surgery on Sat and really nervous

Glad to hear that all went well. Every day you will feel a little better, walking will help to relieve the gas too. Get some rest, your body has been through a lot.

    Anyone try Whole30?

I am thinking of starting a Whole30 challenge again. I did it last summer prior to surgery with great results. This is the plan that my daughter and I used. http://journal.crossfit.com/2004/05/zone-meal-plans-crossfit-journ.tpl

    4th week after surgery

I do have some Miralax, my doctor recommended that when I called the clinic after about a week and a half. Just need to figure out how often to take it and find a routine that works. I try to eat mostly natural foods and avoid processed foods. Now that I am passed the liquid stage I can resume avoiding sweeteners and gluten, go back to my clean diet. That should help also. Might be time to start a Whole30 challenge again

    4th week after surgery

That's not good, Have you contacted your doctor's office or nutritionist? I'm having the opposite problem, seem to be constipated. Hope you feel better soon, I would try calling so you have a good weekend, maybe they can fit you in this afternoon.

    Dec 2013

I was banded the day before you. I am still having some gas, ok well more than some lol! I have also noticed that I am tired in the evening. I am usually a night owl! My husband thinks the fatigue may be due to eating far less then I used to so I just don't have the fuel. For the most part I have no problem with foods, I am doing a mix of mushy and soft foods. Hope you start feeling better soon!

    Incision Hell!

I am 3.5 weeks post op and I still have 2 steri strips that have not come off. The uppermost strip hasn't even started to loosen and my lower right has only a little bit left. As they loosen I have been trimming the tape so it doesn't catch on my clothes. I was in on Monday for my first fill and my surgeon wasn't concerned at all. Said they will come off in time. I can relate to your incision healing though. About 3 years ago I had gall bladder surgery. I had one incision that one morning when I woke up it was red and oozing all over my bed. I went immediately to my surgeon, the same one in fact, and he had to clean it out and put me on antibiotics. Glad you got in right away and got yours taken care of before you got to that point. I had no idea mine was even a problem until it burst open. So I have been extra careful this time around. Definitely no lifting, pushing, pulling and keeping my clothing free of the sites until they heal. Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck in healing!

    Connect on Fit Bit?

I love my Fitbit! I have been using it since about August. I think it is helping me to become accountable by logging everything I eat and tracking my steps. When I am able to get back to the gym I will be adding my workouts. I would love to add anyone as a friend on Fitbit, feel free to send me a request. My link is in my signature

    Which Protein?

I like Paleo Protein from GNC. I had been using it prior to surgery as a protein supplement after the gym. It has a good flavor, I like the Triple Chocolate, I didn't care for the Vanilla Almond as well. The only thing I have found with it is that it tends to have a lot of bubbles after I shake it, so I make it before I need it and then let it sit and settle. It runs about $34 for a large jug. It has 21 grams of protein 0 sugar and 120 calories and you mix with water. 28 servings so pretty reasonable per serving.

surgery on Sat and really nervous

You will be fine! I was so surprised that I was not nervous at all before my surgery. I think that I had just been to a nutrition class within two weeks prior and read again through my notebook from the Bariatric Center really helped me. We are all here for you, feel free to ask any questions and someone will answer. The hospital was very good about coming in and asking me my pain level and giving me meds if needed. Good luck, I'm here for you! Let us know you are ok after surgery.
  17. Thanks for your insight, both of you! I am so glad that I had started eating much healthier (Paleo) & working out 3-4 months pre-op. This makes it much easier to continue as I introduce foods back into my diet. My mind was already in the healthier mode, just needed one more tool to start the weight loss to kick in. My doctor cleared me for going back to the gym and starting out slowly on the machines, tomorrow will be my first day back. I'm sure that I will experience issues as time goes but for right now, all is well
  18. Happy New Year! Glad to be a part of a positive group with the same goals!

    Telling my family?

Glad to read all of your posts. I have been debating on what I want to do. Pre-surgery only my husband and 3 kids knew. 2 of my kids are very supportive and 1 is not, she thinks I am starving myself (she is a health nut with going to the gym daily). A couple of days post surgery I told my mom and 2 sisters. At Christmas my husband told his family, mainly because they noticed my weight loss and I was still in the mushy food stage. I have a few very close friends on FB that are all in a secret weight loss support group together and I shared with them. They are also part of my military mom support group, so we are always supporting each other in some way. I think that is all that I will share with, like you all say, it's my life and no one really needs to know.

    Dec 2013

I was banded on Dec 9 and just had my first fill today, 2cc. I am loving my band so far! I was one week into the pureed foods stage and even eating some soft foods without any problems. Back to full liquids for 24 hours then I can start back to foods again. Also cleared for going back to the gym, so I plan to hit the gym on Thursday. Just advised to take it easy yet on any abdominal exercises. I would like to get back up to where I was on the treadmill then start adding weight machines back in. Hoping this will help with the bloated look and start getting a little toning to my body.
  21. First fill 2cc, back to full liquid diet for 24 hours.
