Yes! It really helps that they had a buffet and there were so many good choices, bad ones available too lol! But there is no excuse not to get a good meal, just watch portion sizes. Have a great time on your trip!

  2. Glad to hear you are doing better!!! I don't know what your diet requirements are since you have a different surgery than I did. But I'm sure some of the principles are the same, sip lots of water/fluids and soft foods to start. Keep up the good work!!!!
  3. It just makes no sense what we have to go through. Good luck to you!

that is one thing that I noticed with the Flex but I think instead of counting the stairs your steps are counted in the total steps for the day. I had gotten mine before the Force came out, I have heard it is bigger so it may also depend on whether or not you will wear a watch or other jewelry on the same wrist. The clenched for me was that the force could keep track of your stairs climbed. I live in a two story and really wanted to keep track of that too. It's a bit bigger and I'm not quite sure if it's really worth the price difference but then again I've only worn mine for a few hours tonight once it charged and arrived.
  5. Getting ready to leave in the morning for a cruise. Recorded my weight this morning and looking forward to seeing how well I maintain or continue losing during the week when I weigh back in next week!

Have a great time. I love cruises. U can do great on a cruise in terms of health. Walk around the perimeter of the boat. Usually on deck 4 ..go to the gym everyday .and burn calories. Eat sensible. Don't make food. the center of attention. Go on excursions and stay away from alcohol.. You can still have a blast. On one cruise I vowed not to gain weight. I ended losing two pounds and enjoyed the cruise thoroughly.

The last time my husband and i cruised we ordered room service at least 5 - 6 times a day and ate ourselves silly. That was pre-WLS. I'm wondering what it will be like this summer if we take another. When you return if you have any times to help us cruisers not to overdo it, please share them!

Tomorrow I will be back home. Had a great time, watched what I ate and walked more than I ever thought possible. We took stairs instead of elevator when possible. I can't wait to sync my Fitbit and weigh in. Will post an uupdate tomorrow or Sunday

  6. I totally understand your frustration! I was in a similar situation but I had to make monthly doctor appts for 6 months. So I stayed at about the same weight, just fluctuating up and down. Just try and play their game and you will get through it.
  7. Congrats, glad to hear surgery went well! Rest, sip and walk
  8. I have had my Flex since August and I love it! About a couple of months ago I was getting a little skin irritation and switched wrists. I also stopped wearing when I showered and that helped. I have since switched back to my left wrist (non-dominate) and no longer have skin irritation. So I believe that moisture was the problem even though you are able to get the band wet. My daughter and I got ours at the same time, she took the small bands and I the large. But now I am ready to switch to the small so I am going to order some in different colors to change up the look occasionally

    Official: FitBit Thread

I had been using MyFitnessPal prior to getting my Fitbit and for a while I tracked food on MyFitnessPal and synced also but it got to be a hassle using two different apps so I migrated everything to Fitbit and use that exclusively. I love my fitbit; but I track my food in My Fitness Pal, which syncs with my fitbit. Much better database of foods. Sent from my DROID RAZR using VST

    Connect on Fit Bit?

Fitbit won't auto sync with all phones. It doesn't with my Galaxy Note 1 but I have the app on my phone and when I am home my phone and Fitbit will sync when I'm near the wireless dongle. Nice to have the phone app so I can log my food when I'm not at home.
  11. Welcome, I found you! :)

    Newly banded

That's good to hear! I was banded 12/18/13 and still can't bend over on my left side. Feels like I have a huge blob in abdomen and I am too afraid to push myself to bend. Maybe still swelling - I HOPE!

    Meal size

I bought myself a digital scale and I have been trying to measure everything. It has been very helpful since I now see that I had been eating more than I thought. This also helps when I record my food on the Fitbit website. Every person is different and your doctor/nutritionist will tell you how many calories you should be eating. My nutritionist called me a few days ago to check on me and I asked her how much I should be eating in a day. I am to stay between 800 and 1000 calories a day and 60-80 grams of Protein. So measure and weigh all your food so you know exactly how much you are eating.
  14. Looking forward to a new week. Last week had some episodes of eating too fast or too much at a time and getting that "stuck" feeling. Guess everyone has to learn sometime...

    Newly banded

I was banded on Dec 9 and I am still a little tender in that area, particularly if I bend over and my waistband is in the way. I had my first fill Dec 30 and I bruised from it so that probably isn't helping either. My other incision sites are finally feeling normal. It takes time so as long as the area isn't unusually warm or red then you are probably ok.

    Constant coughing a problem

Like everyone else has said it could be the aftereffects of surgery, gas and your body's reaction to being banded. Just to make sure everything is ok, I would definitely call your doctor tomorrow. It's probably normal but it doesn't hurt to ask, they want to be sure that everything is good also. Let us know. Hope you are feeling better today.

    Rebanding tomorrow

    thank you!

    Rebanding tomorrow

Wow, glad that the doctor was able to repair what was needed and put a new band in for you. Take it easy as you recover from surgery and get back on your feet again.

Gain Weight in Order to Get Approval?

Unfortunately, insurance companies seem to be only concerned with the bottom line, your BMI number. They penalize you for being over a certain BMI with higher premiums but yet won't pay for surgery because your BMI isn't high enough. Makes no sense. I was in the same situation and it took over a year to get my surgery approved. They should be looking at your overall health and not just the numbers.

Glad to hear all is well! Each day will be better than the day before. Keep sipping and walking

    Getting banded tomorrow!

Good luck tomorrow! It's one day at a time and the first couple you will be tired and sore from the surgery. But make sure to ask questions and follow your discharge instructions. Let us know how you are doing when you get home. Today is 4 weeks post surgery and I am feeling great!
