Anyone having surgery in May
Bridget Jones replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I am 28 days post surgery - I am almost on normal food textures now - my hunger has gone I just feel a normal mild hunger and feel satisfied with small do lids. I take chewable vitamins and iron liquid and sanatogen protein powder mixed in a yoghurt. I eat a lot of crispbreads with cottage cheese that's delicious :-) As for dumping syndrome it takes many forms - I realised Sunday after being naughty and eating a cake (I was at a local tea and cake event) I got really bad wind pain then I could feel myself fading away - I managed to get home in time to literally go into a coma like sleep for a few hours - I'm guessing it's dumping syndrome im sure - and yes intense nausea accompanied it -mind you it's a great sleep lol I am walking about 4 miles everyday with the dog - I use an APP called walking mate to measure the goal of 10000 steps it shows how far you've walked in miles and calories burned and of course counts the steps I find it a fab motivator -but I'm quite tired most of the time - don't know why! -

I was given an anti sickness tablet that dissolves in your mouth im still taking that - I'm now 3 weeks post surgery - I had no pain at all except VERY painful cramps before bowel evacuation with diarrhea - These seem to have lessened now - I'm so sick of soup I have been eating a few bits to test myself - I font get sugar dumping syndrome and im just as hungry at night as I ever was - exercising self control not to buy cookies!! -

I'm having to really work at controlling myself - I actually did a bad thing and munched down a heap of chicken breast I was so hungry ( im two weeks out of surgery) but it got stuck and I was sick. That gave me a reminder but I've never had any pain since op was up eating and walking almost immediately - our diet in UK post op is weetabix cereal, yogurts and soups pureed type things - I'm desperate for actual food. I feel a bit dizzy and weak sometimes and I think it's lack of protein - you get to a point where soup or yogurts makes you wanna barf! I bought a bar of chocolate (sweet cravings haven't gone) and I ate a few squares but the overwhelming guilt made me throw it away but no sugar dumping syndrome for me either. All in sell I feel as though I haven't had any surgery !! -

I'm now over 2 weeks post op gastric bypass and im starving constantly - I thought my hunger was supposed to disappear -
I had my surgery on Tuesday - The odd thing is I still feel hungry and could still eat bad things - not that I've tried - it's odd im not sure how I feel about food - I'm eating weet a bit for breakfast - mid morning snack a yoghurt and mashed carrots swede and potato in chicken soup - I have about half a cup of that twice a day and later another yoghurt - when im drinking the delicious soup I feel like I could drink much more and have been like that since day 1 of surgery - is this normal?

Bridget, have you been seeing a psychologist? I've found that my continued visits have helped with my anxiety from certain family members disapproval. -

I did a bad thing I was upset cos my daughter was very nasty to me she has no sympathy for my fear or difficulties with pre op diet etc cos she says I brought it all upon myself - I fell into terrible depression so went and bought a Box of fudge and some shortbread biscuits and ate the lot :-( my op is Tuesday morning - I feel bad and very alone with no friends or family support - I have no family other than my daughter and my friends are in Australia :'( And im in England - I hope I haven't messed up my op by eating bad things. -

My surgery is May 6th, Im in England, and am feeling kind of excited and terrified. While I had my pre op assessment I burst into tears for no reason other than I found myself thinking what a stupid fat gutty pig I am eating myself into an operating theatre! I could do with a buddy who is having surgery near me to be friends with and add to face book, or have a group on FB - It would be fun to meet up a year from now and have a party -

Hi thanks for that reply it dies seem like everyone is different - the one thing I need is to not feel hungry I eat sweet things sugar biscuits cakes mmm icebreaker and I like pizza too - but I am paying for this myself and maxing my credit card it's not cheap it's costing 12000 pounds - about 18000 dollars! So I'm praying I will definitely lose the urge to binge on bad stuff !! -

My surgery is 6th May -I keep getting scared - not of the surgery itself but the thought I may never be able to enjoy food again or I will feel nauseus and sick every time I eat - but these posts do fill me with hope and renewed strength - you are amazing xx -
Hi there My surgery is May 6th, I had to start my liquid diet today, for two weeks, to me its like saying to an Alcoholic " In order to get into rehab, you need to be tee total for two weeks,,!!) basicallly it aint happening, so today, day one, yes I cheated, Im supposed to have milk, I did fight off the urge to go buy a big box of biscuits or chocolates or cakes, which was hard enough but after cooking a hunk of beef I just HAD to have some,,, but thats not bad is it?

Hi people I used to be a gym junkie a size English 6 until my dad died, and I ate myself into bloody obvlivion, anyway, my ope is May 6th, my bmi is 37 Im 14 stone - two years ago was 7 stone, so doubled my weight in two years, but I had a gastric band prior and that thing slipped so had it out in Jan, I think I put three stone on since then! Anyway purpose of my response, I thought the purpose of this op was to make us lose weight and keep it off without having to do 100 miles of walking or twice a day in the gym,, although I will certainly get back to it once I can build up the nerve. Why do people put weight back on, ? Im confused - I am terrified, I will go on crazy emotional binges after, and are praying this op will put a stop to it,, am I right?
-
I wish I knew how to answer this, I have no idea what a UTI is,,, I daresay after surgery I will find out!

Hi there My surgery is May 6th and Im nervous too, but I know that my life now, well, its no life at all - I am invisible to the opposite sex and I hate what I see in the mirror - I am doing a degree in psychology, I graduate this year, I learnt about self fulfilling prophecy - basically, if you truly believe you are ugly unconciously every thing you do will fulfil that belief. So, our fear, if we go into surgery believing there will be problems and have negative thoughts unconciously we will attract those negative vibes, (all about the laws of attraction, the secret is based on it) . What Im trying to say, is I know that you have to believe you are going to change your life, the day of surgery is your first day of life, you are a born again human being - There wont be bad days, just some days wont be as great as others, but never bad Keep in touch with me, I will motivate you, it will do me good xxxx

Fat Doctor on youtube-awesome show!
Bridget Jones replied to mi75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you sooo much Well, I dont know what diet they give you pre op, but here I have been told for two weeks before surgery I have to drink nothing but milk¬ Bleurgh,,, it seems odd to tell someone who clearly has an eating disorder to lose weight before they do a surgery to help you lose weight lol,,, but I get it,, I guess the fear of them cutting your liver makes you not eat! here I am watching masterchef eating the whole bag of sugar free sweets, that I know will make me fart lol, they always do ! I cant wait to not want food ,, I really am sick of food - Does anyone know if this surgery raises your metabolism? -

My surgery is booked for May 6th with one of the fat doctors from the TV show here in the UK - but Im terrified of blood clots, bleeding, hernias adhesions, ruptures and god knows what else, am I doing the right thing? Does this surgery fix you short term but decrease your life expectancy because of lots of long term side effects from having your digestive system re built? I have had a gastric band, I lost 6 stone (14 pounds in a stone) anyway, I looked and felt great, went and lived in LA for fun, and was an american size zero, worked out in the gym every day, and felt fab, then my dad died, I came back here to the UK, and then the climate and food and misery got to me, no more gym - replaced it with cakes, anyway, then my band slipped, and in Jan this year had it removed, now, Im back where I swore I would never be.... what do I do, do I dare to go ahead with what they say is more risky revision surgery or do I just slip into my fat invisible world.....
