Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
gingerbug replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got mine out of vanity. I had no co morbidities so even at 295 pounds I was freakishly healthy. I just did not want to be fat anymore and nothing else was working. I personally think that most of us are motivated by vanity and the health issues are a catalyst to get things going. That being said, it is weird to me to speculate whether or not another person is 'worthy' of this surgury. -
My .02 cents, for what it is worth. Oprah is a tw@twaffle. I a so annoyed with her giving away cars (for publicity) and opening schools (again, for publicity), and I personally think she fluctuates her weight on purpose so she can have some sort of human interest publicity 'relate to the little people' story. I mean, with the weight issues this country (and others) faces, who does not want to see someone like Oprah 'fall from grace'? She is a PITA.

For those of you with good restriction, how do you get in enough calories?

My first thought would be that the personal trainer has something to gain from you thinking you need to change your workout! -

I have been busting a move on the elliptical for an hour at a time and I burn about 500-600 calories. Iam working out at the higher end of my target heartrate. -
I think we are officially off topic!

My doc does too, protien shakes are fine. I wish they made lactose free ones that I could buy in a can instead of making my own. -
Keep me posted!

My husband is offshore in Nigeria () until the end of march and since I am 'this close' to goal I plan on pounding it out at the gym so I can look fantastic when he comes home. To make it even sweeter, we are going home to MN for a visit when he gets home and only a couple people have seen me as the weight was coming off. It is going to be fun. Anyway, I am thinking about getting a trainer for a few sessions and setting up a 30 minute workout (not including warm up and cool down) that involves free weights and the bosu ball. I am doing a lower heart rate fat burning instead of cardio and yoga and pilates. I would LOVE to hear what everyone else is doing and what seems to be working for you.

How forthcoming are you to people when they ask what you did to lose weight?

Telling them you have tapeworm has my vote (I think I read that on a different thread) LMAO -
I haven't been here in over a year ... and I'm not in my happy place
gingerbug replied to CaroleK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
They cant make you get more fluid in your band than what you want. Can you tell them to take it slow on your fills so you can go at your pace? You wont deal with the docs when you go in for fills (at least I dont) and maybe the nurses will be more considerate. -
saggy boobs... will they bounce back?
gingerbug replied to Babe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My girls are pretty small and I used to be happy thinking that my perky 'lil bits were going to stay so perky because they were too small to be subjected to gravity. Jokes on me. Now they are little AND saggy. Pitiful. I am getting implants eventually. -
You are killing me. Now I cant stop thinking about reeses.

I am a big fan of 'zen' poops. Effortless and clean (as clean as one could expect) -
Lets not forget my personal favorite, 'what is a pb'?:sneaky:

I would sure hope so. Hearing the person next door yelling their praises would totally ruin the mood for me. -

So what does it mean if you drink lots of water, eat lots of protein, limit your fat and still have neither a sinker or a floater? A 'stuck-er', if you will. -

that is my thought process, too. However, the nurse at the docs office tells me that if I can eat 4-6 ounces at a time three times a day without getting stuck then I have 'good' restriction. By those guidelines, I have good restriction. I just cant imagine how anyone can have enough calories eating 4-6 ounces of lean Protein and veggies. I would have no problem eating 5-6 times a day. I have a problem timing getting my fluids and eating throughout the day with having to wait certain amounts of time between the two. I think smalle and more frequent meals might by the way to go for me, though. -
Just trying to do my part :sneaky:

Oh, I wish I could tell you today but I dont think it is going to happen! I need more 'smooth move' tea, I think!

I am wondering the same thing. I kicked up my working out into top gear and am at the gym 6 days a week for 40 to 60 minutes each time. I work off 75% to 100% of the calories I eat each day which is 500-600. Today I put a tablespoon of peanut butter on an apple wedge for a boost. Totally not healthy but hit that 'spot'. Peanut butter is a pretty mild junk food, though, so I am not too concerned. I am going to give it about 3 mmore weeks to see if my increased gym time needs to just meld with my body and if I am still at the same weight, I plan to go in for an unfill. I hit my first goal with only 8 pounds till my second goal so I am not worried about gaining, at this point. I feel I need about 400 more calores a day, though, to sustain the 600 calories a day workouts I have been kicking out. -

If I were able to take a crap I would tell you. I have heard the sinking/floating thing before in regards to too much fat in ones diet.
