    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I think my hardest adjustment was the mental and emotional changes. The physical has been manageable. I actually went back to work 1 week and 2 days later (clinic nurse). It at least helped distract me and get back some sense of normalcy versus OBSESSING over what I could or could not do. I had been on an emotional rollercoaster at times (just like the surgeon told me could possibly happen). I thank God I haven't/didn't use food for comfort like I would have in the past. So far my weightloss is slow and steady (3 weeks post op and still anticipating the dreaded stall though). On average I get in all my protein and water with some days slacking a lil on the water. From one day to the next sometimes I was happy then sad, laughing then wanting to cry, hopeful then depressed and full of anxiety, positive then negative, motivated then discouraged...etc. Just an all out pity party of "woe is me"...LOL!!! I had to keep reminding myself why I did this. I realized I have to take control because I determine my success or failure. When I look at old pics, reflect on my numerous past FAILED weight loss attempts since I was a teenager, or see that now some of the jeans/sweats I wore 3 weeks ago now fit a lot looser...I get my a$$ back on track. Reading posts from everyone else also helped keep me going. Therefore I BEG each of you, as we go back to our "normal lives" and for some return to work, don't forget your December Sleever Family and please stay in touch with your updates or just Hi! THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST SUPPORT GROUP FOR ME!!!! THANKS EVERYONE AND I WISH YOU MUCH SUCCESS!!!!

I added everyone that had their MFP username listed. Eventhough it says you can add by email, it also gives you the option to type in the email or username and send the request. (I did it from my mobile device.) Hope this helps. My username is TSneed73

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Went for 1 week post op yesterday and was advanced to semi solid foods...yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, refried beans, low fat cheese, soft cooked veggies, and small amt fruit. I ALMOST had an emotional break down at the grocery store. My inner fat girl wanted all the stuff that got us here and was even trying to negotiate for me to buy it now and save it for later when I can eat it...NO!!!! I never realized how much the mental and emotional has to heal more than the physical. HW: 308 (May 2013) JW: 291 (weight when I started this journey) SW: 276.4 (lost 11lbs pre op) CW: 271 I am very happy with the weight loss so far. Able to get in my water. Just starting protein today, hoping that goes well. I was given the ok to return to work Monday. Still having some right sided pain, but controlled with Tylenol. Overall doing fine.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hang in there and remember that God is in control. All things happen for a reason. We may not understand it, but it's all in his hands. So please stay encouraged, just as you have kept the rest of us encouraged as we have our different struggles. We are all on that mountain with you, but just maybe at different points of the journey. We will all make it to the top and be victorious. For now as you wait, find something to help keep you distracted. My prayers are with you and MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU!!!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Sleeved on the 27th with hiatal hernia repair. Glad to have finally made it to the losers bench. Still at hospital...day 1 post op. Well be discharged tomorrow. Overall doing good. Have been experiencing some pain, but it's manageable. Walking and walking and walking and using gas x strips, but the gas is stubborn and don't won't to get out. It hasn't been all peaches and cream, but it is doable. Plan to hang it there, because for a change I KNOW I CAN SUCCEED WITH MY NEWEST TOOL. HW 308 in March 2013 JW 289 in Oct 2013 (weight when I started this sleeve journey) SW 276.4 (lost 12 pounds on pre op diet) CW...will update after 1 week post op appt The best item i brought with me was my mini electric massager, it really helped relax my back and shoulder muscles which seemed so tensed and achy after surgery. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts of well wishes!!! My thoughts and prayers go out for those yet to be sleeved, and also to those already sleeved.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Merry Christmas to you all. May your lives continue to be wonderfully blessed. Thanks to all of you who share your experiences. My date is just around the corner on this Friday the 27th. The pre op is a lil rough, but yet I am soooooooo exited! Just think this time next week we can all share our New Year Resolutions and this time if it's to lose weight, be healthy, or more active...for a change IT CAN and WILL COME TRUE!!!!! So keep persevering and conquer one day at a time.
  15. Not sure of what they gave you, but if you were given a full mask that is uncomfortable and make you feel claustrophobic you can request what's called a nasal pillow for your cpap. Lots of people find it more comfortable than the full mask. Sometimes it's as simple as contacting the supply company to request the change, or just getting an order from the doctor. I personally don't have a cpap, but have dealt with lots of people that do. Hope this helps.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Don't let that person steal your joy. You have been blessed with a new start in life....embrace it and be happy. Jealousy lurks in people and they don't even realize it at times. If they are truly your friend, hopefully they will take a step back, stop being selfish, and then support you. IF NOT START YOUR OWN ROUTINE AND KNOW THAT YOU HAVE YOUR FELLOW DECEMBER SLEEVERS ON YOUR SUPPORT TEAM. CONGRATS ON TAKING SUCH A BIG STEP AND I WISH YOU MUCH SUCCESS!!! Remember this is for a better quality of living for you :-) I SUPPORT YOU!!!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

My date is 12/27 with 1 week of pre op diet. Congrats and Best of Luck to everyone. Glad I found this site and all the December sleevers.
  23. Congrats to those who have already had their surgeries and thanks for the updates. It helps calm my nerves. Good luck to those of us still waiting...27th for me. My prayers go out for us all. It all seems surreal. I am sure that many of us had the same New Years Resolution for years, which was ALWAYS to lose weight and be healthy. Can any of my December family tell me how it feels to FINALLY be able to say it and know that it's gonna happen for 2014?
  24. Surgery date 12/27 - desired pounds to lose 110
  25. Another newbie here...GOOD LUCK AND MUCH SUCCESS to all the December Sleevers. I just started reading the posts today and instantly felt like I belonged. I love the fact that it's nothing but positive support here...no judgement noted. My big day is Dec 27. Eventhogh I never felt like a loser, for the first time in life I am looking forward to being a LOSER (of weight). So excited for a chance to get it off and keep off.
