@@kitkatcannon ... I wish you all the luck in the world in quitting smoking. I can tell you really want to. As hard as it is, sooo many people achieve it -- different ways. Whatever way will work best for you is what's best for you. Best wishes, Ann

Approaching my 4-year surgiversary
VSGAnn2014 replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good thread. So appreciated when the vets tell their long-term story like Blackberry juice did. Thanks, BBJ! -
There are crazy people in this world who are also selfish, mean, manipulative, greedy, narcissists. You really cannot fix those folks. They won't let you. P.S. Knowing what I know about how reality shows are crafted, written, directed, there has to be at least one patient like her on that show for it to be as successful as it is. Audiences want to be outraged and feel self righteous. On that show, her role was to provide that outrage. She was well cast.

3 week stall at 3 months, halfway to goal
VSGAnn2014 replied to karensdRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a consult with my exercise consultant a few weeks ago, and she said she actually has a workout routine for people in any situation--even those who break their foot or leg. So that means somewhere on the Internet is a workout for that (probably). If you're lucky enugh to have access to an exercise consultant as part of your surgical proram, make an appointment ASAP. And no, after three months, the tool's efficacy does not end. You just have to do what works. I'd say use all the resources you have -- your nuritionist, your exercise consultant, your support group. Good luck! -
The severity of symptoms from shingles varies dramatically -- depending on fast you got to a doctor and got the antiviral medicine into your bod, and where the breakout is.

Speed up weight loss after sleeve
VSGAnn2014 replied to Sleevegirl2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Perhaps we could address your question if you told us how much and what you're eating and how much you're exercising, and your age, height, starting weight, etc. -
12 months out! FINALLY
VSGAnn2014 replied to shelly513's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You really are a knockout. I wish for you continued health success and other success in life as well. You've done such a good job. -
I can only offer this perspective: It's pretty standard for women going through "a bad divorce" (however you define that) to lose weight. Divorce is the second most stressful experience most people go through in life. In fact, you should google: divorce diet. It happens to many people. It happened to me in my 30s. But you're right to be concerned. Divorce is usually followed by a lot of other high-stress events, e.g., moving to a new house, maybe changing jobs, maybe even moving to another city, starting a new relationship, financial stresses. In your shoes right now, I would SO be in therapy!

The Good with the bad
VSGAnn2014 replied to Georgia Pritchett's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is one reason why it's much easier to work with a full-service bariatric center, where all those people and appointments are under the same roof -- and (THIS IS A BIG DEAL!) they are all on the same computer system. -

50-60% Excess weight loss in 2 years

There is a massive !! amount of wisdom in this thread. Thanks to each of you for sharing what's working well for you. You're all my role models. Ann -
Actually, it's excellent advice, assuming you want to achieve what the writer assumes you want to achieve, which could be true or not. (A once-upon-a-time-but-no-longer-and-never-will-be-again gym rat)

I'm not sure. The only hoop I have left is meeting with the nutritionist. I don't know whether I'll be expected to eat a certain way for a specific time or not. I plan to go into that meeting with a 3-ring binder of My Fitness Pal records for several months, showing the food choices I'm making, my water consumption, etc. That's what I did at my required exercise consultant meeting a week ago -- walked in with my Fitbit and My Fitness Pal records. Then she gave me a short fitness test, and performed (speed wise) exactly as I (and my records) predicted I would perform. She was very impressed. In short, I'm trying to "advance place" forward as fast as possible. Then comes insurance approvals (with Medicare and Medicare supplemental should be fast), then surgery scheduled, then two-week pre-op protein diet. Then surgery. I suppose (and am hoping) my surgery could happen as early as mid-August. In other words, I'm trying to do everything I can to speed things up, while being a relatively patient, cooperative patient. You know the drill, I'm sure.

After reading complications people are going through years later with the SLEEVE... I'm too scared now to do it!

Have you changed the way you're eating / exercising / medicating? Any other information you could volunteer?

This made me laugh out loud! -
Hey, everyone. I'm 68 1/2. And I'm still waiting for surgery, going through the hoops, feeling gung ho about this surgery. I'm already exercising, counting my Protein grams, drinking lots of Water, and started seeing a shrink. I'm going into this journey the "rightest" way I know how. Glad to be among a group of folks who have learned a lot from life. It's especially great to hear from those who are further along than I.

Funny! I like funny posts. And you look absolutely gorgeous. Welcome home.

Apparently "sx" means surgery. And not sex.

It's a tough subject. Something's got to give. We've got to figure this out. Too many humans are dying too young and living miserable lives because of obesity.

What do you miss most after Weight Loss Surgery?

It sounds like you will have to explore other sources of your own "strength." It's a big subject, and one worth exploring. Best to you. -
Insurance denied revision to bypass from sleeve

I don't think you should worry. A leak post-op would be a very different situation than the one described in the OP.
