Hair Loss - A Harsh Reality. Picture of Loss.
Mommysonadiet replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Loobylou. I'm actually 2/4 Irish, 1/4 Scottish and the remaining 1/4 - I'm a English mutt. But yes, I have the pale (prone to stretch marks) skin and fine, can't do anything with it hair! I may well give consideration to a wig if the sides of my head disappear any more quickly than they already are. I fancy a bright red bob... Hmm.. that's an idea actually! Roo - you're right, your wig is absolutely fantastic! I wouldn't know it was a wig at all! Is it real hair? LOL It is really interesting you said that, PdxMan. Although being dark and having a bit of a tache - its my legs which are starting to look like they belong to a baby gorilla! Weird. I didn't think it could have been the Biotin that caused me to go this way. Did the excess hair stop for you once Biotin had left your system? I'm thinking it might be worth continuing on with the Biotin and suffering the ape-legs so that it promotes the growth on my head... I think blondes do have more fun. Just need to look at my sister to confirm that. She's flaxen blonde and I am dark! Genetics are weird! Be afraid - be very afraid! lol Not really.. Everyone suffers it in different ways and at different levels. You may be one of the lucky few. I hope you are I have very thick hair, so in a way I am kinda looking forward to losing 50% of my hair - that's how much hair I have. My sleeve was Dec 3 2013 and still no hair loss. -

Survey - Carbonated Drinks? Do u drink them?
Mommysonadiet replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do.. every day. lol. I'm 3 months post op. I drink about 3 oz and it's enough. Much better than the 100 oz I drank before surgery. -
How do you stop eating before becoming over full if you weren't hungry to begin with?
Mommysonadiet replied to ugtalvt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm never hungry. I only eat when I am 'supposed to' eat. If there were no one else around me all day to witness my lack of eating, I would probably just drink my meals, or have juice or milk. Eating is not enjoyable anymore for me. Everyone I eat around now notices how little I eat. I just say I'm on a diet, but everyone still gives me a hard time. It's embarrassing and I try to eat more so they don't make comments but I can never eat enough. I stop eating when I know that uncomfortable feeling is about to come with the next bite. It's about 5 bites in for me at 3 months post op. -

Mommysonadiet replied to chanelle102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved Dec 3 2013! Weight loss has slowed but at least I'm still losing a pound a week and not in a stall. -
You are doing great! Keep doing what you're doing and the weight will fall off eventually. I wish I was as strict as you...

2 Months Post Op Gastric Sleeve Pictures
Mommysonadiet replied to voutman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
wow great job. I'm 2 months post op as well but only lost 31 lbs. What's your diet and exercise like? -
Before surgery, I could go a week without washing my hair (I have VERY thick hair), but now after surgery I can only go about 2 days before my hair is so greasy it's gross. Did this happen to anyone else? Anyone know what causes this? I'm assuming lack of nutrients.

I have a UTI 8 weeks post op and am wondering if this is common with surgery? Now I'm worried I have an STD or kidney stones from dehydration...

8 weeks post op, what are you eating?
Mommysonadiet posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved Dec 3, 2013, almost 8 weeks ago. It's still very hard for me to eat solid Proteins. The only meat I've been able to keep down is tuna (only about 1.5 ounces at a time) and 1 meatball or about 4 bites of meatloaf. Is that normal? Eating slow is so hard for me. Should I force myself to eat 1 ounce of meat once an hour to reach a certain ounce of meat per day? I know this is BAD, but I have been eating only carbs with some Protein in them, like 1 serving of mac and cheese, which I have to force myself to eat, or half of a sweet or baked potato. chips seem to be the easiest thing to eat but I can't eat more than a serving. I do work out, about 3 days a week, cardio for 30-45 min. I cannot stomach Protein shakes anymore, I'd rather not eat. I think my body is in starvation mode since I've only lost about 6 lbs my 2nd month. -
Hi, I used Dr. Shillingford and was self pay too. That said, I found out you get what you pay for! Dr. Wizeman operates in the same hospital as Shillingford (I only know that because my horrible, rude, lazy nurse referred to my surgeon as Wizeman every day). My experience with that hospital was horrible. I reviewed my experience in the hospital and insurance section of this site. I hope your experience is much better!

Started my period today, and I couldn't even eat 2 bites of Soup before I thought I was going to throw up. All I've been able to get down today are 3 rice crisps and 8 oz of Water. I can't remember if this happened last month. Is this normal?

Alcoholism or heavy drinking after being sleeved
Mommysonadiet posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Has anyone struggled with drinking too much after getting sleeved? My fiancé dumped me right after I was sleeved. Subsequently, I lost my career since he owned the business I worked for and I also have to move in a month. I went 4 weeks with out a drink but then I had wine and tolerated it fine, and have been drinking way too much the past week to mask the pain of everything going on in my life right now. Please private message me if you are...I could use some help here. -

Alcoholism or heavy drinking after being sleeved
Mommysonadiet replied to Mommysonadiet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Does everyone have to stand up and introduce themselves? I've seen that on tv. Yes, I've been sober for 23 years, 9 months post sleeve surgery. Due to my history I've been very alert to the role my emotions play out with my eating. AA is great, it saved my life, it doesn't cost anything , just a buck in the basket if you can spare it. Lots of support and people to call before you pick up that first drink. -
I feel left out - I never got a NUT. Is it because I was self-pay with the cheapest doctor I could find in my area?

I love Rice Crisps Sweet Chili and these crunchy vegetable sticks that taste like potato chips but they're made from spinach, tomato, and potato. I would like to try some new crunchy Snacks, what do you like?

Alcoholism or heavy drinking after being sleeved
Mommysonadiet replied to Mommysonadiet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for writing. I wish I could afford to see a therapist but I can't right now. I am most afraid I won't lose any more weight if I continue to drink this much wine every day, but it seems your drinking didn't affect your weight loss. How much did you drink? I have noticed it does affect my memory more than before sleeved. I used to drink hard liquor before the sleeve though, and am afraid to try Vodka or Rum, etc now. -

Yes it was a problem before the sleeve, and no I've never been to AA.... Have you? What is AA like? -
the brand doesn't really matter, try skim or low fat. I add splenda and ground cinnamon to mine, sometimes strawberry jelly.
