HW: 232 SW: 223 CW: 180 52 pounds lost! -
Me too, Idairene, I am much more comfortable, but the cost is amazing! I started hand washing my bras to make them last longer - though I will probably change size again so may not be worth the trouble!

57 year old low bmi post op 4/24
Texasmeg replied to Sha0717's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks. I am 5'6". I think my BMI was 37 when I started - now I am overweight instead of obese. High blood pressure can be a comorbidity and joint pain may be osteoarthritis, also a comorbidity. Why your family doc? My Bariatric Surgeon worked with the insurance. Where are you? I'm in Dallas, TX. -
I lost 37 lbs in the first 3 mos. - may not be as much as some, but I'm thrilled that I lost it forever and am continuing to lose!

Cruel to be Kind? Just kidding. No, it is "You Gotta Be" by Des'ree - You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser. You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger. Love will find a way."

I was told to count them.

I, like many of the others, have been a stress eater and I used it to numb feelings. I can also trace it back to childhood issues. The thing is, I think that (in a twisted way) I was trying to care for myself by the overeating. That is a good instinct and I don't want to lose it. I am trying to find healthier ways to nourish my mind and body and to manage my feelings. -
What did your NUT tell you? Mine did not give a caloric intake, just that: 1. I should eat no more that a salad plate of food for a meal. 2. It should be 70% Protein, 20% vegie, 10% starch 3. I should eat the protein first 4. No more than 2 Snacks a day 5. 60 - 65 g of protein a day

An Alien Has Taken Over My Reflection

I reached way back in my closet yesterday for some clothes I thought might fit now (though I thought I was still too big) and tried them on. I was swimming in them and there is no way I could wear them out! -

I just loved the title of this posting! Sometimes we realize what we are giving up, but others get us by surprise. We get so much more in return, though. -

I suggest you also consider the risks of obesity in your decision. -
DFW TX Surgeon selection? (Dallas / Ft. Worth)

I was sleeved by Dr. Cribbins and Presby Plano and had an excellent experience. I can't say enough good things about the doctor, his staff, and the bariatric center of excellence at Presby Plano. Dr. Cribbins is knowlegable and experienced and, at Presby Plano, I was on a floor with nothing but bariatric patients - so the staff also had a lot of experience. Not to say it was always easy (the first week is pretty rough), but I was confident in the medical staff. Good luck with your surgery - maybe I'll see you at a support group meeting. -
I lost the first week and then quit losing for 2 - 3 weeks. It is frustrating (especially when everything is so hard), but it will pass. Hang in there - you are doing what you need to do to care for yourself.

I am surprised that I don't miss diet coke. I sometimes miss pasta and bread, but not like I thought I would. -
December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Texasmeg replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We have a backyard pool and I bought two new bathing suits - a size too small. I can't wait to wear them - my belly is so flat now! -
I also have a herniated disk, but was taking meloxicam before surgery. My surgeon told me afterwards that I couldn't take it "for a while" and it worried me. I had cortisone shots 6 mos. ago and I think they helped - I did pretty well. The nurse practioner told me I could start again after 3 mos. I did, and after 3 days I started having stomach pain. I went off the meloxicam & went on a full liquid diet for a day. I don't know if it was connected - but I think I'll avoid them for now. Good luck!
