I also was diagnosed with pseudo tumor cerebri a couple years ago. Having lost 100 lbs my symptoms are pretty much all gone. Still have to have my follow up appt with eye doctor though. Haven't ever heard of anyone else having this before. Good to know I wasn't the only one.

RNY 7/31- Feeling extremely regretful
jacileggs replied to jgarcia323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure all of us have tried doing it without surgery with no success. That's why we end up having the surgery. I don't regret it for a minute. But I didn't have any complications either. Hope you are doing well and will come through the other side with great health. Take care. -
Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Gastric Bypass Jan 21, 2014. Down 100 lbs total in last 13 months. Currently wearing a size 8 pants. Loving life.

Wowzers. Didn't realize it could be so costly. Luckily in Alberta it was covered entirely by our provincial health plan. I had looked into banding in Great Falls Montana and it was $15000 US. Glad someone informed me of our renewed policy covering bariatric surgery here. Plastics however will not be covered so if I do that I will have to self pay.

Have you considered a possible lactose intolerance? I developed it post op and felt like crap until I figured it out. It has since lessened and is almost gone. Could be a possibility as it is not uncommon after surgery.

Updated mine. Getting so close to goal!

How long until you went back to work?
jacileggs replied to Sreeves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took six days off. Desk job. Was tired at the end of the day. But was able to get in my protein and liquids each day. Pain was minimal. Didn't require any painkillers by then either. -

Help having an emotional week
jacileggs replied to Nstocker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing really helps with the hair loss. It will stop eventually. Mine was immediate after surgery until about 6 months. Everyone has their own specific protein requirement. Mine is 65g. I think it may be based in your height? -
Any Born Again Christians?

What is the difference between a born again christian and a christian? -
Never. You don't die from saggy skin. You can die from obesity related health conditions. I'll those the saggy skin any day. Although I do hope to have plastics some day.

I am a single mom with two kids at home. My kids, even the one who lives with her dad have been my biggest supporters. From attending preop appointments and driving me 5 hours round trip for surgery. As well as helping with shopping and chores and looking after the 15 year old. Especially my 15 year old daughter who is my biggest cheerleader. I couldn't have done this without them all. It's rewarding to see them so proud of me. I am down 95 lbs and into a size 8. Loving life again!

Pre-Op Diets........ Why the variance?
jacileggs replied to LifSvr2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Different doctors have different protocols. Varies with your weight, bmi, general health etc. -
Lethbridge, Alberta here. Had my initial appt with bariatric clinic in Medicine Hat last August. Had bypass surgery jan 21/14. Not long of a wait here in southern Alberta. Calgary and Edmonton have a long wait though.

no longer morbidly obese
jacileggs replied to jtickle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's exciting. I too started at morbidly obese. Then obese now I'm overweight. 20lbs more to go until I hit normal. Keep up the hard work! -
How much weight loss per week is normal?
jacileggs replied to Drummergirl505's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. Don't get too high of expectations. Before surgery I saw those 3-5 lbs a week stats and was so excited. I however am a slow loser as I don't have a lot to lose. 6 months post op I am down 50 lbs. But I am happy with that. Still losing super slowly now. But it is still coming off.
