    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Ok, two month update: 60 lbs lost. I started eating a few things here and there outside of diet, but keep in mind a healthy lifestyle, healthy diet and very heavy on Proteins. I have not had my two month appt yet but called NUT to talk to her about working out and diet. I feel so good and got clearance to work out so I've been working my butt off and the results are coming in. I still get nauseous if I drink Water too fast and at times forget to drink it slowly. I really can eat anything I want at this point but choose not to as a reminder of all the hard work to get me here and stick to the healthy diet. I hope all of you are seeing your results. I look drastically different, lost 3 whole pant sizes and am about to lose another. Keep on keeping in everyone. We all worked hard and will get there!!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

For me I eat standing or sitting up straight. I found that if I'm bent or laying the food does not go down at all ... I have also found that when I don't worry and just go with what feels right I don't feel sick. Sometimes it is a spoon here and there, sometimes I can actually take in more than expected. I follow the foods in my Nut outline but in regards to sizing and portions I make sure I take all my vitamins get one meal with my protein intake and try to get protein the rest of the day ... Sometimes I don't get my entire protein intake and sometimes I do. I'm active - walk every day (having a dog has helped me and with a child helps me also stay active), and feel good. Had surgery on the 16th of DEC and have not hit my stall yet. Stay at it and don't put so much pressure on yourself (mind and body). You are on your way. Keep at it, we are all in this together!

I would suggest buy a watch or some jewelry ... Not an outfit or clothes because you will keep going on your journey. Do something for you. A massage right now for me doesn't sound all that appealing because I had surgery mid december and my body is not all the way there yet and I wouldn't enjoy the massage as much as I could ... Btw: way to go!! Awesome to achieve the weight loss!! Keep on keeping on.

Sorry guys took so long to reply ... I found mine in ebay - just an over the shoulder strap and a connector to the bottle. You can find them at Etsy, Ebay, emergency preparedness stores, hiking/outdoor suppliers. It has really helped me. Keep in keeping on Decembers! We've got this!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Jess - it may look "silly" but I believe this does the trick for me...I bought a disposable water bottle with a holster to it that goes over my shoulder ... like a "across the shoulder purse" if that makes sense. Then all day long my water bottle is with me and I drink sips all day long I started noticing how much more water I am drinking now and the difference it makes to my body...I was also sleeved on the 16th and could not live without this nerdy look ... I go out to run errands, trusty water bottle is by my side in its little "purse". At work, trusty water bottle is mu constant companion and so forth. Hope this helps. Keep on drinking your water!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Ok fellow dec sleevers ... Here are my updates: Sleeved on 16th. Starting weight: 277 Pre op diet weight/day of surgery: 264 Weight today: 241 I am 5'11 (female) and was told to eat 80 gs of Protein a day. I have struggled to even get 50 at times ... Thanks to those that posted a reply to my question on some protein alternatives. I stomach unjurys protein really well and this has helped me quite a bit. Im crushing a bunch of nutrients/vitamins still and they taste so awful that I tend to want to throw them up ... Any suggestions?? Also, keep the faith! I have seen and feel a significant weight loss already and I know all of you can do it! We are in this and we are in it for the long haul. One day at a time. When the going gets tough I just remember the sacrifice that got me (us) here and do not want it to go in vain. Here is to better healthy lifestyle filled with adventures!

Hello everyone. I am struggling to find the unflavored protein powder everyone mentions. Could anyone possibly give me the name or show a link to where I could buy this please?

Could be Vitamin deficiency. Or your body adjusting - and the fact you had major surgery. Hang in there. Im 11 days post also. There are big things waiting ... Make sure you are also not overdoing it. I noticed at the end of the day I'm wiped out. Our bodies are healing ... And getting used to this new 'shock' of a change. Hang in there.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Update: One week since surgery - down 17 lbs. struggling in the intake of protein - left clear liquids at the hospital and have been on only clear broth and protein drinks. Really tired of the protein drinks and have NOT been taking enough. Hang tough everyone. We can all do this. There is an end in sight. Surgery was done in south Florida.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Started phase two yesterday while at hospital. Got the ok to leave at 5 pm and had a hard time sleeping (miss that lovely hospital bed) but am moving quite a bit. What helped me was second and third day at hospital i started walking and was able to pass gas third day at hospital. Still have not been able to do a bowel movement (dec 16th sleeved) but I believe it will come in time ... Have been taking my water but the protein shakes i am not a big fan of so making it harder to have the protein and all other minerals needed (which also explains the bowel movement issue) i am still glad I made the decision and know that the discomfort will go away. Had a great surgical team from care assistants, to nurses, to anesthesiologists, hospital and doctor staff. Looking forward to seeing doc on 10 day post op and showing some great results and getting ok for phase three. Oh, lost 10 lbs so far ... Key part of the loss is pushing the gas out and walking. They took the catheter out first day and drain last day of hospital ... I was walking and that facilitated in the loss of extra fluids and gas. You can do this. It is temporary pain for a great long term effect. Keep reminding yourself of the finish line. Started weight pre op diet: 277 After pre op diet: 266 (11 lbs lost in two weeks of preop diet) Weight so far: 256 (10 lbs lost while in hospital after surgery. Goal weight: 177 (100 lbs deficit) I am 33 yr 5'11 female. Walk it off. That is the best advice I received and I am seeing the results.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Had surgery on 16th. Still at hospital. Gas pains are a doozy. They burn especally in my chest. Not able t tolerate food or anything with flavor. Hospital has tea, broth, popsicle, water. I take the water 30 cc at a time. Threw up once when they tried switching me from morphine injections to liquid lortab. Throwing up = no bueno. Walking right away was one of the best choices ... On the other hand, sped up the whole gad thing. Still not able to pass gas or go #2 but yhey think tomorrow is the day. In pain but looking forward to tomorrow and the days after. Ah-being able to get up and do some washing pf my face, brush teeth, etc was a great feeling and may help you feel rejuvenated. Will update some more in a bit.

So not sure if its the anxiety, clear liquids, or both (probably) but I am an anxious mess. Have thrown up already and can't seem to get any sleep past three days. Tomorrow can't get here fast enough.

    Documenting My Sleeve Surgery

Stacy, wow, yes very close. You will do great and I'll keep you in my prayers. Let me know how it went. EKG, Chest xray, more blood work, and pre op appt done today. Still on Protein shakes till Saturday evening, then Clear liquids.
  18. Ok folks, I recently found comfort in reading a day to day from a previous forum member that went through their own sleeve surgery, so I will do the sane in hopes of maybe helping someone else and also as an "anxiety" relief and feedback/support. 6 days away from surgery - 12/16 is the big day. I am 5'10 woman early 30's and weigh 275 as of today. Tomorrow I see my doc and clinic/hospital for final steps - anesthesia convo, etc. In preparation for this my insurance and doctor requested documented alternative methods of weight loss programs, blood work, psych eval, nutritionist, ekg, attended his orientation class, chest xray, endoscopy and did not do ab ultrasound since I do not have a gall bladder, otherwise I would have gotten that as well. I have a demanding job in which I travel and have a child and am single. I'll report on the after affects as well as the day to day after and how I am coping with my day to day tasks - eating and pain while traveling, etc ... I will also have some family helping me for the first two weeks of surgery. Let the lifestyle change begin!

    Documenting My Sleeve Surgery

Hi b. No, I did not have to have it supervised nor documented, just a historical of different weight loss attempts. Hang in there. Once you realize the end is near, the adrenaline will kick in and you will be on the road to a better lifestyle. Things happen for a reason (I truly believe that) - so maybe the time you are spending for the supervised weight loss will be the time needed for something else to take place in your life... I see doc tomorrow and anesthesiologist at hospital to go over last minute prep.
