I couldn't take a bath until the doctor agreed that the incisions were completely healed ( almost a month).

Texasmeg replied to attractiveval's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi and welcome. Good luck on your approval and surgery! -
My NUT also said Ensure supements were too high in carbs and low in protein. I like Premier and also Muscle Milk Light.

I'm about 9 weeks out and feel like I can enjoy food, but it has taken an appropriate place in my thoughts and my life. I don't obsess over food like I used to and hunger is very manageable. Food is primarily for nutrition now.

That's awful! I'm glad you're doing better though. I hope things go well from here on out. -
Do you still enjoy food?
Texasmeg replied to vincereautmori's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I enjoy food - but I don't think about it as much as I used to. When they used to bring donuts to work, I'd eat one and obsess over the thought of having a second one. Now, I don't eat many sweets, but enjoy a bite and then let it go. One thing I will say, I went through a time after the surgery when I felt like I'd ruined the pleasure that I get enjoying food and drinks with friends. That has passed as I eat more normal food in smaller portions. -
What Do I Tell My Employer For Time Off? Want To Keep My Privacy
Texasmeg replied to ursiboo72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My company has us submit the medical forms to a third party company (Metlife) who certifies the short term disability and eligibility for FMLA. It keeps it confidential that way. -

Unexplained bruising

I am pretty sure I read that is a sign of not getting enough Protein. Of course, other things can cause it, too. -
What's For Breakfast Today?
Texasmeg replied to one_more_time's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One hardboiled egg - usually I fry it (in Pam) or have yogurt. On Sunday I had two pieces of center cut bacon - it was yummy! -

Neuropathy or Sciatica history
Texasmeg replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One other thing - my insurance would not use herniated discs for a pre-existing condition (meaning, I assume, that they didn't expect it to improve with WLS). -
Neuropathy or Sciatica history
Texasmeg replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do have the same thing (two herniated discs) and researched it before getting sleeved. It seems to make sense that loosing weight would relieve some of the pressure, right? In my research I found that, for some people, it can actually cause pain when they didn't have it before. They think it is because they change positions (go from sway back to compensate for a large belly to standing straighter). The other thing is, my Doc. hasn't let me take NSAIDs yet (I'm usually on Meloxicam). He sad to wait for 3 mos. if I need them. That said, I am 2 mos. out, 33 lbs. lighter, and my back has felt good. I had one small bout with pain - but not bad. Disclaimer: I did have cortisone shots 6 mos. ago and that may be the reason. Good luck! -

HW: 232 SW: 223 (Dec. 31) CW: 199 I'm in Onderland!!! -
I used to be very stressed out about work and now I'm not. Stress always led to overeating and so I worried about how I would handle it after the surgery - but it hasn't been an issue so far (7.5 weeks after surgery). My sister thinks the surgery affected my hormones and I am different (more relaxed and patient).

Question for those who had lower start BMI/under 100 pounds to loose
Texasmeg replied to Bluesea71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'6". I weighed 232 to start and 223 at surgery. At 7 wks, I've lost about 32 lbs. my goal is low 160's, but I'd love to lose more. I am starting to sag a bit in the belly but not anywhere else. I am over 50, so I'm sure that doesn't help. Good luck! -
help! full liquid diet!
Texasmeg replied to katt1584's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I strained them - so there was nothing to chew. Later, I blended in some of the chicken and vegies, but no potatoes or noodles. -
help! full liquid diet!
Texasmeg replied to katt1584's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite thing was to strain Healthy Choice lite cream soups. The best one was chicken pot pie, but there was also a cheesy chicken enchilada one that was very good. -
I had to stay on full liqids for 5 weeks and three days. I don't know if I lost weight faster, but was going a little crazy by the end of it. I think everyone agrees you should follow your NUT and Doctor's instructions.
