stand that stuff:). I tried everything--even putting it in homemade ice cream:). I still think it's a good product--my taste just changed. So, the moral of the story is: don't buy too much Protein powder prior to surgery--whatver type you buy. Your taste may change.

Hello everyone! I had my sleeve done in June 2014. It was the best thing that I've ever done. Since June, I've lost almost 40 lbs. Since I lost 30 lbs during the 6-month medical diet--I've lost 70 lbs this year! I'm 53 now--was 52 during the surgery. So glad this group is active! Can't wait to read the Queen's blog!

Morning and thanks tiredmama for the 2 month aniversary reminder. It's wonderful watching the weight slowly disappear! I lost 32 lbs since the surgery and a total of 65 lbs since I started this journey. Yesterday, my husband and I rented kayaks and paddling around for a while--I wouldn't have been able to do that before surgery. Hope everyone else is during well. -
Question about hospitalisation post op
cybergirl5710 replied to knzt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did great with the sleeve, but I was in the hospital for 2 days. My surgeon tries for 3 days--I guess to make sure that you don't have complications. -

Cheating on Pre-Op
cybergirl5710 replied to mamaofmatthew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did I cheat some on the 6-month medical supervised diet? Yes! I'll admit it--I did. Did I cheap on the pre-op diet--I honestly didn't. While I don't place any judgement on anyone for cheating--I think that I stuck with the pre-op diet because I wanted my liver to be as small as possible--so it didn't get hit by the surgeon's knife:) I kept thinking about losing part of my liver--this kept me on track with the pre-op. Hope this helps. -

How is everyone doing? It's been a couple of weeks since I posted--however, I've been reading all the posts. I'm going back to work part-time this week. I've been doing really well. I'm amazed at the seemingly disappearance of my arthritis--I truly hope it never comes back. Like many of you, I've had a hard time choking down my protein shakes. Someone else on this forum had recommend this protein shake book at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Bariatric-Foodie-Perfect-Protein-Drinks-ebook/dp/B00BMVSSXW/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1406563665&sr=1-1&keywords=protein+shakes+bariatric This book is a blessing--her recipes are great! Hope everyone has a fabulous day! -

Wow! I don't have a follow up for 4 weeks! I started pureed food on July 7th. On July 10th, I progressed to soft foods. I tried the baby food at first for the pureed foods--but I couldn't stand it. So, I pureed some cooked chicken with broth as well as a baked potato on July 7 and 8th. I can only get down about 4 tbsp 3-4 times a day. (Supposed to do 4-6 tbsps 6 times a day) I was getting confused as to how much Water, Protein Shakes, meals, Vitamins, medicine I was suppose to take when--so I broke down and make an eating/drinking schedule. Hope everyone is doing well! -

Morning, June 30th buddies! Hope everyone is well today. I'm getting a little better and stronger each day. I got down 2 -- 8 oz protein shakes and 2 -- 6 oz bottles of water, a little bit of tea, jello, and a couple of sugar free pops. I found this blog with recipes for protien ice cream that I'm going to try--cold stuff if going down way better. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2010/02/protein-ice-cream-101.html Have a great day everyone! -

June 30th Surgery Date
cybergirl5710 replied to BrwnsugabayB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi June 30 buddies, Hope everyone is doing well! I'm getting very excited. Will complete the 2 week portion. Of my 1200 calorie diet. Everything went well--except for an arthritis flair up from eating the bread and yogurt on the diet. Once I changed the diet to eliminate those things--all is well. I've lost another 15 lbs! Stopped taking medications per surgeon's instructions and ready to start my liquid diet on Monday. Anyone else having arthritis issues? Have others had to stop taking meds before surgery? -

I'm on June 30th. I'm 52 and in the Atlanta area. Add me to the list. -
I'm Pre-Op and don't like them that much already. So, I tell myself it's a smoothie. I mix a little bit of frozen blueberries, a tablespoon of greek yogurt and sometimes (if you can tolerate it--depending on where you are with your recovery) fresh spinach. Put it all in the blender and it's a smoothie. You can't taste the spinach--it just makes it less protien shake--like.

4 week pre op diet ... why me?
cybergirl5710 replied to DarbiMolly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks DarbiMolly! I started my 3 week preop diet on Monday. Yesterday was rough--had a really hard time focusing and saying awake. Good to know that it gets better--that's what I'm hoping. I do agree that it's a great exercise to get ready for a new life. My surgery date is the same date as your 6/30/2014
