  1. Maybe you could pretend you are pregnant and having morning sickness, in several months you will be thin instead of fat and you won't have a nagging teenager in 13 years. Sorry, sometimes a sense of humor helps, no offense intended.......can't your doc give you something? Mine did for nausea...
  2. Yep, Drs. are different. Mine will still be limited at 5 weeks. Good luck

    Pre op diet

It just depends on your doctor I guess. My doctor has impressed me with his thoroughness. He said the main reason for the pre op diet of two weeks was not so much to lose wt. although that was a plus, but to get me used to putting protein first and to shrink my fatty liver so he could still do laproscopic...
  4. I guess your doc is different than mine. Mine says to still have two shakes a day and I can only have 1/4 c protein food.....I had surgery Feb 26
  5. May I ask what you are eating to get that much protein??
  6. Heidi you and I share the same surgery date!!

    Holy COW!

The day before my surgery, I had my husband take a before picture of me. I have avoided cameras for some time now.I was downloading some other stuff off my camera this morning and I saw the pictures for the first time!!! I could not believe that was me!! Reality shocker for sure.....18 months ago I had fallen on wet tile and did the splits and tore my hamstring. Shortly after, I was DX with Spinal stenosis and fibromyalgia. I had to start with a walker and graduate to a cane for all that time, until about a month ago. During that time I not only packed on MORE wt but got extremely out of shape. Exercise is still hard for me.....baby steps

    Holy COW!

That was my only consolation. I had just a few bites of a grilled bison burger for super and I am full. I don't believe I miss anything as much as I do fresh fruit. Doc says not yet.....
  9. There is something wrong with our Health Care System. I checked the insurance claims and the HOSPITAL alone charged $85,932.93 for my surgery and 2 day stay. Thank God it was approved and of course they didn't get nearly this much from Tricare... amazing
  10. That does indeed. They are waiting for the paperwork cause they are too lazy to call the insurance and get #'s....

    Tips from success stories

Each doctor is different. I would say to follow your own doctors instruction closely, exercise and track your meals.....congratulations and good luck
  12. It has always been less for the self pay.....did I say that of that nearly 86K, Tricare paid them under $4500.00??
  13. A lot can change in 15 years but it was still too high I agree
  14. When was that? I thought that was excessive as well
  15. Good Morning.....I had my two week post op appointment yesterday. All was good....as of this morning, including the pre op diet, I am down 27.4 pounds.... He set my wt loss goal about 20 less than I would like, I don't want the air to go all out of my face, but we will see. Now I have to start the exercise portion and this doc should run a boot camp!!! I get to start soft foods today, 2 shakes and the 3rd meal is 1/4 c of greek yogurt, or soft soft meat etc. I am thinking some of the bison I made in the crockpot for my husband a few days ago, just cooked in water and seasoned. Doc says fine but don't be surprised if a few small bites and I am full. Funny how different doctors have different rules.
  16. Shmily, I'm so sorry you experienced such an horrific loss. I fear anything happening to my hubby. I hope time has helped you heal. Thank you, it has and I am remarried to another awesome man. I wrote a book about it, published on Amazon. I will message you as I don't want to get into trouble for advertising....
  17. I called my Dr. office and told them I had been approved, they called the Insurance and got referral # and scheduled surgery that day for two weeks away
  18. I forgot to say my hair was falling out from stress, and probably excess vodka as I crawled into a bottle.....
  19. I have WEN but almost 11 years ago, my husband of 32 years was suddenly killed in an accident, my hair began to fall out severely....i started using the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and it stopped. Good luck. P.S. Have you talked to your doc about it???

    Vitamin suppliers

I think one of the most important things is to look for the black UPH seal on the label

    Iced lemon water

For some years I had water retention issues, the doctor told me to drink lemon water. Just sayin'
  23. I am 5 ft 4 in and based on that the doctor says after the two week post op, I will need about 60 mg protein. Right now I am getting 90 and that in Premier Shakes is 510 calories
  24. I had to do two weeks and lost 13 lbs, I was back up after surgery but less than two weeks post op I am down 21. My doctor told me the purpose of his two week pre op diet is not to lose wt, but to get used to putting protein first and mainly to shrink the fatty liver
