Changing how I consume my protein
Texasmeg replied to Kindle's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Look around - I like the Kroger brand of Greek Lite yogurt. It has 16g of protein and 8g of carbs. -
I usually have an egg for Breakfast (sometimes with a half piece of whole wheat toast), lunch meat and cheese for lunch (sometimes with a little fruit), and chicken or fish with a little bit of a green vegetable for dinner. Occasionally, I add a tablespoon or two of potatoes or rice. Mid-morning, I usually have a low-carb greek yogurt and mid-afternoon a Protein shake. It's funny - I saw a "challenge" diet on Facebook and it was basically my normal way of eating now. It doesn't seem like a challenge at all!

Those age 50 and above that lost 100lbs
Texasmeg replied to follmerpa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Paul, I am only 5 mos. out, am in my late 50's, and have lost 60 lbs. I expect to lose more - will see what the body does. I'm not finding it didficult, though. -
When food doesn't agree with your tummy?
Texasmeg replied to Unhappysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also nearly 5 months out. Pain is the symptom for me. I can usually eat spicy food - but chicken Szechuan nearly had me doubled over last night. I've learned my lesson about that one! -
I had my bra fitting at Dillard's and they were very good at it.

What month did you first try carbonated drinks?
Texasmeg replied to Unhappysleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Five months out and haven't needed or wanted to do that yet. I used to be a diet coke addict. -
medical bracelets for Sleevers?
Texasmeg replied to skinnygirlwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen some online that look like those plastic bracelets athletic men wear. Go online and shop around. -
I've been doing pilates (very good for the core) and my stomach is flat! I keep looking for muscles as I lose more weight - hoping to see some (not a lot). I have planked in the past and may add that to try to accelerate the efforts.

Eating around the sleeve
Texasmeg replied to Unhappysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, you can drink lots of calories in ways other than alcohol (certain coffee drinks, for example). -
My Dr. Picked one based on the average sleeve wt loss of 60 - 70% and the Nurse Practitioner asked me to pick a lower one.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log
Texasmeg replied to RunningA5K's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's slowing down, but I lost a pound. HW: 232 SW: 223 CW: 173 -
Depends on what awful feeling you are talking about - but I felt pretty normal at 2 mos. At three mos. I felt like I was on top of the world!
-
Don't wait to wear it out - you look great!!!
-
At eight days, it feels like you ran straight into a wall and you wonder what in the world you did to yourself and why. The improvement happens very quickly and you will start to appreciate your choice in a few weeks. Hang in there.
-
Congratulations! Good to have you on the losing side.

Do you miss anything about being Fat? (You're Old Body)
Texasmeg replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate to the part about sleeping - my hip bones seem sharp against the memory foam mattress. I do sometimes miss being able to eat large quantities of food and have 2 or 3 glasses of wine in an evening. Would I go back where I was if I could? Absolutely not!!! I love being more normal in size, but I really love having control over my eating for a change. Very glad I did this!!! -
Question for people who have already been sleeved!
Texasmeg replied to Kquinn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I couldn't have done it - I agree with the advice to put off the surgery until after the wedding. At that point, getting my Water and Protein down so I could stay alive was a full-time job. -
I love my road bike - it goes much faster than my hybrid!

Im gonna lose my stomach?????
Texasmeg replied to AngelaMoniq's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One other thought - with plastic surgery, people loose a lot of unecessary skin (which is also an organ). Just think of the 85% of the stomach as not only unecessary, but counterproductive. -

You look wonderful and it is so inspiring to read about your success! -
What is the benefit of an online support group then, over a book? Most of the books I've seen on bariatric surgery cover these topics.
