@"BLENDgirl". I take cymbalta for depression. My depression is pretty stable since surgery but I do better on it than off.

I have been approved for panniculectomy. It is covered by my provincial health care plan here in Alberta. So it won't cost me anything. Don't have a date yet though. I too am interested in people's experiences with plastics.

Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!
jacileggs replied to Eroper6's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hope everyone is doing well. I have been approved for panniculectomy. Very happy. I have lost 41% of my initial weight. Now just to wait for a surgery date. -
Definitely varies by dr and or blood work. I take 2 calcium 1 prenatal multi vitamin 2 vitamin d 1 vitamin b12 1 cymbalta These are required I also throw in 2 omega three oils 2 vitamin c So that's 11 a day for me a person that hates taking pills. I'm used to it now.

Does anyone end up in a bikini? Please be honest!

Go for the mankini! -
I used to have headaches almost every day. I had been diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri. Basically increased pressure in the brain causes tumor like symptoms. It's cause by being overweight. So when the eye dr basically told me I was fat that's when I looked into surgery. My pseudotumor cerebri is gone!!! Virtually no more headaches. One of the best side effects of losing the weight.

I have a desk job and took a week. I was exhausted by end of day but I couldn't afford to take more time off than that. And it worked out well anyways.

How old are/were you?
jacileggs replied to ELI.p.m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
40. Would have had it at 35 but they didn't cover it on my health coverage back then. -
The best feeling ever
jacileggs replied to Jessiegirl30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes! I love this also. Being able to shop at any store is amazing. I am now in a size 5/small. My new problem is they are often out of the smaller sizes and only have the larger ones. So I find myself in the exact opposite position I was before. But I'll take it anyday. -

Best advise I can give you is this. Never trust a fart. -
Accepting yourself loose skin and all!
jacileggs replied to amz85's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is a controversial topic. I am 1year post op and have lost 105lbs. I have an upcoming consult for skin removal surgery. If I can get it covered by my health care plan I will have it done. If not I will likely have it done anyways. It will just take a bit longer for me to save up the money. I don't have a massive overhang or anything. But my skin is very loose and majorly wrinkly. I have been single for 16 years. I have recently found my self esteem and started dating again. Nothing serious but I'm letting that be a possibility in my life. I am not comfortable with seeing my tummy myself never mind have someone else see it. So for me it is the choice I am making. For others it may not be an issue. What I love though is that this site is a supportive place for us all. No matter our choices we have supportive people in our corners, which we don't all have in our day to day lives. -
Did your success trigger people you know to have surgery too?
jacileggs replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have had four people ask me for general information and referral information since my surgery. And I am glad to be able to help them -
Being a single mom to teens I obviously told mine. You can't really hide it from people you live in the same house with. My kids were super supportive and even provided my transportation, did chores, nursed mom etc. you may be pleasantly surprised.

Did your shoe size change after weight loss surgery?
jacileggs replied to Okiebon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At least a half size if not a whole. Partly because I had to buy larger size to accommodate width. Now I can buy shoes anywhere that actually fit. -
The way I thought of it was I want to be around for my kids for a long time. I didn't have any current weight related co-morbidities either. But with my family history it was a given that k would develop a lot of them in the future. So I decided for myself that I wanted to be healthy and happy. And I am. I've lost 105 lbs. Size 6 pants. I have energy to do fun things with my kids. We have gone paint balling, skiing and we are going to the wall climbing center this week. I'm so glad I made the decision I did. You have to decide what is important to you and what you are willing and able to do to get there. Best wishes.

Did they give a reason? Is there any way they will re-evaluate their decision either now or in the future.

Welcome to the BariatricPal Singles Forum!
jacileggs replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Singles Forum
I like the idea also. Doubt I'll run into anyone local here though, seeing as I live in Alberta, Canada and there aren't many of us on here. And I don't do the long distance thing. -
Updated collage of photos between August 2013 and now. Down 105 lbs total. Living life and living it!

I am 13 months post op gastric bypass. I am currently 142 lbs at 5'3". The doctor has advised me not to lose any more weight as it would put me at risk of being vitamin deficient. I still have an amazing amount of fat for my size 6 body. I could honestly lose another 10-20 pounds of fat. I am still officially overweight by BMI standards. I'm offended and insulted. I do plan on losing at least the 2 more pounds that will put me into normal body weight, more would be great. I don't know how they expect people to stop losing weight when they still feel like they have more to lose. And no I'm not addicted to losing. I still have a lot of fat left. I do plan on having plastics but need to lose the rest first. My blood work shows my levels of everything are fine. But d and b12 are slightly low so they have added those to my daily supplements. Is anyone else in this same situation? Any advise?
-
Thanks baconville I'm glad to hear your results. I do plan on continuing losing as much as possible. Within reason of course. I would love to hit 125! I'm happy where I am if I don't lose any or much more. But I'd be thrilled to lose more.
-
They wanted me to set my own goal and I let them know early on it was 140. They didn't discourage me then from reaching that. It's only now that they say it's too low. The ideal weight for someone who is 5'3" is 125. So I have some wiggle room. I don't want to be super thin. I want to be healthy looking. Thanks for your input.

In answer to the movie question. At the theatre I work at if no one shows up within the first 30-40 mins we turn it off. We always start it though because sometimes people are just late.

It is normal. It may take up to 2 years for your body to readjust to having lost such a vast amount of weight. I am always cold. Living in Canada means I often have two layers of pants and between 2-4 layers of tops. I hope you live somewhere warmer than here. Lol

How long before you can have band removed?

When did you feel normal again?
jacileggs replied to Jazmundo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You will likely never feel your old normal again. As far as feeling good again. It may take several months. After losing weight you will have a whole new normal. And it's a great one.
