Erosion, The Real Facts
Fauxnaif replied to Ariel Ortiz M.D. FACS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since we are describing our own opinions based on our experience, I WOULD recommend my Mexican doc in a heartbeat to anyone. I was treated well, with respect and the doctor is very, very accessible. I even go back (8 hour drive) to him for fills. -Proud patient of Dr. Jose Rodriguez, Acuna, MX -
My fills have never been fickle. I've been blessed in that respect. My battles have been with my own mind and food issues.

This stuff is great! It is one of the few things that keeps me full for a while!

Pregnant and banded weight gain???
Fauxnaif replied to StartingOver's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I gained about 30 pounds. It took me about 6 months to lose but I waited about 4 months to get a fill that I needed. -
I will tell you I am over 3 years out and I have to stop eating about 3 hours before I go to bed to avoid reflux. I do definitely get hungry at night. I am learning to ignore it.

I had a very good experience in Mexico with Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Acuna.

It's good. Definitely worth the money. I downloaded it. It's great stuff we all need to be reminded of.

Discrimination Over Your Weight
Fauxnaif replied to j_war06's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess it comes from being almost 35 but frankly I don't care. I have a wonderful husband who married me at 100 pounds more than I weigh now. I have a degree and a secure job in a shortage area where they can't afford to discriminate against qualified candidates. I teach the highest level in my discipline. If I am being discriminated against and I know it, I am quite likely to in nicer terms tell them to fuck off and that I will not bring my business to them again. If someone is discriminating against me in personal terms, then screw them as I wouldn't want to hang around with them anyway. You can sit around and decry the world or get out and live. Make yourself indispensible and the fat will not be the first thing people see about you. It will be your excellence. Yes, it is liberating getting older!!!! -

Lower Body Lift Surgery Update [Picture]
Fauxnaif replied to MuffinBirdie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You look great! I would love to go back to Mexico for my plastic surgery too. In a year or so. Thanks for sharing the pics. Did they tighten your muscles too? Or just the skin? Have you had children? -
Still working on number 6 several years later. Great list, great wisdom!

Poll: Howzit working for you?
Fauxnaif replied to GeezerSue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow! What was your starting BMI? -
My doc is Dr. Jose Rodriguez too. And I live in Houston. I do go back and forth. We make a weekend out of it. It still costs me less than a fill in Texas.

I think it can work especially well for someone who can eat so much food. The band WILL restrict how much you can eat.

Trust me on this: vomitting is a BAD habit to get into.

Poll: Howzit working for you?
Fauxnaif replied to GeezerSue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am at 30.6. I am so close to being below 30 that I can taste it. If I said I am satisfied I would be lying. I would be quite satisfied with a BMI of about 27. At least I think I would. Not bad from a starting BMI of 47. -
Where are the happy bandsters?
Fauxnaif replied to tomorrowsdream's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm almost 3 and a half years out and I'm quite happy with my band although the closer I get to goal, the slower the weightloss is. I think that's normal. It is true that sometimes you do get so happy that you start living life more and don't spend as much time on the computer. I've been busy with my one year old son-the one we wouldn't have had (personal choice-no medical reason) unless I lost weight like I did. He's my number one reason for being happy with the band! Also, for whatever reason, there aren't a bunch of longer-term post-ops here. So it is harder to see the big picture. -
This was my first thought. I think this has a lot to do with it.

It doesn't bother me how Sue signs her posts. And I've been a devout Christian for oh, 24 years. Since we are discussing what we get tired of-I get tired of Christians who act unChristlike and make us all look so judgmental and intolerant. No wonder so many people are turned off when they hear the word Christian. And for anyone who is out to convert (and trust me, I'm NOT), lack of compassion, patronizing talk and put-downs do more to damage "our" cause than someone signing one post as an atheist.

Wellbutrin is generally not linked to weight gain. I've been on it for several years and it has been a life-saver!

I had one many years ago and found this to be the case. Also, when they were very popular here, one of the local tv stations did a story where they tested them. They found that they wore off basically when you drank water again-you gained the inches back. It seems they are dehydrating the body.
