lapbandchic73 replied to slomeli84's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Right now they say that Im wide open.(meaning my band is not tightened) And I can tell..I dont get full as quickly as they say I would. So Im hoping that after my fill Ill start feeling that fuller sooner. So your saying after my fill I should only be eatting and full after eatting 1/2-3/4 cup AFTER my Fill? Cause right now..its not that way...Thank you for the support and answering my questions. Lapbandchic73 -

Im having my first fill tomorrow. (1/9/14) I was banded Dec 6, 2013. Im a little scared, but so excited to finally FINALLY start this journey. So..how much do they put in the band the first time? And what is the green zone? I feel like these are dumb questions, just havnt had to deal yet with it..so I dont know. New questions. Anyone have any feed back? -
I live close to St. Louis..but had my surgery in Kansas City Mo...that's about a 4 hour drive..Cant find a support group locally..if anyone knows of one..Please let me know. Thanks lapbandchic73

Lucky for you there is a support group to go to locally. I haven't been able to find one where I live. Just here on this site. But sometimes you need someone in person to be able to talk to. So you get instant conversation back. Best of luck to you and your journey. Happy New Year Lapbandchic73

Well I was banded Dec 6th 2013. And I go for my first fill on Jan 9th. AND IM READY FOR IT! Since Iv healed from the surgery and that Im still wide open on my band...I cant seem to feel full when I eat. And Im frustrated with myself. I lost a lot right after the surgery and..Im maintain it..but I know that eating isn't the solution. Im bored, I don't go back to work till Jan 6th, and then don't start back up with Spring semester classes till Jan 16..Iv been doing the Zumba Wii workout, Im just down today..Feel like I could cry. Not sure if its an after Christmas depression or what..but today it hit me. Im sad...I know that this journey is goin to take some time to travel..Just ready for it to start..Sorry for boo-hooing to you guys today..I just needed to vent..Happy New year everyone Lapbandchic73

Good luck with journey...at least for me..Understand the things that I figured out: YOUR GOING TO BE SWOLLEN!! Still get your intake of liquids. Those are very much needed. TAKE SOME TYPE OF PAIN MEDS..I only used my Hydrocodone once..and thought since Im not in that much pain that I dont need it..But at least take Ibuprophen. It will help with the swelling and the pain. WHEN YOU ALLOWED TO EAT!! .....EAT!! I went into my first post op appt..thinking everything was getting stuck, and that I couldnt eat..and barely drink. Well..you can eat and drink..I had malnurished and dehydrated myself. As far as mushie foods....good luck..their gross..lol..I pureed some Campbells vegetable Soup...*GAG!! lol.. Good luck to you Mommy of 7. Merry Christmas!! Lapbandchic73

I used a heating pad on my shoulder that helped out alot. Have you tried chicken broth? I made some homemade broth had a lil more taste than just the broth in a can. Jello..you can have that. YUMMY!! Your going to be feeling like a ROCK STAR in a few days!! Keep us informed!! Have a Mery Christmas!! Lapbandchic73 -
What to expect in first week
lapbandchic73 replied to desertpixie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go on the upcoming change of your lifetime!! I just got banded December 6th, 2013. All I can say is you have made a wonderful decision. I did have some pain but nothing big. I only took my perscribed pain meds once. Then went to Ibuprofen the rest of the time. Before my surgery I made a huge pot of homemade chicken broth and froze indiviual serving so I could just pull out a baggie take it with me to work/school (full time student) and thaw it out. and go. sugar free Jello, popcicles, were my best friend. I tried the whole pureed food once I was on mushie food. But OMG!! Nasty..was so happy the day I could eat a real bite of something..anything. And I feel so much better. Swelling is gone for what I notice..And in just a whole Im feeling GREAT!! I wish you the best on your upcoming surgery. Keep us informed...!! Best Wishes!! Lapbandchic73 -
I am 11 days since my surgery..and Im feeling so much better. Back to eating regular food.. (Smaller portions of course) But today I went and finished my Christmas shopping ( 12 hours of shopping with an overzealous sister) but Im done and I feel great. It was nice to not be winded and be able to keep up with them. I get my first fill on Jan 9th. Im ready for it. Really didn't think I'd be saying that ..after all the pain it was getting thru the healing part. But Im ready. Ready to get on with this journey.

Well Im almost 7 days post op..Today was probably by far the worst day. I went to my first follow up and not good..I had dyhydrated my self and well was malnourished. I didn't understand the pain of this, I didn't understand if I was hutring, full, swollen, something stuck, hungry. There was so much going on. So going in today they took one look at me and said..we need to get you hydrated..so they ordered an IV. Then she said you need something to eat...so they sent my boyfriend out to get me something. He came back with St Louis Bread Co. chicken noodle Soup. OMG was I really going to chew something? So..first bite...of anything that has had substance. OMG it tasted so good. What had I done to myself...not eating..I had to get physiologically right in my head that ...Lapbandchic you just had surgery, the band is WIDE OPEN....You can eat. Don't be scared that something is goin to get stuck. So from here on out...Im goin to take the ibuprofen if I need it and know that right now Im healing..i need to eat...so with that..Im goin to get a sugar free popsicle

I to have felt better laying down and the gas..did disperse better. I still have the pain pressure in my shoulder and neck..but that's getting better. Good luck on your journey Coach....Have a Merry Christmas

Banded December 6, 2013 Well I had my band put on at the Weight loss Clinic in Overland Park, Kansas. Dr Ellison did my surgery and well 2 hours after my surgery I was already up walking around. I had met another lady there that had hers done that day and we just walked and talked about what we was feeling and the goals we had. Now 5 days post-op...I think today Im feeling my best. Prior days I wasnt feeling so well. I think I had myself on the verge of dehydration. But I went home from work, ( yes..work..went back 2 days after my surgery) and bought some tea, and made myself some warm tea, ate some popciles, and sipped on Water for the rest of the evening..My daughter said mom.."Your looking better, not so pale". But the reason that I wasnt drinking as much is because I felt full from eatting the liquids or mushie. So I didnt think I needed or could have anything. But that my friend is totally not true.. WATER..is the answer..feeling alot better today. I have my post op appt with my doctor tomorrow to check my incisions...Just taking it day by day Stay in touch..I would like to see how everyone is doing. Lapbandchic DeSoto Missouri

Need Something Crunchy To Replace Chips?
lapbandchic73 replied to waitingpatiently's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just the thought of having something other than liquids or mushie. At when point do I get to start eatting regular food. Pickles, Nuts, Peanut Butter..(whooho) there are just a few things that Im missing. Im missing the feeling of grinding my teeth on something. I did chew a piece of meat the other day just cause I was needing that feeling of grinding something. I know Im only 5 days post-op. But hating the liquid and mushie stage. Ready for something real. -
Bean with Bacon..do you just chew that good or have to mash it up? I love that soup.
-
Mushies are not getting me all that excited..but I know its a step that I have to take. I did puree some vegetable soup tonight...Um...GAG! the gritty texture..It took everything in my power to get it down..lol I wish you the best..stay in touch. Sicerely, Lapbanchic73

I am also 4 days post op. And today was truly one of my worst day. The stuck feeling in my chest. where everyone says that its due to being swollen. And that I hadn't been hydrating my self properly. But today..I got right on that. popsicles, warm tea, pureed Soup..Seem to do ok. But I appreciated all the helpful encouraging words from everyone.
