Will I be able to get rid of my CPAP machine?
shmily replied to Bandista's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Did they do an endoscopy and stomach scope on you prior to surgery? If not, you may have a hernia... please do talk with your doctor about this -
I don't understand why this is here

We were on the beach for a week and this is the first time I have ever lost weight on vacation. I stayed on plan good. I tried to eat a Prawn Cocktail one night but they were so big, I was stuffed after eating only 3 prawn! Some days, especially travel days, it was hard to get all my Water in so I started retaining Fluid. My body decided to release the fluid on my trip home yesterday!! LOL We had a full kitchen there so I cooked for my husband and I had shakes. My only down fall I think was the wonderful fresh fruit.....I probably ate too much. But I did good and had fun

I do that too

Will I be able to get rid of my CPAP machine?
shmily replied to Bandista's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went to my pulmonologist April 28 and she was going to order a "smart setting" from Apria which is great as it enables a new pressure number without a new study. It hasn't happened yet. I am going to call her office tomorrow and raise heck. I have been sleeping w/o it for a few nights, NO snoring and I feel great but I will pursue her opinion -
My favorite!! Sams Club prices are about $16.00 for a pack of 12. In June they will start carrying the Strawberry Cream.

I have had good luck with it in the past. In 2003 my husband was killed and my hair started falling out bad from stress. I started using Nioxin and it stopped. I used it before and after surgery and my hair is starting to fall out, hitting almost 3 months post op. I will keep using it because it helps to encourage regrowth

What are some good ways to use Unjury Unflavored Protein powder???

I saw my surgeon today for the first time since my 2 week checkup. He was absolutely thrilled with my progress and the fact that I surpassed his first goal for me!! He said he recommends that his patients stay on the 2 Protein drinks a day as I would lose more weight that way. I told him I did not mind at all. I will get labs done at 3 mos and see him afterwards....Keeping my eye on the prize!!! Edited to say, We are leaving tomorrow morning for vacation. I guess it is time to pack!!!

I had to attend all the classes prior to surgery. Then I saw my surgeon at 2 weeks, the 2 mos, blood work will be at 3 mos, and I will see him at 4 mos and 6 mos. He set goals for me for the first year. Only blood work for the first year. I don't know after that. He knows I live 2 hrs from the support group and that I attend it here. LOL

What 2 expect on 2 week visit
shmily replied to windfaerie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hard to say as everyone is different and has their own way of doing things -
This has been addressed MANY times. If you do a forum search on Vitamins, you will find a host of information

So in sticking with my plan for the last three weeks, it was Friday morning and "weigh day". I was happy to see another 3 lb. loss to make 40 in 6 weeks. Then I took my measurements as I have done on weigh day and compared them with pre op measurements. I have lost 23 inches!!! I felt so good about me, that after hiding my body from my husband for about a year or so, I walked from the bedroom to the clothes hamper in the utility room stark naked twice!!! He just smiled and asked me if this was a parade or an invite!!! LOL

Lots to go but I see a big difference. The day before surgery and today -
I haven't even opened the unflavored I bought over 6 weeks ago. I also haven't had any mashed potatoes because I have tried to limit my carbs...

patience is a virtue I don't have
shmily replied to halfbella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was lucky. I got approved within three days of submission to insurance and that same day they scheduled me for surgery for 2 weeks later. You might ask to speak to the doctors medical assistant..... -
