  1. I had my surgery on Sept 27.....I think sometimes this far out if we're not getting enough calories then our bodies go into starvation mode. I'm not getting enough but it seems if I eat more carbs or something I shouldn't that has more calories then I drop a pound. Also, make sure you are getting enough protein...it helps you loose more weight. On the liver shrinking diet before surgery you eat a lot of protein and I lost almost 30lbs in a month....so it really works. Just eat like you should, exercise and it will come off. Hang in there!!

    Nausea After 2 Months

My surgery was Sept 27 and up until this week I have been nauseated almost every meal. One things that caused mine is that I was not eating slow enough. There is an app called "Eat Slower", this has helped me a lot. You don't realize how fast you are eating.... Are you eating your protein first? That is important....Then you should fill up on low starch veggies and then have very little carb. You should introduce one new food at a time and see how you handle it....See if that helps...if not, I would talk to your Dr. or NUT and see what they say.

    Protein Shots

My NUT said at this point not to worry yet about getting all the protein in,,,,just eat it first and get in as much as you can. I'm on a regular diet and still having trouble getting all mine in. But I eat as much as I can and just go from there.
  5. I agree with the above advise. I had my surgery on Sept 27th and my weight has been up and down. I know if I eat more protein and less carbs I loose more. You should eat protein and veggies and a little carbs...they will make you gain weight. Right after surgery when I went to full liquids I couldn't tolerate much and ate a lot of carbs....it showed but that's all I could get down. My weight was the same or I gained. But if I eat more protein I loose weight. Also, If your not eating very much your body goes into starvation mode....I think that's where I have been too because I'm not getting many calories in..... Just do your best...follow the advise of other's, your Dr. and your body will catch up. This is a major change and it takes time....it is a little discouraging at times, but in the end, it will be well worth it. Hang in there....Blessings. Kathy

    I Keep Accidentally Over-Eating!

I guess I didn't realize that with the sleeve you still have to eat slow and watch the portions..... I was suppose to have the by-pass but the Dr. couldn't do it and ended up with the sleeve....so thought I could still eat my normal bites and I'm not really a fast eater, but I haven't really slowed down. I have been having trouble with nausea since my surgery Sept 27th....on every stage....was eating smaller bites and not much so just figured it is a part of the journey.... I don't eat much during the day because I still get so nauseated. Will have to make sure I'm watching more portions and eating slower.... Kathy
  9. Hello, I'm new on here.....my name is Kathy....had my surgery on Sept 27th, 13. Was suppose to have the by-pass but the Dr. was unable to do it because I had too much scar tissue from a gallbladder surgery a long time ago. He worked for an hour to free my colon but said it was getting to much of a risk so he changed it to the sleeve. From all that he did, I retained a lot of Fluid for about 2 weeks....was sick most of that time. Had a C.T. done but all came back ok.... It has now been a little over 2 months since surgery and I still feel nauseated almost every time I eat and or drink...especially plain Water. I have tried all kinds of options but I still feel sick... I'm not getting many calories a day....just don't want to get sick to eat..... I'm not loosing a lot of pounds but I am loosing inches....but want both.... Would appreciate any help or ideas. Thank you, Kathy

    Sick After Surgery?

PdxMan, Thank you so much for the words of advise. I guess I thought that since I didn't have the by-pass I could still eat like I did before...no smaller bites, and I'm not usually a fast eater but probably eat faster than I should. I took all the classes thinking I was having the by-pass and I guess I'm just not sure how to do the sleeve. I really appreciate your advice and will try some of the tips you recommended. Thanks again, Kathy

    When Does This Get Better?

Hello, I'm new to this site.... I had my surgery on Sept 27. And I have pretty much been sick ever since. I can't drink plain Water, I use Crystal Light Green Tea Mango, about they only liquid I can tolerate. But almost anything I eat makes me nauseated....I know I'm not getting in as many calories as I should but I just can't eat that much. I have to be careful taking the vitamins....they upset my stomach too... Hope to find out some answers soon. The dietitian said to do a drink with fruit/veggie/fiber/protein to get what I need.....but I don't want to live on a liquid diet for the rest of my life....I want real food!! Thank you, Kathy
