  1. I'm scheduled to go back this coming Monday (my surgery was 12/30). I think I can do it, but am worried about being worn out at the end of the day.

To tell or not to tell?

I told my family (parents and siblings) because we think that when you go under general anesthesia, your loved ones should know about it. But I also said that I didn't really want to talk about it, and they've respected that. It depends on your family. My big concern used to be that the family will be super-supportive, and if I gain back, they'll judge me. Sometimes all the encouragement can be daunting. As far as co-workers, I work with an amazing bunch of people, and I told them, mainly because I knew the liquid diet was going to make me an evil demon woman, and I wanted to warn them. They've been really nice about it. Bottom line is that you need to do what works for you. Tell people as much as you're comfortable telling them.

    I am so hungry!

It gets easier after the first few days, but it's never much fun. The thing that helped keep me on track was the knowledge that by sticking with the diet, I was making it easier for my surgeon to do the work, and reducing the chance that my liver might get nicked. I have a great surgeon, but when you don't follow the diet, your liver is floppy, so it gets in the way more. That means the surgery lasts longer. Hang in there!
  4. I want to get back to playing Frisbee! Also looking forward to flying and not needing seatbelt extender.

    Is it just me?

I love your sleeve name!!! I felt like death on toast before my surgery... partly because liquid was getting old, partly because of the low calories/low carb nature of the liquid diet. As my doctor said, you're burning energy and it will be tiring. Hang in there, be kind to yourself. My darling husband got me some fun bath stuff-- bath bombs, bubble bath, salts... a nice soak in the tub helped with the aches (and with feeling colder than I usually do).
  6. Was this the first time you'd had puree'd chili? I'm on liquids still, but understand that sometimes you don't tolerate foods that you used to be able to tolerate.

    Questions

Mine are in capsules, but I was able to take pills with about a half ounce of Water after the surgery. I know each doctor does it differently. I'm okay taking pills (I take 2 each morning and 4 each evening), but I need to have one, then maybe a half hour later have another one... bleh.
