I find that if I eat a few more calories I have more success at losing weight. Too few calories and too many calories have a negative impact. If I am low on protien for the day or am not hungry but only ate 500 calories that day, I will have a low cal protien shake to make sure I eat enough to keep me going. It is not a habit of drinking calories, it is all a part of tracking how many calories I eat. Iwill always chose food, first, over a shake.

I plan on using them when I need to boost calories or as a 'hold me over' snack until meal time. I look at them as a vehicle for protien and other nutrients. I also make sure they are as low calorie as possible and they are added into my tracking of daily calorie lists.

Hello from Houston Texas
gingerbug replied to NHAYGOOD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded by Dr. Hollis two days ago!! I really like him. The moment he told me I would never have to diet again it felt like a huge weight was lifted. I knew at that moment I could achieve this and I knew I picked teh right doc. I dont know if he has support groups but I know there is a messege board on the trueresults webpage. Let me know if you kind out there is one! -
Oh, I know what you mean. We eat really healthy foods at myhouse and I cook from scratch and rarely buy boxed convience food. We eat ground turkey instead of beef, etc, etc. My problem is portion control. I have no problem eating healthy. Might explain why I have a bmi of 40 yet a really low cholseterol level and a great BP. Weird.

I think I am more scared of dying from complications from obesity than I was of the surgery itself. The lifestyle change is a positive force in my life that will extend my life and improve my relationships with other people. My point is, keep your chin up, always look for something positive. It is very very exciting. Oh, and, congrats on getting approved!!

A little tender to day, I must admit. The gas is starting to go away but in insisions are way tender and itch! I guess that is what happens when healing, though. I have been doing great with drinking water and i hada watered down protien shake yesterday. Even that made me full and Iused twice the water. I wnat nothing to do with food. I like that feeling. So, when I counted there were over 20 people getting banded between January 2nd and today. Howis everyone?

Dh brought me to walgreens and target. I had to do a refill on my perscription so we just meandered about slowly. Iam tired now but feel pretty good as the walking helped with the gas.

Dear ex stepdad You are a sick fuck and you owe me a huge karmic debt for what you did to me. You are going to be reincarnated over and over again in your miserable life until you learn. I, on the other hand, get to move forward. I can look at myself in the mirror every morning. Can you?

I am glued and steri stripped here. -
Well, I read once that eating food hot is an aquired taste we learn from a young age. I personally prefer the majority of my food cold. Is itpossible that you have had a change in tastes?

for this year. I am thrilled that the journey to a healthy me is about to begin. I spent YEARS dealing with this weight drama and sadly, i wasted so many years thinking I was fat when I was not. Hindsight is always 20/20 - if I knew then what I knew now I would have made some better choices. Being that as it may, I feel like I havea fresh start. My kids are getting older with the younges going on 2 this spring and my oldest going to pre-k this coming fall. All you moms out there understand how much you sacrifice for the sake of the family yet we dont pump as much effort into ourselves and our wellbeing. I feel as this is my time to focus on me. Before the kiddos came I was very hard on myself. Being older and having kids gave me an opportunity to appreciate what my body is capable of and I now approach my well being with kindness, forgiveness and purpose. This is going to be a year of positive change for all of us who are getting banded in January and I wish the very best to all of you sharing this journey.

groggy and sore. It took a lot to shake the groogyness. The nurse helped me get dressed pretty quickly and was really really nice. I went to recovery area for my post op instructions and they weheeled me out. -

My mother is flying in to help me this week and will be here tomorrow evening to help keep an eye on the kids this week. My hubby is an offshore diver and will most likely be gone the whole week on a job. So, my mom is one of those unique mix of over enthusiastic and indulgant grandmas that let my kids do ANYTHING they want. It is my only hope that no one needs emergency care while she is in charge! It shocks me that someone who was so strict when I was a kid is so laid back now. Gotta love her but the women will drive me to hide in the corner of a dark closet while I quietly go insane.
