  1. Taco Time has a white chicken chili - a cup is only 150 calories and it has great protien in it. I do the Chipolte chicken taco's but only eat the insides....

I actually up my calories in a stall (with healthy foods) but I go up to 1200-1400 calories for 2 days, then back to my 800-1000 and so far it has worked. I think it gives a reset - at least to me. I also increase the carbs a bit more as an overall percentage of my fat/protein/carb ratio. I do 100-150gm of carbs for those two days I increase.

This was so encouraging. I have been heavy for so long, sometimes the thought of being smaller seems unbelievable. I was banded July 15th and hit 40# lost this am! So excited. Goal is to hit 50 by Thanksgiving! Thank you for sharing!
  4. I was on July 15th - so pretty close. It is slow and steady for me. I started at 263 and am at 229 as of this Saturday. Still not in the green zone so I still struggle with controlling my intake. However, I think I am consistently losing because I stay between 900-1200 cal a day and do zumba 2-3x a week. I am finally starting to see it in my clothes. Hopefully my next fill will get me out of bandster hell!! I think I am close because i do feel full when I remember to eat slow and focus on protein. Good Luck and let us know how your doing! PS. I must confess I had cheese pizza today.... extra zumba this week I guess...
  5. I have been contemplating surgery for a long time. I started with wanting the band but after speaking to the first dr I went to, he mentioned the sleeve. I did a bunch of research and followed boards and switch to getting the sleeve. I have just completed my upper endo, blood work, etc... surgery is scheduled July 15th. However, my husband has asked that I reconsider the band because he does not like the idea of 2/3rds of my stomach being cut out. I am 263#'s. Just looking for some good bad and ugly with the band, I was leaning toward sleeve because it seemed more of a "one stop shop" and not having to deal with fills, ports, etc... but I want to be honoring of him and make sure I do my due dilligence and if people are getting long term results with little complication with the device, I want to make sure I am doing the minimal with the maximum results. Thanks! I hope I explained my situation well. Any thoughts are appreciated. Why did you choose band over sleeve? Do you love your band?
  6. Surgery went great. Gas pains were awful but have mostly subsided. I could drink fluids very easily which I was happy about. Made it through the liquid phase. I have lost 19 pounds since July 5 (day I started pre op diet). Happy about that! Trying to work on - is this head hunger or am I actually hungry??? Questions: 1. My port incision is still sore and a bit hard - how long did this last for most of you? It sucks. 2. I am in the soft food stage until Monday but everything is going down really well and I have had no negative side effects. Question is, do I dare to try some more solids or should I wait? 3. When did you guys start adding some salad back in the mix? 4. its not a question, just a request.. I have 3 friends coming into town this weekend that do not know i had surgery, pray for me!! Thank you all for your advise and encouragement on here. This really is so valuable to me on this crazy journey!
  7. I am will be done with my preop diet tomorrow night and I did not cheat one time! Proud of me! I almost snatched that taco right off my hubbies plate last night but talked myself down, thought about long term consequences! Victory over the taco! My surgery is Tuesday and I am so excited and nervous! Ready to get this show on the road! Thanks for all your messages on here I have been so inspired by you.
  8. I live down by Portland but had my surgery done by Dr. Montgomery in Everett. I liked that he was a center of excellence. He took great care of me.
  9. I am scheduled for surgery on July 15th and then suppose to be a camp counselor 3 weeks later. Just curious is I am pushing it? I can pack food, but I am worried about lifting or what kind of restriction I should expect. Fortunately, there will be lots of help there but I don't want to push myself too far and end up worse off. Can you tell me what you were able to do or not due at 3 weeks out?

    serious second thoughts

I actually have a blood clotting disorder and have had 2 DVT (leg clots) and two in my lungs. I am on blood thinners for life. If you move and the will give you heparin after, your risk is minimal. Also if you do get them, it doesn't mean you automatically die. I am living proof. Watch for hot spots and leg pain, for signs of a leg clot; for the lungs it is usually a feeling like someone is sitting on your chest and both of mine I developed a dry hacky cough. You will be fine. With my history and a genetic predisposition puts me high risk and the dr will be doing everything to prevent them. The compression cuffs and shots after should get you through with flying colors and keep moving. Being sedentary puts you at higher risk after surgery. Best of luck.
  11. I have concerns about my job and having was. I work for a pork processor. Basically I sell bacon, ham, pepperoni, salami etc.... In my business, we are foodies and food pushers. I am concerned about events we hold that are all food, I talk about food all day, I'm around it all day. I also travel to 8 states and I have seen others with trouble while traveling. Any advice or tips to handle awkward situations when my job and everyone and me is pushing the goods?
  12. Couple things and looking for input.... My hubby is not supportive of this decision. Mostly because I am on blood thinners due to a genetic blood disorder. Anyone else have sleeve on warfarin? How did it go?
