  1. That is SO WEIRD that you never had an ultrasound for two years! That's exactly what should have been ordered for you. That's the first thing my bariatric surgeon's nurse told me to do when I called the office 10 days post-WLS reporting the same symptoms you had. It was the first time I'd ever had them. She told me to go to the ER immediately and get an ultrasound. And yes, there they were -- 30 little stones winking up at me. Had my GB taken out 2 weeks later by my bariatric surgeon. No problems at all in the nearly 2 years since then.
  2. Weeelll ... ... when you weigh in at the bariatric surgeon's office, you could stick some half-pound weights in your bra, pockets, shoes, underwear to make sure your BMI is at least 35. And if you want to go whole-hog you could wear weight belts layered under your clothes. (Just sayin!) I was covered by Medicare at 39 BMI (without any weight belts ) with 3 comorbidities at age 68. What YOUR insurance company will cover depends solely on your insurance company's guidelines and the terms of YOUR insurance policy. Good luck. P.S. I'm 5'5", started at 235 pounds, have lost 100 pounds, and now weigh 100 pounds. The sleeve was my first WLS. I didn't have fatty liver issues.

    Odd Jittery Feeling..

Protein is good. Carbs are also good. So are fats. And other things, if there are any other things. P.S. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Glad you figured it out.

    Ugh annoyed

Well, that's one helluva weight loss! Congrats.

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

Jamie, I would SO move out. And the sooner the better. You have more options than you think, including house sitting. I say this based on what I've seen happen with people who never imagined, pre-breakup, that they would instigate or be on the receiving end of physical violence -- or worse. No one ever believes it will happen to them. No one.

    Is it just me.....?

You want to do it "the easy way"? Do what I did: I didn't tell anyone but my hubby about my WLS -- not my family, workmates, friends, acquaintances, or random strangers. Consequently, nobody has ever discouraged me or irritated me or infuriated me by sharing their ignorance about WLS with me. And I haven't been charged with physical assault.
  7. @@CowgirlJane ... even on my computer screen you are memorable.

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

Lord, I hope you guys aren't going to be living together much longer. This is hard duty for you both. And not altogether a safe situation for you. Just sayin'.

    Pray to resist overeating

LOL! If that's all it took I'd never have needed weight loss surgery!

    The great straw debate!

So there's a whole generation gone to hell then!

    Crossing the Dunes

Two years ago, I was you, @@JoeVegas -- 68 years old and nearly immobilized. Today at 70, I weigh 135 pounds and believe I could physically perform again any activity or sport it occurred to me to attempt. Mostly, I can live my life -- care for myself, clean my house, garden and mow my lawn, trim trees, shop 'til I drop, care for my loved ones, use any mode of transportation to travel anywhere in the world. Have faith in a brighter future. Better yet, start living that future now in small ways. Today can be better, too.
  15. To the OP -- When you attend a WLS introductory lecture, typically 3 hours long and conducted by bariatric surgeons, you will learn a lot more about the permanence of weight loss surgery and the changes WLS requires for the rest of your life to maintain weight loss. WLS will help you lose weight. And although it continues to be a tool that supports weight maintenance, you can gain all your weight back if you go back to the way you were eating / living before. The right questions to ask yourself are: What lifestyle led you to weigh 200 pounds, and what different lifestyle will you lead post-surgery? Best to you.

    The great straw debate!

Grasping a cup of coffee here and happy to know such fun folks. And you, Miss @@CHM , have put forth an excellent physics explanation of straw-induced air-ingestion worthy of "The Big Bang" crew. Ausgezeichnet!

Really happy for all of you who've quit smoking. Such a good thing!

    Pain Scale

Very little surgical pain. Really. Took only two doses of hydrocodone first day back home (spent only one night in hospital). Simply didn't need it.
  21. But in a pinch some of the Healthy Choice "Simply" Cafe Steamer frozen foods (in your grocery store) aren't bad. E.g., chicken Broccoli Alfredo: Calories - 190 Protein gms - 27 Total carbs - 8 Fat - 5 Sodium - 600 mg (Hey, they gotta stick some preservatives in it ) But I'll guarantee you won't be able to finish it early on. I'm 21+ months post-op, and I couldn't finish one I had for dinner last week.
  22. Guys, I can't find my scars anymore. Not even two years out. Y'all need to find something else to worry about.
