    Dr. Aceves in Mexicali?

Hi, Yes, I went to Dr. Aceves and he is wonderful...I have had no complications whatsoever. I have never gotten a fill though - but lost 25 lbs in the first 6 weeks and the band has helped me keep it off. Good luck to you, Paula

    Bajanor Obesity Center

Hi Islandmom, I almost went to Bajanour but could never get adequate responses from others who had been there to set my mind at ease. I changed at the last moment and went to Dr. Aceves in Mexicali because I got a good recommendation from others. What I had heard - from another respected Mexico clinic - was that the Bajanour clinic sometimes put in bands other than the Inamed without telling the patient this. And their experienced doctor is no longer with them (at least in late April he wasn't) I really like Dr. Aceves - the only drawback is that it's 2 hours from San Diego and while they provide transportation from the airport, it was just a hassle...if there's availability with a clinic in Tijuana besides Bajanour, I'd look into that instead. I paid 2k more than Bajnour's price but the peace of mind was worth it...I have had no complications. Good luck! Paula 4/30/05 214/190/155 No fill yet
  4. Hi Cindy, I had my surgery by him on April 30th...he was wonderful. I have had no complications and feel he's a good surgeon. Have not had my first fill yet...still have restriction and have lost 25 lbs thus far. I think God is allowing me to adjust to this amount of weight loss before I move on to the next 25 lbs...been dealing with the whole 'head hunger' deal and probably eating too much Fritos and ice cream...ahem!!! I was taken aback by the hospital - kinda had a 1950's feel to it - but it was clean and the staff was great. I would love to get my fills from him but don't relish the thought of flying to San Diego, then the 2 hour drive to his office. You will like him...he has much experience and pulls no puches - tells you this is a tool...and of course, he's right. Good luck, and keep me posted. Paula 04/30/2005 215/190/155

    Fill Dr. in Tulsa?

Hi, I was banded in Mexico and am looking for a doctor in the Tulsa area that won't charge an arm and a leg for a fill. Anyone know of someone they can recommend? Thanks, Paula Banded 4/30/05 215/193/155

    April Bandsters where are you?

Hi, I was banded April 30th and have lost 21 pounds...no fill yet...don't have one scheduled either as I'm still feeling restriction MOST of the time. Beginning to exercise some this past week - swimming in our pool now that the water's warm enough. It's been a learning process w/ the band but I think I'm getting to where the 'old-timers' are - "Love-My-Band-Land". Paula Dr. Aceves 4/30/2005 215/194/155
  7. Hi Kristen, Funny you should ask this today...I am 6 weeks post-op and have lost 21 lbs. thus far. Just last night my dh and I went out for our anniversary dinner and I was able to have a bit of everything - great bread, salad, potato, crab cake and filet mignon...along w/ wine. NOT huge portions of any of them but enuf' that I was satisfied. And when I started feeling full - I stopped. So no PB's or anything. It was divine. In contrast, I could only eat 3 bites of lunch yesterday before getting restriction and knew I had to stop. I haven't had a fill yet and at this slow, steady rate of loss / restriction, I won't for awhile. It most definitely is a new way of eating but I wouldn't have the band unless I NEEDED a new way of eating...there are adjustments you will make but to feel your clothes looser and see the scale inch downward, it is all worth it. Good luck! Paula 4/30/2005 Dr. Alberto Aceves 215/194/155

    April 2005 Bandsters

Hi, You all don't know me but I feel like I know you....I've been reading all of your wonderful threads and am so impressed by the group. So, I was banded last Saturday in Mexicali by Dr. Alberto Acevas who was great. I've been trying to adjust to all this liquid, periodic shoulder pain, and GAS! Reading all of your messages is really helpful. Thanks, Paula

Hi, I have been told the surgeon who will do this is Dr. Covarrubias....so far I can't find anything on him, but I have heard from a few people who say their experience with this facility has been positive. Anyone out there with any experiences to share on Bajanor and this doctor? Thanks, Paula
