Great job at losing weight on an unfill.... I hope you get your problem figured out soon... Keep us updated.... I may be in for an unfill as well, I think I may have reflux who knows i am giving it a try on liquids for the weekend to see if it is just an irritation from my cough (allergies) or maybe worse. I'll be calling Dr. A on monday depending what I feel like....

Sometimes with slippage there are no symptoms, they find it during a barium swallow or endoscopy. Most of the time, if you have slipped you will have reflux, or have a difficult time getting food and liquids down. In Lots of cases you wont be able to swallow anything including Water. If you band slips the first thing the Dr will do is unfill your band. That will correct the problem of not being able to ingest liquids and food, as well as reflux. Some slips are repaired by an unfill, others need more surgery to repair it and, in some cases the band needs to be removed. My Dr. will remove an unrepairable slipped band and place a new one during the same surgery if all else is fine.

I freeze yogurt for my kids to eat as a frozen halthy alternative to ice cream. It is always ok in the frozen state, although i have never thawed it back to normal, I would think it would be ok.. try freezing one tonight and thaw it tomorrow and let me know how it turns out.

Welcome to Bandlandia....! You are still healing, the first 6 weeks are to heal not to lose weight, any weight lost at this time is great, but not to be expected. I am 11 months post op and I thought in the beginning, What have I done???? I felt uncomfortable, thought I could feel the band, thought I would always feel the band. Now I dont even know it is there and I am 100% no... make that 150% glad I had it done and would do it over again in a heartbeat. You too will feel "normal" again, just give it time, you are only a week post op. You're doing great. Some of what u may be experiencing is the Gas they put in you during surgery, that has to work its way out of your body and can be a heavy bloated feeling.

Bands are left empty when they are first put in (although I am sure there are some Exceptions to this) I was able to get my first fill at 6 weeks post op, however, I decided not to get it then, I was still losing weight easily, in fact rapidly. I finally had my first fill about 12 weeks post op.

Relax, follow bandster rules to a "t" that will help u lose weight and will minimize the risks of slippage. Could it still happen? Sure, but don't worry about it, the risk isn't that high.... You'll be fine and a healthier person to boot losing the extra weight.

Thinking and researching the lap band
Alexra replied to cindyn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
my first fill could have been as soon as 6 weeks post op, however, I was losing weight fine and didn't have a fill until 12 weeks. Even after that fill I had little restriction and kept losing weight. I had my second fill in November, had a bit more restriction and my last fill was in January and I think I have enough restriction.... could I use more, sure, however I'd rather be comfortable and losing slowly rather than PBing all the time and losing fast. -
Its Hard work I wish u the best at acheiving your goals....

Thinking and researching the lap band
Alexra replied to cindyn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lots of people find the port creapy because they think it is on the outside. It is actually sewn it into the muscles of the abdomnial wall, u can feel it if u push on it, but it is not abtrusive in any way. Just blends in with the rest of my body. -

I found in the early stages that I had the pain you are describing as well. I learned to stay away from cold even room temp liquids and only do warm, the cooler the liquid the worse the spasms were. I guess the warm relaxed the muscles that were irritated. I hope to meet u soon, Maybe at the group this Wednesday???? if u feel up to it.

That is amazing!

I had a similiar problem, and Linda (the nurse practioner) thought it sounded like a gallbladder attack. Turns out mine was just accoviated to my new exercise program. Check with the office and stay on top of them, I have heard that sometimes gallbladder problems aren't properly diagnosed, and quickly dismissed. Are you coming wednesday night for the support group? If so see ya there. And I hope you feel better.
