Any veterans want to share information about getting treatment?
TexasD replied to omahajimmyt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just had lapband surgery this week, but even though I'm a veteran, we have tricare because my hubby is retired AF. The whole process took 3 months. Good luck with your journey! -
Can't believe it is finally here! It's all happening so fast! I lost 10 pounds on my pre-op diet so I feel like I'm on my way! The hospital I'm having surgery at is an hour from my home and we are having a bit of a winter storm with 1-3 inches of ice expected. Staying in a hotel next to hospital so we don't have to travel I'm it! I'm so excited!!! Please pray my surgeon can make it in!

I bought in online at www.unjury.com. It's where I get my vitamins too recommend by my doctor. I take the opurity vitamins for people with lapband. Taste good too! I am only sleeping a few hours at a time too but feeling much more rested today!

Things went well! Pretty sore today but not as much as yesterday. I bought some of the Unjury chicken soup and it is awesome! Tastes great and one serving has as much protein as 3 eggs! It's definitely going to be a favorite!! My biggest issue is trying to sleep. Only got maybe 3 hours. Any ideas on that?

I have Tricare Prime as well. So far it hasn't been too difficult insurance wise. I did have to have a referral from my PCP though. I went on the Tricare site, found put which surgeons Tricare allowed and researched until I found one I was comfortable with. Every region is different but I'm in the South region. Good luck with your Journey! I was terrified to ask my PCP for the referral, but all he could say was no, but he didn't! Got my referral approved I one day! Just tell him why you want to do it! you can do this!
