    Anyone have the Mirena?

So I am getting the mirena today because it was required for me in order to get WLS... I'm a little nervous because I have read countless forums where women have reported gaining weight and not being able to keep off the weight with the Mirena iud. My question for you is do you have a mirena? And if so have you noticed it is harder to lose or maintain weight with it?
  2. I have the hardest time taking compliments. It's like I'm not used to them, they make me feel awkward, and half the time I'm unsure I believe them. But now that they are coming more frequently and from more people I myself am finally starting to believe, hey maybe they are right. Right now I am trying to learn how to say thank you and take a compliment instead of pretending I didn't hear it and quickly changing the subject, or laughing, or saying "ya right". It's all so new.

WLS has made me a judgemental jerk!

If you don't want advice or constructive criticism why even post? So you have more people to practice your jerky behavior on? You need a serious reality check lady.

Hey there. I had the bypass so idk how much difference there is in restriction but I just tried bread and I was only able to eat 1/8 of a sandwich and 1/2c of soup. Have you had any follow up in the states? Maybe have them do a scan and make sure everything looks "normal" inside. This far out you should be healed enough to feel restriction. What does your primary care physician say?
  7. My program didn't give a sugar restriction or goal. They just said eat 1200 calories a day and make good choices.

I love Dr.Kim, he is excellent. He checked on me 4 times last week because he knew I was traveling to a warmer climate and was worried about dehydration (having a hard time with fluids). It was like he took extra good care of me, my scars are tiny, I mean tiny and they didn't even bruise. I'll send you a pic if you'd like.

So I am 12 weeks out and only consuming 400-450 calories per day. My surgeon said I should be getting no less than 900-1000 calories a day at three months out. I don't understand how I could possibly eat that much, I'd have to force myself to eat all day long! I feel like I am sucking at this.

The doctor gave me this breathing toy that I have to use 10 times an hour. Guess that would sound pretty funny if you didn't know what it was for. Ahh the incentive barometer thing!! I didn't use that as much as I was supposed to, which would be why I forgot about it, I couldn't remember to use it when I had it! Lol

Most people don't have time to make their own sauces. I often do crock pot chicken Cooked with salsa, I shred it up and eat it on salads all week. I feel it's important to eat a balanced diet. Sugar and carbs included (complex) in moderation of course. Congrats on you for your loss. Different strokes for different folks. because I still consume a smidge of sugar doesn't mean I am not worthy of the surgery or that my surgery is a "waste". I eat anything I want in moderation. This isn't a diet and I refuse to obsess over and be consumed by what I am eating. I just am overwhelmed by your audacity to criticize someone using taco seasoning. I literally LOL'd. Cheers!

This initially was the recipe I started with http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/turkey-chili-recipe3.html I however did add extra tomatoes (second canned drained) and I added a can of chili beans and more onions and bell pepper. I think I also used more chili powder and Tabasco. All in all it was fantastic!

3 months out I'm sure you can consume solid protein by now? Start with soft boiled chicken or fish and then slowly move on to other styles (grilling, etc). Eat what you like - don't go the beef way yet tho! Give that some more time... You should be gettin some protein from whole foods as they said. I have a really hard time with meat unless it's slow cooked in a crock pot and shredded. I made an awesome protein packed turkey chili last night that I'll prob eat off for several days. It sits really well with me.
