  1. Hello Paula, I am from England as well, I live on the South Coast. Try not to get downhearted, sometimes I have wondered if my band is really there! Try and stop and think about what you are doing before you eat. Make sure you sit down to eat with no distractions and eat slowly putting knife and fork down between bites. Sometimes the band only lets you know you have eaten enough if you stop and make yourself aware of it. If you are really hungry between meals try and eat a banana as I find that helps me feel fuller. I have also found that persevering and eating the more difficult foods ensures I eat less and feel fuller. Don't feel like a failure, you aren't, you just need time to adjust. Having weight problems is an emotional rollercoaster and it is normal to have ups and downs. I don't know if any of my advice will help you as we are all so different but don't give up, and don't be hard on yourself Karin xx
  2. Hi I was banded in England privately on 31st March this year. I have had two fill which so far I don't think are restricting me enough. I expected that though as I had been told it can take several fills to reach the correct one for you individually. I lost 33lbs but have been static for a while now which is demoralising. Im trying to increase my exercising but am too self conscious to swim at the moment which is the only exercise I like that you can do in public! I am desperate to work with my band to succeed as it is my one real chance. xxxKarinxxx

Im new and I need help

Hi there, it sounds like food has ruled your life and most of us will understand that! If u think about the fact the band is removable you should not have one fitted. However, you dont give up on food with the band at all, u just feel full with a much smaller portion. I do think that the issues with food need looking at though as the band needs you to want to lose weight and to work with it. Good luck in whatever direction you take. Karin (england) x
  6. Hello there! I only found this site a few days ago. I live in England. Had my band fitted on 31st March 2007 and so far have lost 35lbs. Some lose fas some slower. How are you feeling? Karin xx

    Why pre-op weight loss?

yes the diet is aimed at shrinking your liver. This is achieved because when u are not eating much your body uses up glycogen which is stored in your liver. It also has water with it so by using it up the liver shrinks and is out of the way of your stomach. Karin xx:D
  10. Don't worry! I was banded 31st March this year. I initially lost 1.3/4 stone then very slow until i reached 33lbs. Had my first fill at 11 weeks post op and made no difference. Had a second fill on Weds and can still eat toast so not expecting weight to drop yet. My doctor says it is normal and sometimes you will put weight on. It can take several fills to get it right and they only really like you to lose 1-2lbs a week.
  11. woo u must be bursting with excitement I know I was! the liver shrinking diet is tough but very important so stick with it. I also got headaches but it is normal. good luck xx Karin xx

    Pain following surgery

Hi there I had my band fitted on 31st March. I also suffered with pain around my port but it is normal. My surgeon warned me about it. For quite a few weeks it hurt when i got up as well. This is because it is stitched to the muscle. It does get better but it takes a while. I only feel it now when I press it! don't worry it's fine x Karin x

Hi Jenn thank you for your reply! It is too early to say if the fill is adequate as im cautious today. I have 2.5mls in at the moment. I have not lost weight for a few weeks now so I'm hoping this will get me moving again! x
