  1. You are doing so great! I'm proud of you and your success!
  2. Hello all; I was banded in 8/07 and have had limited success. I was down 125 at my lightest but am gaining back weight quickly. I saw a new surgeon today who is confident that a revision/RNY will give me greater long term success. I sure hope so. If all goes well I will have the procedure done in about a month. I'm scared but hopeful. I wanted to reacquaint myself with this site so I could connect with others who have had similar struggles and experiences as I have. I am a food junky and I wish there was a magic spell to change that! I need to stay focused and enjoy what I can in moderation of course. Has anyone else found success with a RNY after a lapband?
  3. What works for me at lunchtime is a little tuna salad with some pita chips. This way I get my Protein and it's not too terrible. I also pack a yogurt in case the tuna isn't enough but it typically is. I also bring a bottle of Isopure to work every day to sip on. That's the only way I'd hit my 60 grams of protein/day goal. There really isn't much variety in my diet yet. I like hummus too, and canned chicken isn't bad either. Take care!

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

So far so good on my end. I got banded on August 15 and just today I started craving actual chewable food. I'm trying like hell not to cheat tho, but I did eat a noodle. God! A noodle! The nerve! Hahahaha. I'm down 21 pounds also since pre-op which thrills me but which also seems a little fast? I dunno. I can definitely see it in my face if not elsewhere. It's a great start! I want to eat food but I'm just not hungry. Each morning I have my shake (this morning I used a no sugar carnation packet, Silk, and unflavored Protein powder for 32 or so grams of protein total -- it was a little chalky but palatable nonetheless). Then another liquidy thing for lunch and of course dinner. I throw some Jello and popsicles in the mix for a treat. I've also been sucking on Dove low sugar dark chocolates. Just one here and there -- it's nice to have a treat. I hope the time goes fast. Even if I'm still not feeling terribly hungry, it will be nice to be able to use a fork and knife to eat again. Hehe. Good luck to all!

  6. Judi- Thanks for posting this menu! I was supposed to start full liquids on Sunday, but I'm still a little hesitant as my stomach feels like it's in my throat most of the time. But....In preparation I also bought a Magic Bullet and ricotta cheese -- that sounds soo good (when I feel up to it). The past few days I've been living on the EAS lo carb hi Protein drinks (I can only drink half of one at a time), Isopure (ick!), and weight watchers smoothies to get a little dairy in as well. So far so good on this stuff, but I'm still not at all hungry which I suppose is the whole point! Keep up the great work!

    August 15, 16, 17th bandsters

I also got banded on Aug. 15. Doing really well today. I spent one night in the hospital although I really didn't feel it was necessary. I have pain yet on the port side, but most everything else has subsided. I think the worst part of the ordeal, for me, was the sore throat. I can handle the rest. I've been drinking my liquids and having my jell-o. I hope to start my walking regimen again tomorrow as I think I'll feel up to it. I went grocery shopping and errand running today -- felt really good to get out of the house. Good luck to everyone!

  9. I am now 2 days out. I'm not hungry at ALL, but, figuring that I should be drinking something, I have been mostly having: Water broth from progresso Soups (tastes better than plain chicken) Isopure (from GNC) Special K Protein water (I like the strawberry kiwi kind) Jello Edy's Fruit Bars (popsicles) -- the sugar free lo carb stuff The liquid diet does not bother me at all -- I've been ready for it for some time. I honestly do not care that I'm not hungry or that I don't crave food. Isn't that the point? It's discouraging to read about how frustrated people are with the liquid diet. Honestly, we all knew it was part of the program going in. Time to grin and bear it.
  10. I just had my band done on Wednesday (2 days ago). I'm thrilled!

    Young one from TN!

Good for you! I'm 29 (scheduled for surgery this Wednesday) and how I wish something like this was an option for me when I was still in my teens. I am incredibly happy and excited for you! All the best!
  12. Hello everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself -- my name is Melissa and I'll be having surgery on Wednesday, 15 August. I'm thrilled to have been approved insurance-wise (which was the only hold-up I have encountered) and I honestly can't believe that in less than a week I'll be well on my way to a new me! I'm going to check out this site a bit more thoroughly. I don't know yet what my challenges are going to be. I guess I'm not really looking forward to the liquid diet but I'll manage . Has anyone experienced a really significant weight loss in the first few months? It'd be nice to drop a few pounds early on .
