islandgal65 replied to nancy264's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You guys are lucky, my surgeon put me on a 3 week pre-op diet. 2-3 protein shakes a day, one meal consisting of 6oz of lean protein and non starchy vegetables and either a apple, orange or pear 2x a day for a snack. -

Did anyone else not do a full 2 week preop diet?
islandgal65 replied to Justicenga's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to do a three week pre-op diet. Just started my second week. Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch. dinner consists of 6oz lean protein and salad or non starchy vegetables. Apple, pear or orange twice a day as a snack and another Protein Shake if needed as a evening snack. I could have the meal for lunch but I chose to have it for dinner, that is when I am the hungriest. Not to bad of a pre-op diet, I have lost 6 pounds the first week. -
I have UHC Oxford and I had to have six months of documented weights prior to surgery. I have my last weigh in April 1.

Best Psych Evaluation today..kinda funny!
islandgal65 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my psych evaluation today, what a blast I had. I did not have to take any test. She asked me a few questions and the rest of the time we were discussing Greek food. She found out I am Greek and continued to tell me about how much she loves greek food and the places around here that have the best food, Then she continued to tell me about her son in college. I think I know more about her than she knows about me! I also had a nutrition visit, she was wonderful and very helpful! -

First Surgeon Consultation Today!
islandgal65 replied to islandgal65's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you Teachamy! I have a tentative schedule date for April. I do need the 6 month weigh ins, but the surgeon is including the seminar I went to in December and the January appointment as two month of weights. I have to check with my insurance since it is new (11/1/13), that there is not a 12 month waiting period. I do have a certificate of coverage that shows my prior coverage with a different insurance company and there is only a 60 day lapse between the 2 policies. Getting ready to get all my appointments done, one good thing is that I don't need a sleep study!! -
Hi Everyone, I am having my first surgeon consultation today at 4:30. I am so excited to get started. I guess I will find out all my requirements today, just hoping I don't have to do the six month supervised diet.

Hi Sasha287, yes I am having the Gastric sleeve. I have Oxford Freedom Plan and I live in NY, and from what I have read they are pretty good when it comes to WLS. You were lucky to only have to do 3 months. Do you have a surgery date? -
