Day 4 pre op

Gee whiz, day 4 and I can't wait to get my band. I need the restriction, this optifast doesn't do a very good job of making you feel full. I do alright in the morning, around lunch a little :hungry: to say the least. I have my shake and make it through till arvo, and that's when I really struggle, so tempted to have something with some body to it. Early evening I have some vege soup and if I need it I fill up on water and diet cordial for the evening. That's how my days have been going, such a full time effort getting through, and that's while I look after my 4 and 1 year olds. They do help sometimes to take my mind of food. Anyway these were my starting numbers Dr Bowden Brisbane, Australia To be banded on 9/10/07 :whoo: Starting weight for diet pre band 25/9/07 -127.4kgs Bust - 52 inchs waist - 54 hips - 61 thigh - R -33, L-31 calves - R-18 1/2, L-18 1/2 arms - R-18, L-19 See you later, thanks for listening

    my pre op journey

Hi its day 3 for me, and I've lost a total of 3kgs so far on the optifast. :car: I suppose you could say I'm pretty happy with that. I wonder if I can keep it up for the next 11 days until my op on the 9th of Oct. Yesterday I had my headaches all day, and this morning I woke with a headache again, I'm hoping today is the last day with them. I find myself constantly thinking about wanting something to eat and having to make myself think of something else. When adds come on tv about food I just close my eyes, it helps. It is getting easier I feel at day 3. My hubby has his brithday party on the 6th of Oct, a couple of days before my op, now that will be a challenge. I'm trying to stay away from the shops as it is to much of a temptation for me anyway.:help::hungry: By for now.

    Day one of optifast

:hungry:Well this is day one of my optifast and I have to say, its hard, hungry and I've had headaches all day. I did expect them as I have been on optifast before. What made it harder was having to give my little ones their meals knowing I couldn't eat anything. Plus my husband was cooking steak and chips tonight and it smelt so good but I was good and just walked away. Today when I would normally reach for a snack, I found myself thinking was I really hungry or bored or actually just missing that habit of eating. The headaches should go in a day or two, I hope, because it really doesn't help things. Going for now, until later

  6. Hey Karen, it's Penny here. I start my optifast on the 25th Sept for 2 weeks. No I haven't read any books, I've totally been going on info from the web and from my mother in law, who was actually banded by Doctor George Fielding at the Wesley in Brisbane, but as far as I am aware he is in New York working at this point in time. MIL has been a great help and source of encouragment. Where abouts are you and could we maybe exchange email addresses. Hugs Penny
  7. Hey Karen, Thanks for replying to my questions. I've read your thread waiting2b banded, and some of the things you were saying about having friends, but not really anyone you could talk to, sounds so familiar. They don't understand the feelings and emotions we are going through in this stage while waiting to be banded. My husband loves me to death and has always been there for me, and has never, never said anything to me about losing weight, he loves me for me. Something my family all my life has failed to do, even myself, I suppose I have failed myself to just accept me for me. Well he's even sick of hearing anything to do with the banding, maybe you understand the need and the excitment to know as much as I can, and to read and see as many success stories as I can. I'm kinda in a bad space at the moment, I'm scared about how successful I will be, if I see all the photos of people before and after enough maybe it'll convince me enough that, that will be me one day. Because like you said it seems so sureal. Penny

    Newbie Here from Australia

Hi striver, I'm another aussie in Brisbane, Queensland, to be banded on the 9th of October 07. Now I have to say that I'm with Medibank, and they said as long as its a health issue, it would be covered. I've been with my fund for 6 years, so my gap is about $6,500. My Doctor is Dr Bowden at the Wesley, and he's a lovely man and his staff couldn't be nicer. I'm 32 and I've done everything, just like everyone else, this is my last resort, I have two beautiful kids that I don't want to leave behind, and without this help I know I will keep losing this battle. So I am so excited and scared about this new life, but also know it is nessasery to have this healthy life. Hope to here from everyone about their feelings and experiences they are going through with their bands. Brispenny31

Lets get this PARTY started! Oct 07!

Hi everyone, I'm to be banded on the 9th Oct 07. Looking forward to it so much, but I don't feel I'm getting a very supportivereaction from my family when I told them. My aunt had the band done and lost a lot of weight, but has seemed to put some back on, and my family are thinking the worst, that she is cheating and eating to much and the wrong foods. I'm so tired of my family and friends expecting me to fail again even with the band. They should just want whats best for me. By the way, I happen to be from Australia, but I understand this is an American website, is that right.

banding 9/10/07

BMI 45, 275lbs

I'm actually going to start winning. I'm sure some people can relate to that feeling of, it's actually going to happen. So excited but scared at the same time, can't wait. penny
