Stopped losing again!
jacileggs replied to richkatrina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plateaus were constant. I'd stay the same for a few weeks then drop several pounds at once. You will figure out your body's way of reacting to the surgery. It's still frustrating though. -
Poll: Would you have surgery again if you............
jacileggs replied to lovedXJesus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely. Even though I didn't yet have any weight related health conditions. My father has them all so it was definitely in my future. Glad I was able to prevent them from happening. Being skinny is a happy side effect also though. -

Our program here you must lose approx 10% of your initial weight to show that you are serious and capable of being successful after surgery. -

When to change clothing sizes?
jacileggs replied to beachgurl84's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When mine were feeling big I replaced them. I mostly shopped in second hand stores until my weight stabilized though. Going from extreme sizes (22 to size 5 for me) is a lot of sizes and can be quite costly. -
I can cross y legs

Small things like this make all the difference. -
I'm assuming your talking about the fat pad in the pubic area. I am 5 lbs from goal and still have quite a large one. I'm thinking maybe liposuction?

Does your stomach still growl after RNY surgery?
jacileggs replied to Padraigm613's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't generally feel hungry unless I haven't eaten all day which I hardly ever do as I eat regularly. My stomach does make some funky loud growls sometimes though. Usually when or after I am eating. Embarrassing sometimes. But if that's the worst thing I can live with that. -
Popcorn my most favorite snack!
jacileggs replied to Queen P's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am able to eat popcorn but just small amounts. Not the whole jumbo bag like before. -
Yes Maggie. There is a lot I can do now that I couldn't before. Went paint balling in the summer. I'm going to go skiing this winter. I haven't done that in about 25 years. It's exciting to be able to do things again. Even simple things like going downstairs to do laundry without getting winded. Lol

Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery

Are you okay? Do you have cancer? Because obviously the only possible way I could lose weight would be to get cancer? -
UPDATE w/ pics! 110lbs in 10 months!
jacileggs replied to hb5484's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The best part is the great smile. The new confidence and you care about yourself again. I'm just guessing of course but the pics remind me of mine. -
Can you ever eat "Normal" food again?
jacileggs replied to smoggie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I will be one year post op in January. I can eat pretty anything. Just in very much smaller portions. I avoid fatty foods and high sugar foods as they make me Dump or feel ill. Otherwise I'm feeling like I can eat fairly normally which was what I had hoped for. -
I had gastric bypass jan 21/14. I was 40 at the time. My life today is completely different than it was before. I am still single as I was for 15 years before but am now considering dating again. I have energy again! I average about 6000-9000 steps a day on my fitbit. Preop I was lucky to get 2000-3000 a day. I have self esteem again. I lost it for many years. My stats. Highest weight 250lbs August 2013 Surgery weight 210lbs January 2014 Current weight 145lbs. Largest pant size 24 Current pant size 5/6 I can share clothes with my 16yo daughter. I went paint balling with my family and had a blast. All in all surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself. I am living life again and loving it.

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed
jacileggs replied to Momma_D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost 40 lbs before surgery and the intake nurse at the hospital actually tried to talk me out of having the surgery saying I didn't have that much to lose. I literally wanted to hit her. She had no idea of what I had already gone through in my life of weight loss struggles. I had 70 more pounds to lose and wanted it to stay off forever. I was approved for surgery by the surgeon and by my provincial health care plan, so really it was no ones business but my own. And that's exactly what I told the nosy nurse in January of 2014. I am now 11 months post op and am at 145lbs. 5 lbs from my goal. I wear size 5/6 jeans and can share clothes with my 16yo daughter. As opposed to the size 24 pants I wore previously. So really, just because we are lightweights, doesn't mean we don't matter or that we don't "deserve" surgery. We have our own struggles and weight related health problems. ( we also have feelings too) -

Anyone having RNY near 220 lbs or less?
jacileggs replied to blackonynx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my journey at 250 lbs. I am 5'3 and 41 years old. I lost 40 lbs post op and when I had surgery I was 210. That was in January 2014. I am now at 145. And wearing a size 5/6. I can share clothes with my 16yo daughter. My weight loss after surgery was slow compared to others that had more to lose. I am very happy with my results and hope to lose 5+ more lbs. I am also considering skin surgery for waist, arms and legs as I am very self conscious about the extra skin. Also could use a breast lift as what little is left is saggy. -
Any one with previous or anticipated ex revenge?! With weight loss not with words :)

What % of your excess weight have you lost?
jacileggs posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Doing research online I found that studies show gastric bypass patients lose and average of 70% of their excess weight. Is that pretty accurate? What are your results?
