Getting frustrated and down
Tamlyn replied to jhood2005's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've been feeling the exact same way these days. I have 34 more days until my surgery (I have a countdown app on my phone), and I think knowing it's so close is making me much more aware of all the problems I've been ignoring for the past I don't even know how long. I'm so tired of being exhausted and achy all the time. And being out of breath. I'm half considering starting my pre-op liquid phase a little early, just because I want to be doing something already. -
Nobody else knows what it feels like to be in your body. Only you. And different people feel healthy and/or unhealthy at different weights. If you feel like WLS is right for you, and your doctor is on board with it, then that should be all that matters to anyone else.

I have to do the two week diet, too. My surgery is scheduled for July 29. I'm thinking that I'm going to work my way up to it by starting to have Protein smoothies and making vegetable juice for breakfasts for the next couple of weeks. Good luck!

You look fabulous! Well done!! -
My daughter is 6, and she's a skinny little thing. I grew up with a mother who was constantly talking about getting skinny (ironically, she wasn't terribly large at the time, maybe a 14/16), so I have never talked badly about my weight in front of my daughter and she doesn't know I'm going to have WLS. We talk about how some foods are nutritionally better choices than others and that it's better to eat more of the healthy stuff and have sweets and stuff like that for occasional treats, but I don't say things like "good foods" and "bad foods." I don't want to give them the allure that forbidden food has for me. She's also inherited her dad's family's build, and they're all tall, thin and athletic as heck. So she's got that going for her. I am just trying not to mess her up!

Looking for July Sleevers!
Tamlyn replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would love to join the group, if it's a secret one. I haven't told anybody I'm getting sleeved, and I think a few of my relatives would keel over if that came up in their FB feed! -

Things that I can't wait for or even imagine!
Tamlyn replied to Jboyd2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
In addition to all those fabulous things, I am looking forward to not getting squeezed when I sit in booths in a restaurant. (And not having my boobs sitting on the table in front of me! That'd be nice. I'm tired of the three of us having lunch together!) And for the arm rest in my car to go all the way down. And to wear something besides black stretchy shorts and Just My Size tee shirts in the summer. Most boring summer wardrobe EVER! Also, I want to get into my husband's pants. Like, literally. I've never been small enough to borrow his clothes, and I SO want to! -
Congratulations! I'm getting sleeved on the 29th of July.

Hi Amy! I have a six year old daughter, and I feel exactly the same way. I can't wait to be able to run around with her and be a more fun mom, instead of a capable-but-tired-and-sitting-on-the-sidelines mom. I am having my surgery on July 29, and I can't wait! Good luck with your consultation. I hope it all goes smoothly and quick for you.

I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?

one week post op depression
Tamlyn replied to sleevedinmichigan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't had my sleeve done yet, so I can't speak from experience. But even if it was something that you were really wanting to do, you've still just been through a major operation and it sounds like you're having a tough initial recovery, plus you're on a really restrictive diet so you're not getting the best nutrition right now. It's probably not uncommon to feel depressed sometimes with all that going on. I hope that as your body heals and you feel physically better, your mood starts to lift, too. -
How do you choose what surgery is right for you.
Tamlyn replied to tipp2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If my stomach ends up looking like Bieber, I'm suing somebody! I am going with the sleeve, for the same reasons listed above. I would rather have less disruption to my digestive system, if I can get away with it and still have positive results. I was initially looking at banding, but I finally decided against having an implant because my insurance doesn't cover it and I was afraid if I had problems later, they wouldn't pay for removal. I kind of feel like there isn't really a "right" answer, and that different things work for different people. And I'm sure you'll figure out which is the best for you. -
Hi! I've been a long time lurker on the site and I'm just now getting up the nerve to post. I'm hoping/planning to get sleeved this summer. My insurance doesn't cover WLS (thank you, stupid employer), so I'll be self pay and I think I'll be having it done in Mexico. I haven't decided which doctor yet, but I'm excited. And nervous. And thrilled. And worried. And happy. And scared.

Hi Molly! I'm new here, too.
