I hear you, today has been pretty tough for me as well. ikeep telling myself that I only have 10 more days to go. I REALLY just want this to be over with! Hey, you only have 8 more days!

I have had a couple of people tell me wls is the 'easy' way out. There is nothing easy about making a life long change that the band brings to our lives. It is a life long commitment and I dont think most look at it as a 'magic pill' but rather a tool to live a more healthy and satisfying life.

I have fitday but I have been at sparkpeople.com - I really like it there

Hmmm, I have one friend who is remarkable unsupportive. I honestly wish I had never told her about it in the first place. I did not tell too many people, my mom, grandma, husband, and 4 very close friends. With the exception of this one riend everyone has been super about it. I think the unsuportive friend has her own issues and me being 100 pounds overwieght makes it easier for her to feel good about the 50 or so pounds she claims she needs to lose. I dont accept negativity and I look at it as her problem rather than mine. It sucks that I dont want to talk to her too much about it because it iss an exciting journey that Iwant to share with those I am close to. I have not told anyone else in my family because I know they would not understand and I dont feel like explaining and reexpailning and justifying etc over and over again.

thanks everyone, I dont have much luck with tylonel mysleft but I will still begiving it a try. I think I will havebetter luck if I can alternate ibupforin (if doc allows it) and tylonel. -
My insurance wants a list of comorbidities. To my knowledge, I do not have diabetes or any of the other more obvious comorbidities. I do have plantar facitis (sp?), tendonitis in my knees, incontinence, lowered sex drive - that type of thing. Do these count? Do you have any examples of other comorbidities? Chronic Fatigue Sydrom? I really want to be thourogwhen filling out my medical history form.

I am not 'fat' enough??!!!
gingerbug replied to 100lbsforsale's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did it. I gained a littleweight becuase Iwas on the verge of havinginsurance pay and it wass worth it.It only took me two weeks and i felt sick. I weighted heavy enough then it took a week of high fiber to start feelingbetter. It is always scary to gain weight, expecially on purpose, but it saves thousands of dollars in the long run. -
someone please tell me what PB and sliming mean? Yes, I am a newbie.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off

awesome, a swing! And I hate having to wonder if I am too heavy for things that have a weight limit!! -
I called yesterday on a whim and my acceptance letters were sent out that same day. I could do the procedure pretty quickly but it seems that I have to have someone there with me and someone has to watch my kids. I have to be at the center at 5am and the hourly daycare center does not open till 8am. I am from minnesota so I dont have any family here in texas! Talk about obsticles! My husband is an offshore diver and is on call 24/7 so having him home on exactly the right time is only half my problem. I think I really need to find a babysitter in houston who is willing to be at by place at 4:30 in the morning LOL. I figure I might have to wait till the first week of january for when my mom is planning a visit and between now and then I can work out who can watch my kids. In the meantime, i need to sort through and get prepared for what is coming. I keep hearing that I will loose my hair and I am really interested to hear when that happens and how bad it is and can it be prevented. I suppose it will grow back, I am more interested in being about to shop off the sale rack at target in regular size clothes than what my hair will look like for a while. I get to be skinny again. I am so thrilled. So, if you read this far, *applause* and thanks. If you ahve any tricks or words of wisdom, or can give me any ideas of what to expect and what could make life easier between now and my surgury as well ass what I can do w=once I get home. Great big thanks, everyone!

I have two kids, ages 4 and 1 1/2 and I am curious how I will manage with their needs fter surgury. I am a stay at home mom. The youngest can get in and out of his high chair and his big sister is a big help. I can get on teh floor to change dipes and hold him but I still have some concerns. My husband is an offshore diver and is gone a lot and oncall 24/7. I am curious if others have the same things they have to deal with.

Anyone have kids under 5 AND the lapband?
gingerbug replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Seems like i have been worrying for nothing. I hope to have help the first couple of days and the most I should have to pick up the 1 1/2 year old is to put him in his pack n play (whre he sleeps). I was hoping I would be back to normal after 4 days or so. I live on the second floor apartment here and carrying groceries will be an issue but since I wont be eating that much (LOL) it will be easy to stock up for the kiddos! -
sahm means stay at home mom! I will love to come when my husband is home - he is a diver and is offshore a lot and I never really know if he will be home on a certain day.

Well, its not a comment from a skinny person but Iwent home to visit my family after not seeing them in about a year. I had lost a few pounds working out in the gym and was down a whole size. Well, my family will never comment when you loose (theyare heavy themselves) but they take any moment to comment on my size. She told me it looked like I had gained weight since she lasst saw me. I was like, "are you freaking kiddingme? The last time you saw me I was 8 months pregnant!!!" I think she did notice I lost and she struggles with ehr weight anddid not want me feeling good about it. I only told a couplepeople about getting the lapband, I haveno intention on telling them at all. I would love to see them try to tell me I gained weight when I get to my goal!!! LOL They can try to put me down all they want, I will be laughing my way all the way to the store where i get to buy my size 10 jeans!! -
I live in League city and I will bebanded the beginning of January (or sooner, if everything falls into place!) I have two little kids so any support group I join would have to be kid friendly. Anyone have kids? Mine are 4 and 1 1/2.

I have a serious but kind of gross question!
gingerbug replied to cookielover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, as a mom of two kids I had to LMAO at this post! I have no advice but I really hope you are feeling better!! -
Thanks everyone, such good advice. I am waiting for more details regarding what my insurance will cover and what kind of hoops I have to jump through. I was told that my weight makes me really close to a BMI of 40 whichmeans I would not need comorbidities. I am in freakishly good health for being obese! I need to 'weight heavy' ina couple of weeks at my appointment. She told me I would weigh fully clothed and with shoes, height with no shoes. "Weighing heavy' leaves so much room for interpretation!! I had taco bell for lunch, I thought that would be a good start. LOL
-
or BMI of 40 or more? Does that sound right? I took notes when I was on the phone with my insurance co. and it seems that if my BMI was at least 40 I did not need any comorbidities. Does that sound right to any of you?
