Hello, plenty of fluids is important. For me I was very cautious of how much I was drinking. So of course I started with sips as everyone was saying. Then as the days pass, you get the feel of how much fluid you can take at one time. What works for me is I take in a mouth full of whatever liquid and slowly swallow, that's my gulping now. It's hard because I used to be a gulper as well. Although the liquids should pass through fairly quickly.

Congratulations on getting the band, and welcome to this awesome site. I was banded on the 22 of November. So I'm still kinda recovering. I too had a hiatal hernia and my surgeon fixed it as well. Although my pain from that was just below the chest. That horrible pain in your chest is gas from the anesthesia. I had my pain in my shoulder and it was the worse pain. Yea you gotta keep walking around that's the only thing that will relieve the pain. Try the dissolvable gas-x strips. Those helped me a lot. It will get better, believe me. I didn't think it would go away. That's the right attitude, stay super strong. Good luck.

So far I've loss 32 pounds. For me the healing stage was where I lost the most weight cause you can't really do anything and your pretty much on liquids and mushies. Well when I was on mushies I just had my Protein shake in the morning, maybe Jello in the afternoon if I was hungry or pudding/ yogurt and soup at night if I was hungry. As of right now, I transitioned to straight solids already. I'm having eggs and sausage for Breakfast, protein in afternoon with a yogurt if I'm hungry and for dinner I make whatever, turkey breast, chicken breast with cooked veggies. I still have fish. I just look for new recipes. Yesterday I made a cabbage casserole. I've taken out all pastas and breads. Try not to eat those if you don't have to. I've tried that tuna on the go with crackers, that worked well.

So far I haven't had any problems with anything getting stuck, it's been going down smoothly. And thank god I haven't dealt with nausea.

I did not have side cramps sorry. But had the worse shoulder pain. That lasted almost two weeks. Still kinda have a little swelling around one of my incisions. My mushy period was just mainly cream soups, jello, mashed potatoes, fish, beans, lentil soup. Nothing too solid.

Hey how's it going? I picked the band because the sleeve and the bypass are just way to drastic. And your weight comes off too quickly, I want be able to tone some of this skin while my weight is coming off slowly. Buy for me at being 29 and weighing at my heaviest of 330 I don't think my skin will snap back. I'm going to have to deal with excess skin.

Hi I was just banded 12/9. I live in Arlington. Would love to chat! I have questions for you since your further along Congrats on getting banded. Sure, what are your questions?

Same with me, I dealt with bad habits and uncontrolled cravings. I was real bad before my surgery, the two week diet I started eating all the junk I'm probably not gonna eat again and stuffed myself. And I figured since I go to the gym I can just work it off. But now since I figure I can't eat the good stuff like I normally do and enjoy it I might as well not eat it.

Typo chick, I guess you can say I have a support group. A very small one but they don't understand. It is hard, because the same with me food controlled my life. I've been overweight since about the third grade. And now to try and have control over what I put in my mouth is difficult. A large part of my family does not know I've done this either. I just told the people closest to me which is no more then about 5.

Cypress is not far at all. I too am learning as I go. Those papers they give us was pretty much all I was going by, food wise. But kind of exploring a little more with food as I go.

Yea I found support on here Sherlock1969 thanks. This place helped me a few times. What I meant was doing it alone as in nobody I know that has had this done. My family doesn't really know what I'm going through.

Hey how's it going. I myself had Dr. Reilly. My experience with him was great. Not sure how the self pay works for the fills. I was told by true results that if my insurance covers it, it's my copay of 45 if not then it's 75.

Hey, well I had my surgery on 11/22/13. I picked that day because I was going on thanksgiving break. Yea it was a tough decision especially during thanksgiving. But I managed to get through that day and had a lot of self control. But I thought I had plenty of time off work to heal enough to get back. But my doctor put me back with restrictions, light duty and don't lift over 20 pounds. Well my job don't do restrictions and have to able to lift up to 40. So now with that I'm out of work till next year 1/6/14. I don't know what your job requirements are but I'm hoping they let you back with restrictions cause if not you'll probably be out longer then just a week.
-
Well I started this process in June and got my surgery in November. So about five months. What took the longest were those four months I had to do with true results. And that was because it was part of my insurance requirements. After that everything went very fast.

Thank you for sharing. I'm waiting for my first fill cause I wanna be able to fill how this band really works. Yeah I know it's not all the way filled up, so that way I can form my new stomach. And the restriction isn't right enough so it's allowing me to eat a little more. But as far as it's working, I can tell it is. I'm getting full faster but it doesn't last long. So far it had helped me lose 23 pounds in two weeks. The thing I'm wondering about and maybe you can answer it, how did you deal your bodies excess skin, if you had any? Did it just form on its own and fall right into place, with the dieting and a routine work out.

Well at first I went through my regular doctor and got nowhere. Then I saw true results on the tv. They worked with my insurance, had to do four months with them. Blood work, had to talk with a nutritionist, and did a couple of tests for breathing and heart monitoring. Started this back in June and already got my lap band.
