    Will I always be cold?

I'm laughing because Iive in canada. Where it is truly cold. I am 11 months post op gastric bypass and am still always cold. I've heard it takes up to 2 years for your body's internal thermostat to readjust to your new lower weight.
  2. You realize that underneath all that fat was actually a small framed person. It's still weird for me that I fit a size 6.
  3. I have lost 96% of my excess weight. Highest weight 250 lbs aug 2013 Surgery weight 210 lbs jan 2014 Current weight 144 lbs. Happy happy happy!!!
  4. Dance of joy! Congrats that's wonderful. Keep it up. You can do it!

I learned some things last night

Have you heard of brene brown? She's is an amazing researcher /author. Her recent book Daring Greatly is an excellent read. She Talks about putting ourselves out there and daring to be vulnerable. It has helped me a lot and I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling.

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

I am at 145 now. My goal is 140. 5 more lbs. Also stuck for about 3 months. Starting to slowly go down again so I hope to get there eventually. At 5'3" being 140 would make me "normal" bmi. Haven't been normal in forever. Lol. But I can share clothes with my 16yo daughter so I'm very pleased.

How do you guys eat out...

I order off the kids menu or seniors menu. Sometimes I will order normal size and take home most of it for leftover meals. I have managed some places to get a reduced rate for buffet when I explain the surgery to them and see how little I actually eat. But believe me that waitresses look at you weird when you ask for the kids menu. Yes I'm eating child sized portions!!!!!

    hands freezing

Since losing weight,I am always cold. We are having an extra cold week here in canada with temperatures hitting -25celcius. I do security in a grocery store and last night I had on FIVE layers of tops. A long sleeve undershirt, my heavy work shirt, two hoodies and my work jacket. All this for working inside. Along with mittens and long johns under my pants. I was still cold. I hear it can take a couple of years for your body to readjust it's internal thermostat. I am 10 months post op.
  10. Over the years I have accumulated several pairs of custom made orthotics. At some points I had severe foot pain. Having lost 103 lbs my pain is gone. I continue to wear the orthotics because I don't want it to return.

    Nothing tastes good

I found my taste buds changed ALOT. Everything was so sweet or just yucky. It does improve. I am now 10months post op and am pretty much back to normal as far as tastes goes.
  12. To sum up dumping in one sentence. I wished I would die. Not literally drop dead but that's how horrible it feels. Cramps, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness. Like when you have a stomach bug and can't decide if you should sit on the toilet or lean over it. I don't know about everyone else but mine thankfully lasts about an hour and it goes away. To be clear I have only dumped about three times and that's enough. I sometimes get close to dumping and that is bad enough for me. Similar symptoms but not as intensely horrible. No matter how vigilant we are we always have a chance that something won't agree with our tummies. Also one thing will be okay to eat one day and another day eat the same amount of it and it will make you I'll. frustrating but I'd rather dump than still have that extra 103 lbs.

    Serious question seeks serious answer!

I have never really chased big men. And when I was big no one really chased me. Now that I'm "normal" again I have guys hitting on me quite a bit. It goes both ways. Either people like em big or they don't.
  14. Peanut butter with about an equal amount of sugar mixed in it. Weird but I was hooked on it
  15. Yea! Good job. It's a great feeling isn't it?

    Depressed

It is your thanksgiving on Thursday? I'm canadian and we have ours in October. It was actually great. I made all the usual food for the family. I was able to have a little bit of most things. I am 10 months post op gastric bypass. The point of it was I wanted to keep our traditional family time/ meal special. And it was, even with an enormous fight among the teenagers the night before. You will be okay. It gets easier one day at a time. Keep on keeping on!
  17. I always thought I was fat. Realized that I used to be normal size. Until I got divorced at age 25 with 3 small children and had to start working full time. Depression was in full swing by then also. Now I am down 102 lbs. 8 lbs from normal bmi. Self confidence is back and I am considering dating again. So glad I am where I am now. No regrets.
  18. The fart thing though. No joke. It got me also once.
  19. I got sporadic compliments starting at around 40 lbs. Now that I am down 100+ lbs I have people noticing literally everyday at my work. Some of our patients even think I am a new employee. Lol. It never gets old.
  20. I am 10months post op bypass and I can count on one hand the times I have felt hungry. It's a totally different feeling for me now than before. I deal with a lot of head hunger though.

    Need advise badly

I may be biased but I say go for it. What ever happens will happen eventually anyways. Best to look after your health and well being first. That way you are able to be the best mom you can to your kids. Just curious though why you are afraid of divorce? Sometimes it's the best thing to happen to a person. Yes it's hard to go through emotionally and often financially, but who wants to be with someone that doesn't want to be with them. Personally I am much happier alone than I was with a husband that treated me like crap. I have been a single mom of 3 for 15 years and my youngest is 15. We can survive hard things. You are stronger than you think.

What kind of bathroom scale do you use?

Also love the fitbit aria scale. It wireless syncs to the app to track your weight.
