Where are the Mississippi Sleevers?
KajunGumbo replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have reflux occasional & take Nexium, but only like 3 times. Maybe try eating only one food at a time & see if you get reflux? That way you can figure the cause. I don't get chicken for 2 more weeks. I love my chocolate protein shakes, I also bought some flavorings do I can change them up -
I truly believe if we follow our food stages & walk/exercise, the weight WILL come off, have faith!
-
don't be discouraged. My instructions says if you have problems with a food in a step go back to the previous step for one week. Perhaps your not ready for dense protein like meat? Wait a week them try again, each of our stomachs are in different stages of swelling. Our insides are not healed yet. We will all get through this

thanks, I will

Excited to join the band to sleeve club !
KajunGumbo replied to DIVA519's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did very well with the band until I started with complications with reflux and pain at my band area. I didn't realize just how much pain I was having in my esophagus area until after surgery. I feel like an elephant has been removed from my ribcage. Also, so many of our band rules apply to the sleeve as well...small bites, no drinking with meals etc, I found it almost 2nd nature to move on to being sleeved. -
Day 6 Struggling Today
KajunGumbo replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only on 4th week and I can honestly say week one was absolutely horrible. I cried for 2 days and absolutely sure I had made the worst mistake of my life. By day 6-7 I was starting feel better and very hungry like you. But we are not supposed to experience hunger right? SF popsicles and unjury chicken Protein broth were my best friends and GUM! I Chewed more gum that week than I have in a year. It's day 6 and I want something with some substance to chew. I can't say that I'm starving I just feel like I want something to chew. In one breadth I feel next week is going to fly past and the 14th will be here before I know it then in the next breadth I'm like damn it 9 more days..... Who said WLS was the easy way out this is farrrr from easy. -
Where are the Mississippi Sleevers?
KajunGumbo replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am finally feeling like I'm eating real food, this week I was able to add eggs & fruit. No problems so far. How is everyone? -
Holy cow that first week was horrible, but I'm good now that I have been allowed more soft foods like well cooked veggies & eggs. I was never a cold breakfast person so the eggs were much appreciated,
-
Hi everyone, I'm 55 yrs young & sleeved March 10th. First week postop I cried & just knew I had made a huge mistake. Now I'm doing great, no pain & so far no problems with slowly adding foods back to my diet. I've been reading your posts & gotten some great tips!
-
I was so afraid I would not be able to eat them. I really have not had any issues with foods...so far
-
Your a week ahead of me so it's good to see what's going on with you, let's me know what to look forward to
-
Well said, I could easily eat more than 1/4 cup but I won't
-
my surgeon limits me to 1/4 cup of any food, must work, I've never been nauseous or in pain. I plan to stay 1/4 cup until I reach goal
-
I was able to eat egg today. I was afraid to try it because I love eggs so much & was concerned I would not be able to tolerate them, but it was fine. It was great to have a hot breakfast.
-
I had revision also but I believe we will all get what we put into this journey. We are each writing our own story.
-
Glad the scale moved. We all need to trust it will work & not let our emotions get away.

Susan tell us about your appt tomorrow

smart decision not to weigh, the weight we are losing now is probably water weight any way... JMHO
-
My doc said Sleevers can no longer experience hunger because the Ghrelin hormone is no longer there. Any "hunger" we experience is either gas or between the ears.
-
I see it in my bat wings lol
-
I use MFP to track my foods/exercise & weight, doesn't show up on here just on my blog. It also posts on Fb, I belong to a March 2014 Sleevers group on fb, great group of peeps on there too! DEE deekajungumbo.blogspot.com

I am following my Doctor schedule without deviation. I was sleeved 3/10. My schedule is spread over 8 wks. Each week he adds a few things. He advises not to mix foods until they have been tried alone. I'm pretty much where you are. This week he added well cooked soft veggies like squash, asparagus (tips only) & carrots. I'm so freaked out over leaks that I am progressing far slower than allowed, besides I have yet to experience any real hunger...just hunger between my ears
-
I'm a revision from LapBand also, how is your port incision? My surgeon also removed my stomach through that incision, it still has some swelling, for a while I swore my port was still there lol
-
I took those potassium pills before surgery, I crushed them up in my smoothies. Maybe you can crush them into your protein shakes?
