  1. Hi, I was just going through some old posts (the one about did you reach your goal weight) and saw that you are living in Malawi. I'm not banded yet but living and working abroad (specifically in Southern Africa) has long been a goal of mine. I'm wondering what kind of support you have there (for fills and things) and what you have planned in case of an emergency with the band (erosion, or slip or something).

Also, are you there for government work and if so did you have to pass a medical clearance for it? That's my biggest concern...I'm looking to join the Foreign Service or USAID but you have to be medically cleared for worldwide availability. They deny so many people for so many different health issues (for example, insulin dependent diabetics are denied because not everywhere has reliable access to those drugs and therefore the person is not medically available worldwide). I'm concerned that having the band will be seen as something that the person needs to be close to emergency medicine just in case of a band emergency and I'd be denied on those grounds. Any insight would be really helpful--and I hope that I haven't asked too personal of questions :)

    Thanks!
