  1. Hi there we are a very positive bunch and try to help as much as we can. If there is anything you want to talk about or just vent, this is the a forum to do so.
  2. First fill was yesterday and I thought it was going to be WAY worse than it was.

  3. Thank you soooo much for the support. It's very comforting to not only have my family but also everyone here as a support system.

    Before the Band

    From the album: Before

Here I am in April 2013 at my heaviest 252 lbs. I was visiting my son's school in California and would get so winded walking up the smallest hills. I was so embarrassed at how out of shape and overweight I was. This trip made me realize I needed to get healthy.

    Feeling not so Groovy

I went through the same thing last week so I know how you feel. The pain is making you wonder if you did the right thing. Trust me the pain goes away and you'll get your strength back. You are doing a fantastic job. Just relax and let the healing process begin. I promise you it does get better. The hunger pangs you feel will go away. First and foremost just relax you just underwent a a major surgery.

    Disappointed With Weight Loss

Don't you really have to ask "Who funded the failure study?" For every good scientific study there are at least 2 negative funded by opposition. If the band has such a high failure rate why get it? Or better still why did you get it? I'd like to think we are all intelligent people that researched every aspect of this procedure, the good, the bad and the not talked about parts. Just be supportive and let's help each other not hurt. (Jumping off soapbox)

    Head Hunger

When I started this journey I had no idea what emotional eating was. I read somewhere that men eat when they're hungry and women eat when they are bored. The dietician told me to ask myself when I get hungry "Am I really hungry or is this just an impulse?" Most of the time it's an impulse because there was a commercial for Friday's Babyback Ribs or Wendy's new burger. (On a side note, I've never realized how many food commercials are on TV until I decided to become healthy.) Just internalizing if my head was hungry or I was physically hungry have helped me out a grata deal. Also just because we've chosen to make a lifestyle change doesn't mean you can't have that cookie or that slice of cheesecake just limit the size of what you consume. The more you deny yourself the little sweet pleasures in life the more your body will crave it. Have one cookie and savor it.
  9. I can not believe the amount of energy I have 6 days post-op.

      Bandista

Congratulations! I felt great afterwards, too, and still do almost six weeks later. Relieved to be out of food jail, getting exercise and better sleep, weight going down bit by bit. So happy to have my band!

  10. I thought once my hernia was repaired the excess burping was supposed to come to a screeching halt (no pun intended). Feeling the air but it's not painful at all. Any additional information would be appreciated.

    No regrets?

All I can say is the only thing have to lose is the pounds. The loose skin is just a battle scar of war you have fought years.
  12. Feeling a million times better Day 4 post-op than Day 1.

  13. OMG you look amazing and so happy. Great progress keep it up!
  14. Baby your hubby and help him get well because you are going to need him fully recovered. Make sure he's comfortable and resting so he can start feeling better this weekend. Trust me you'll glad you did post-op. Good luck, a new healthier you is about to shine.

    Staples, Stitches, or Glue?

I have glue and with past surgeries (I had my boobs done years ago) the glue doesn't scar as much. Just depends on your skin type. Once the glue has dissolved I used Bio-Oil (the Walgreens version).

    Failure

Just get back on the lap band horse again and do your best. You can only fail if you stop trying. I believe in you so keep doing great things.
