Any January 2014 Surgeries?
jacileggs replied to MekeC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The purpose of the liquid protein diet is to harden and shrink the liver making it easier to retract for ease of access to the upper part of the stomach making the surgery easier and safer. Also you lose 3-5lbs a week. -

I am from Lethbride. 2 hours west of Medicine Hat. So I won't likely have anyone visiting either. I should be there 3 days. -

Good way to think of it. But it's like having someone you love go away for a long period of time. You will miss them a lot. I am stressing about it already also. -
Suggestion: link to mobile app content instead of web app content if possible

Also would be nice if you could remove irrelevant sections from app. I'm having bypass and don't need or want to see the other types of surgery forums. -

I start my three week liquid diet on New Year's Eve day. I'm already feeling sad. Like I'm mourning food. I know we will all get through it. It definitely helps to know we are not alone. My surgery is jan 21/14 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. See you all on the losers bench! -

I have three week pre-op liquid diet. Four protein shakes plus six cups of calorie free liquids. Can also have up to two cups of celery, cucumber or spinach if I feel the need to chew something. Nothing else. I'm kind if nervous about it but I'm sure I will do okay. -
Hi guys. I am from lethbridge and am having my surgery in Medicine Hat in January. Glad to see some locals on here.

Not such a long wait. Initial appt in August and my surgery is January. Not that many hoops. Worth it to look into it. I was looking at $15000 in great falls. Glad I waited.

Hello. You do realize that alberta health care now covers bariatric surgery. You need a referral tithe bariatric clinic. There's one in Medicine Hat. I got my physician to refer me in June and I am booked for surgery jan 21/14. No cost other than travel. They do sleeve and bypass there. I was glad to find this out because I had actually borrowed the money to to great falls and have it done. The bariatric clinic has dietitians, therapists and nurses all at your disposal. It's a great place. Anyways I hope this may help and possibly save you some money.
