Calling all cheaters!!
HSH replied to guinessgirl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You asked if anyone had a 2 shake diet with a rich protein meal. I did. that is what my doctor ordered... So you have no reason to feel bad! -
All, I get my first fill next week. I have been feeling pretty good and have been trying really really hard to stay on soft foods, when I do eat solids, I chew like there is no tomorrow, I have decided to be perfectly honest with my doctor on Wednesday when I go to get my fill. I hope that I have not ruined my band, but if I have, then that is something that I will have to deal with. I will keep you posted on my progress. I also made an appointment with a therapist that specializes in post weightloss surgery issues. I figured that might help me. In addition, this sight makes for a pretty strong support system. I will keep you guys posted on the outcome. Hala

OMG! I was terrified of being put under, It was to a point where it concerned my doctor. You are not alone! I think that it is normal to be scared before any elective surgery. I almost walked out of there :-) I think the key is to be more excited about the surgery than scared of it. Keep reminding yourself why you are doing this. I know I was teetering at the egde there :-) With that being said, I think that medicine has come a long way, and although there are risks involved, they are miniscule. Make sure you talk to your anasthesiologist and express your fear/ concern. I am sure that he/ she will reassure you. And guess what? It will be over before you know it!

How sore was your abdomen?
HSH replied to guinessgirl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fine day 1 and 2 post op because I was on pain killers. By day 3 I was off the meds and hurting moderatley. I was back to work on day 4! I think that it varies from person to person, I have not had a C section, but since you have I think that you may have a higher tolerence for pain :-) Good luck to you! -
Thank you soooo much! It is so comforting to hear that!!! I really don't know what to expect when I go get my fill. How does he know what that band looks like?

Hey Brandy, I had the same concern before I got my surgery, I worked out frequently prior to surgery as well. I got my surgery 3 weeks ago. I started walking for an hour at lunch a week after my surgery and yesterday I went to the gym and had a full blown workout. I ran for 30 mins, did the eliptical for 30 mins and then worked my upper body and did squats and lunges. Today I am a little sore (as would be expected after not working out for 3 weeks) but other than that, I am surprised at how my fitness level did not decline as much as I would have expected. Hope this helps :-) Good luck to you!

Thank you all for your support, I guess I really needed to let it out in order to move forward. What about the fills? do they hurt? I have also read that it may take several fills before you feel satiety.

I only hurt once. I am able to take foods easilly. Yes, I am afreaid I am eating too much, and my doctor said that I was not suposed to eat solids till next week. I feel like a failure because I got this surgery as a last resort and here I am eating. I am just miserable!

1 Week 1 Day Post-Op...Down 35 pounds
HSH replied to Hip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I just got banded on Friday. It seems to be going well. I have not weighed myself, so I have no idea how much weight I have lost. I too regretted the day before and can't say that I am done regretting. I have not had any bad experiences, but I kinda miss food and am a little grumpy. I too took a lick of frozen youghurt and was full... HOW CRAZY. Sounds like you are doing great :-). Hope it all works out well... I am a runner (I have always worked out even at my heaviest) and the lack of excersise is really bumming me out. I injured my ankle (probably due to my weight) while training for a half marathon last year. I have not gotten back in the groove since. So today, I went on raceplace.com and decided to start trainig for a short race in November. I hope that I will be up and running (so to speak) soon. I am still fairly sore... That is my update for today :-)
