    Medications

My "band date" is this Tuesday. I was told to stop all my meds except my Lexapro 48 hours before surgery. Apparently, Metforman causes problems with anaestia. I was also told to bring all my meds with me and to purchase a pill cutter because I will not be able to swallow the Metformin as it is today.....I pray I will not need the Metformin after a few weeks as I've just been a diabetic since June. That's what sold the LapBand for me.
  2. Thanks for posting the "miracle". My band date is this Tuesday at 7:30am....I'm on an emotional roller coaster right now...I have IBS and pretty much know every bathroom in Maryland!! I'm told banding will also help this problem. I've been on the lean and green the past few weeks and must say I feel much better. I just told my husband I'll need apricot's after my two week liquid diet!!
  3. Hi Everyone! My "band date" is November 18th. I had my "last super" for lunch today. Tomorrow I meet with the nurse for a two hour mandatory "what to expect" meeting and then the surgeon tomorrow afternoon. I have so many emotions running right now. I'm scared, more of the acutal surgery than anything else. I haven't been in the hospital since the birth of my son who's 18yrs old.

    ~november bandsters~

    Me fishing in September 2008

You look wonderful! I've kept up with your messages on the boards. I hope everything is going well. My banding date is 11/18 at St Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. I live in Howard County. I'm on an emotional roller coaster right now.....happy and scared at the same time. You are a true success story!!!
  6. Hi everyone! I was a little disappointed today when I called the surgeons office to check to see if my HMO had approved me. I found out my file hadn't even been sent yet!! Even if I am approved quickly, the surgeon can't take me until early November. I have a really big project coming up November 15th so I'm afraid I won't be back to work in time.I would have to be back to work no later than 11/12 and work throughout the weekend/ I know,,,get to the point. Has anyone here been banded during Thanksgiving week? I'm afraid I would ruin everything for my family and myself if I have the surgery 11/24....any thoughts? I'm afraid it will really play on my will power to be on clear liquids while everyone around me will be eating turkey. My surgeon said I should allow anywhere from two to four weeks for recovery. Thanks

    Hello from Maryland

Welcome, I too live in Maryland. I'm currently waiting for approval from my HMO (CareFirst, Blue Choice). If CareFirst is you HMO....good luck getting any answers from them. They have the worst cutstomer service I have every spoke with.....I've found if you call 7 different people, you will get seven different answers. The HMO required 6months documented supervised diet (on line didn't count). Believe it or not I did get a straight answer on that question. I'm getting really excited. Dr Singh at St Agnes will be my surgeon. I went to the support group for lap band patients even though I'm not banded....it was really helpful! Good luck on your journey!

Carefirst - Blue Choice Maryland - Fills

Hi Mary, Are the people at CareFirst Blue Choice out to lunch? I called yesterday with general questions & was put on hold several times & was finally cut off (right!!). I even asked the person to jot down all of my questions so she could find out all the answers at one time! I can't remember if I asked this before (forgive me if I did) how long did it take once the info was sent into BlueChoice? I was so hoping to have my surgery next month since I have a large project due Nov 15th. How long were you out of work? Dr Singh (St Agnes)said anytime between two-four weeks.
