Day 9. I'm at Jefferson Hospital today for pre-op testing. It's unbelievable to me that this is really happening! Wow! I'm really getting excited! I can't lie, my emotions have some nervousness but mostly I'm getting excited for my new life! I was up 4 ounces today but that's ok! I know I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing! -

Day 8.... I woke up feeling so much better today! I will attempt to go to work and see how it goes. I'm down an even 5 pounds today so that makes me happy! Starting to get nervous because this time next week I will be on my way to Philadelphia to have surgery. I was so optimistic about my decision until last night when I went wandering into the "complications sites" here. My heart is breaking for those who have had to endure these problems. I am going to try to stay positive though and hope for the best! Happy Monday! -

I had Pancreatitis after a gallbladder surgery years ago so I feel your pain! Hoping each day gets better! -
Uh-Oh.....Nerves are starting to kick in a little

I am sure I will be feeling this way the same time next week. You will do great! Good luck and post a message tomorrow night when you're resting comfortably in your room! Good luck! -

Day 7. Still feeling crappy but I think it's from the ruptured cyst. Hoping to see the doc tomorrow to make sure everything is ok. Down to 222.4 for a total of 4.6 pounds. I'm trying to get in all liquids. I week down, 1 to go! -
Insurance Will Not Cover Band Removal

I would contact the President's office. That's ridiculous! I would also consider the doctor sending a certified letter advising of the risks showing they outweigh the money spent doing the surgery. -
Follow A Sleever From Day 1 to 1 Year

Today is better appetite wise. Definitely not as hungry as I've been. No change in my weight and I contribute that to all the liquids I was pumped up with yesterday. Hoping for more energy tomorrow! -

Day 4 has been awful! I ended up in the ER with an ovarian cyst that ruptured. I'm so tired and feel exhausted. Normally, I would look for comfort food but yet, I am eating broth. The ER gave me Toradol but I'm not taking anything else until I talk to the doctor's office tomorrow. I don't want any of this to affect my surgery. Thankfully, I should be ok and it shouldn't. Hoping for a better tomorrow. -

Thanks everyone! So it's the beginning of Day 3. I don't feel as weak as I did yesterday and I'm thankful for that! I did start back on my multivitamins so maybe that has something to do with it. Surprisingly, I also got a great night's sleep too. I just weighed myself and I'm down another 1.4 pounds! I'm so excited!!! Hoping today will be a great day and my liquid diet will be a little easier! Good luck everyone! -
That's fantastic! Way to go!!!

Pre-op liquid tips?
Jerziegirl replied to lmdx0sleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started today too! So far I only miss chewing something. I'm going to get SF gum yo see if that helps. I've had one muscle milk shake and beef broth. Only 13 1/2 days to go! -
I feel bad for all the struggles you are going through this week. It worries me because my surgery in is 15 days. What I try to think about is the "big picture". Many people say the first 4 weeks are rough but once you are done with them, it's smooth sailing! Feel better!

Embarrassing Question - What To Tell Casual Friends
Jerziegirl replied to Karen W's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You sounds like me Karen! Lol! My name is Karen, I have a band that has caused me so much reflux that I am having it taken out with a sleeve revision on March 3 too and the doctor is repairing my hernia! Unlike the band where I told almost no one, I have shared my intentions because someone else I work with had a sleeve revision and they are getting tremendous from our coworkers and I decided to draw from that as well. I'm 225 right now and hoping to get to 145. I start 2 weeks of liquids only on Monday! Good luck to you! -
My Journey/March 2014 Sleever
Jerziegirl replied to Jerziegirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So far feeling good. Not looking forward to 2 weeks of liquid only but know I am closer to being who I want to be. This weekend is the last of my big eating. However, I don't have any oaks to overeat. I figure it will only make it harder for me to come off the carbs. -
My Journey/March 2014 Sleever
Jerziegirl replied to Jerziegirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all! I know this is the right thing and I know I'm in good care with my doctor. I just think it's the last minute nerves of starting the no food and the surgery. But, I am very excited! Looking forward to the new me! All tests (cardiac, endoscopy, colonoscopy, MRCP, psych eval) are all good. Blood work was all normal except for a low Vitamin D so I have to increase that. So, it's all good so far! -
I'm from Toms River and having my surgery in Philly. I was considering NJ but most docs wouldn't remove the band, repair my hernia and do the sleeve in the same procedure so I went to Jefferson.

Good luck to everyone! I'm starting my 2week liquid only diet Tuesday and I'm nervous about the headaches and "mourning of food". Thanks for starting this thread! Sending get well wishes to those who are recovering.

Telling people about surgery... Advice needed
Jerziegirl replied to takefeline's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am also having the sleeve surgery on March 3rd. I had a lap band that failed and no one even knew I had it in 2005 since I told no one but my husband, parents and one cousin who had hers the same day. I am having mine removed when the sleeve is done. I am a Supervisor of Social Workers. One of the women in my building had the surgery in August. She is doing phenomenal and is getting so much support from the staff. I decided not to hide it at work this way I was held accountable since that's where I do the most eating. So far everyone has been supportive. In my mind I do worry "what if I'm not successful what will people think" but the truth is, what were people saying with me carrying an extra 90 pounds? Bottom line is I've done it both ways with and without telling people and so far I must admit, the support is better with people knowing. Good luck to you on the 3rd no matter what you decide. -
That's great! Overall, how do you feel? Tired? Hungry? How's your energy?
-
I'm having mine with Dr. Tichansky at Jefferson. I've heard very good things about HUP too!

I'm Ocean Co also. Going to Philly for Sleeve in March.
