OK, so this is maybe the third stupidest thing I've read on this board. Seriously?

What Are Some Things You Can't Wait for POST OP?
VSGAnn2014 replied to Denise73's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
This is a great thread. Heartfelt, happy, funny, and bittersweet. I feel everyone's dreams and pains. -
Y'all enjoy yourselves. I'm off to exercise with different people. Move it, move it, move it!

If you are asking for advice...
VSGAnn2014 replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I echo everyone who's thanked the vets for hanging here and being so kind to the newbies. As the old song goes, you'll have stars in your crown. -
Please call your doctor.

maintaining..now that you are a few years out
VSGAnn2014 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Ah, the unending struggle with food and weight. All my friends are slim and healthy. And they also have an unending struggle with food and weight. The difference between them and me is that they struggled just a little bit harder than I did. I used to think they were nuts -- why worry about your Fitbit steps when you're 5'6" and weigh 125 pounds? Why write down all your food in My Fitness Pal when you're 5'5" and weigh 130? I'm thinking a bit differently about all this now. And I am (finally?) appreciating that the Food Gods aren't mean only to me. They are tough on everyone. -

Just saw this. I hope you're doing better, RJ, and (as others have said) this is your last complication. You're such a good member on this board. Thanks for all your wisdom and advice. -
Hmmmm. Fat, lazy, obese, couch potatoes. Encouraging words?

Who is a "good" candidate vs. a "bad" candidate for surgery?
VSGAnn2014 replied to Skywalker's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'll explain "Come to Jesus moment." It's when the clouds part, and "you see the light." You hear. You see. You believe. In other words, you experience a massive "Aha!" moment. ;=] -
even after all this time... struggling with the whole "you eat like a bird"
VSGAnn2014 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in The Gals' Room
Interesting thread. Thanks for starting it, Cowgirl. I'm betting (in the US, especially -- which is the FATTEST place in the world, eh?) almost everyone is thinking about food almost all the time. Fat, skinny or "normal" (whatever that is!), our culture teaches us that food is good and food is bad. In my experience, this doesn't happen in some other cultures like (parts of) France, Netherlands, India, Germany, etc. But it's more likely to be present in cultures where food, eating, cooking are the principal ways of socializing and entertainment. I agree with all those on this thread who have commented that it's socially inept, if not downright rude, to comment on others' eating and diets. In fact, it's almost as socially inept / rude / inappropriate / clueless as a BP newbie telling a BP veteran that she has an eating disorder. JerseyCityGal, lrn2lurk. -
I hope you realize how incredibly fast that is, compared to pretty much everyone else I've heard of. Congratulations (with a little bit of envy)!

I'm like Lynne -- I'm good down to size 12. After that, it's gonna get expensive! -
1. Honesty with yourself. Get on the scale and weigh. 2. Accountability. Put your ticker up here. Share a bit more of our weight journey here. 3. Find and use your resources. I assume you were under a doctor's care earlier. Make an appointment with the doctor and keep it. Return to your support group. (My surgeon told me that the people who are most successful long-term with WLS are those who stay connected to their doctor's program / nutritionist / exercise person / support group. 4. Focus on the future. The past is over and, frankly, it does not matter at all. Today matters. Tomorrow matters. Everybody's in the same boat on that front. 5. Give yourself a big hug for caring about yourself. Self-love is the best gift we can give ourselves.

Scared to eat!
VSGAnn2014 replied to Bigmommatojacob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm delighted some of you enjoyed my possible answers for bigmomma. Here are some more -- some of which I thought of, and some of which I found elsewhere online. 1. I don't know. How much do YOU weigh? 2. Less than I used to -- more than I will next year. 3. 119. 4. Not sure, but I've lost at least 50 pounds. 5. Why do you want to know? (That's from Dear Abby.) 6. I'm feeling wonderful! How about you? 7. That's a question ladies never answer. And it's one that ladies / gentlemen never ask. It's a lot of fun to come up with your own answers. And it's even more fun to imagine saying these things (each of them!) out loud to those people who know how to get under our skin. -

VSGAnn2014 replied to mi75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very best wishes for you two. It sounds like you're both ready and, appropriately, nervous about this big change in your lives. Please let us know how you're doing post-op. ((hugs)) -

One becomes a writer by writing. You don't need to feel better to write. You just have to write. That's all. The more words, the better. You don't need to edit yet. Just write. Write.

Jabedn, I'm sorry you're feeling so isolated during this journey you are obviously succeeding on. I hope you can find support here.

Boy, I hope my surgery and immediate recovery goes as swimmingly as yours has. That's great to contemplate. I think I'll visualize that. And visualize it some more.

you would think (rant about my new doctor)
VSGAnn2014 replied to moonlitestarbrite's topic in Rants & Raves
Yeah, you guys whose doctors and you are not on the same page really do need to find new docs. It might mean having to drive a bit farther. So what -- make it a field trip. And for the flu, go to an urgent care center closer by (if that works for you). Good luck! -
