Permanent Long Term Weight Loss
bluegudren replied to drgthemd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm well adjusted. But it took over a year to get here. I do not exercise. I do not weigh my portions. I drink alcohol. I do not regurgitate my food. I am losing 6-8 lbs a month. I'm happy. And I do not beat myself up about what I put in my mouth. Average meal is 1/3 cup 5 times a day I eat protein mostly. I tolerate salads as well. No bread. -

I'm a year and a half PO. My BF has nicknamed me "The Jet Stream". It just keeps on going! Good thing I have my own office with a closed door! -
Argh! That moment when... (only a bandster would understand)
bluegudren replied to send2steph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When yall get stuck do you find yourself in the bathroom with your face in the toilet upchucking what got stuck? Does that eventually damage the band or does it just make you sore? This happens to me several times a week sometimes. And then never for a month. -

One year, second time with a cold. This shouldn't be happening!

No not really. I went in for the radiograph. Band is good and in place. the informed me that I am still not filled enough from the last time they took it all out in August, so there is no real risk of a clog this time. But I have to keep drinking hot liquids 4-5 times a day to make sure. On liquid Azithromycin (Z Pack). That stuff tastes horrible. Went to a different office today than the one I usually go to. I was way more impressed. They seemed more proactive with the fills so it's not as slow as I have been going.... I am encouraged again. BE CAREFUL when you start to get sick!!! If you are in the green zone, you may run a risk of getting clogged with mucus and have to be un filled completely like I was. -

Have radiograph today at 2. This sucks. Second time in one year. I am self pay. So after my surgery date of 12/16 my "yearly warranty" is up! I have only lost 50 lbs. not sure it's been worth it. When that hole gets clogged they pull it all out. You have to start over and you gain. It's so depressing. -

First time my hole filled with mucus and they had to completely unfill my band. I had to start over. 4 months later, another cold. Not so severe. I drank hot liquids to keep the mucus out but now it feels as though everything is in the wrong place inside me. Minor pains on my side and center above stomach. Like it came undone from coughing and sneezing. Is this possible? I don't feel the normal hiccup when eating. Weird. Any suggestions? -

Having the flu and tightening of the band. Need help.
bluegudren replied to bluegudren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was the timing of the mucus in my stoma and uncrushed antibiotics getting lodged. Pretty sure. Still un filled. Gained back 10 pounds the last 18 days. Joy! -

I went back in to get another barium X-ray to see if my band has returned to the 1 o'clock position. It has! Very happy. But they won't fill me back up for 2 more weeks. In these last 2 weeks being un filled, I gained 8 pounds. So much for my green zone happiness. -
Starting from scratch... But with a WAY better attitude this time!

I go back Monday to see if my band went back to 1 o clock position. Praying that the mushies helped. I have had no sliming and no vomiting. It's been nice. But I have sill have this respiratory infection. I have been reading in this forum and have read that being too tight can cause reflux induced pneumonia. Does anyone now about this? -

Well hello, Texas ladies! I was over filled 3 months ago. I didn't say anything bc I was finally losing. 10. Pounds a month. Steady. BUT I paid the price. Vomiting and sliming and choking on my own spit through the night. They ended up un filing me 2 weeks ago and I have been on mostly mush, except for the delish prime rib I ate yesterday. Since the un fill I haven't vomited once nor have. I had any sliming. Scared to get on the scale. Guess I will see it on Monday. The x ray showed an enlarged stoma and the band was starting to slip to 2-3 o clock position. I am praying. That. Come Monday it's back in its original 1 o clock position. I have a very hectic life, and I do not make good food choices. I hate chicken breast. And I love ranch dressing. And i am from NOLA with 2 years in culinary school. I am a foodie! This is very hard for me. It was easier when I was vomiting and losing. But since that is not the way this is supposed to work, I. Have to start over as well. If I. Can get. In the green zone, lose steadily, and not vomit, I would be happy. But it seems that the losing is paired with the vomiting. What are your thoughts on this? I know there is a happy place. -
I am un filled as well at this moment. I became .sick with a respiratory infection and mucus clogged my hole. Noting was going down. Not even water or the barium when the did the x ray. They un filled my band since my stoma was enlarged and starting dilation. Been on mashies for two weeks. Going in on Monday to re check. My symptoms were obvious. Major constant sliming. Even with water. Vomiting every thing. When I would lay down, anything I had drank, even after waiting an hour, would seep up from my esophagus and I would end up choking in my sleep. It was horrible. Listen to your body. Always.

Short sharp karate chops to the shoulder blades will get rid of all the gas pains immediately.
