Your dream outfit
VSGAnn2014 replied to bobbyswife's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
White skinny jeans (for me, too) Sleeveless little black dress (will probably never happen without plastic surgery) Black just-below-the-knee boots (I, too, have Fatland calves) Anything in St. John. Anything. At all. -
Nobody could have fixed me. I had to fix me.

Yeah, drinking Water is NOT a good idea. Does NOT solve the problem. -
Following the rules
VSGAnn2014 replied to Unhappysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, this all sounds pretty familiar, doesn't it? I'm bored. I don't want to follow any rules. This is too much trouble. I want to do what I feel like doing at the moment. ... How'd that work out for all of us before WLS? If we want the same results we had before, I think we can just go ahead and do the same things we did before. -
There's nothing wrong with you. You're just trying to learn how to do something new. The great news is that you have a safe place to go practice meeting people again (at your friend's neighborhood bar). And way cool that he is looking after you so well. It actually seems like a pretty ideal situation in which you can get back on the horse. And BTW, I wouldn't make it a goal to find someone to date in a bar -- but just to practice meeting people you don't know yet. You don't need to put so much pressure on yourself -- it's just conversations.

What an astonishing difference in your appearance. And your post is completely inspiring. This journey is never over, is it? It just keeps going. WLS, weight loss and maintenance just seems to be a never-ending bit of yoga that teaches us so many more lessons than the ones about body size. I'm so grateful for my sleeve and these endless opportunities to learn about life.

Fun thread. And really healthy thought process went into the purchase. Loved it, @katesuccess.

VSGAnn2014 replied to Get.Waisted's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad you started this thread, @@Get.Waisted. I learned a lot -- and appreciate everyone's comments. Thanks to all (including @@McButterpants about possible new challenges around 5-7 months out). -
I want to punch things!
VSGAnn2014 replied to MrsMurky721's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you vented. I also found the pre-op easier (shakes / Lean Cuisine the first week; just shakes second week) a lot easier after Day Three. BW, that is one helluva an interesting job you've got there for someone who's about to be a WLS patient. -
Yes. No interactions between those two meds. As others said above, the dulcolax was prescribed to get your "system" moving because codeine is a constipating drug.

4 post op Vsg and need help!
VSGAnn2014 replied to Beanz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Little known fact: Ghrelin (the hunger hormone produced mostly by the portion of your stomach that was removed during VSG surgery) is also the hormone that prompts you / your body to drink when it is thirsty. But without ghrelin (your body isn't producing much/any right now) you won't feel that you're thirsty. So you have to force yourself to drink. Maybe that will help a little .... -
I don't know. But I think that would be a great question to explore with a good counselor.

Squats -- breathing squats -- squats with heavy weights ... Word of caution: Squats can ruin your knees. I speak from considerable experience. With some of the world's best bodybuilding coaches. Still ruined.

You should definitely check with your bariatric surgeon's office. My surgeon says I can take ibuprofen / NSAIDs intermittently, but definitely NOT daily.

To be in society or to be antisocial? That is the question. The answer is: Be in society. Accommodating a few people whom those who love us also love is not the most difficult thing in the world. To do otherwise is just weird.

Does a gym REALLY make a difference vs working out at home?
VSGAnn2014 replied to mi75's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Right now, I walk with my trainer (the dog) -- right out the front door, over hill and dale (we live i the country. AND when it's raining or too cold, I use the home treadmill and the home NuStep machine. AND three times a week I go to Water aerobics class and splash around like a four-year-old. Love it! Eventually, I've got to hit the weights. Eventually .... -
How Did You Do Thanksgiving Day? Share Your Story
VSGAnn2014 replied to Dr-Patient's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yesterday we drove to a posh hotel for a Thanksgiving staycation. Breakfast - coffee / skim milk; Protein shake lunch - assorted cheeses, Water crackers, chutney, chocolate covered strawberries dinner - grilled salmon, butter/lemon sauce, grilled green Beans, fingerling potatoes Protein - 73 grams Carbs - 75 grams Fats - 50 grams !!!!! Calories - 1,024 Definitely not my typical 14 weeks pre-op menu. But I enjoyed every single bite. What's more, the portions were all small or appropriate, and I felt completely in control. :) -

Ummm ... mine, too. And I think I know where it went. I spent the last three years sitting on it. And beneath all that accumulating ass fat, it shrunk.

5 months out...tortoise or the hare?
VSGAnn2014 replied to ItsMeAgain's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I read threads like this I wonder if most WLS patients are just math-challenged. 63 pounds in 6 months (the loss rate for someone above who says she's a "fast loser") = 2.4 pounds/week 75 pounds in 7 months (the loss rate for someone above who says she's losing "slower than most") = 2.5 pounds/week So although Jane and Jill are losing at the same rate, one of them thinks she's losing fast and the other thinks she's losing slowly. Who's right? Does it even matter? P.S. My own weight loss of 34 pounds after 14 weeks post-op = 2.5 pounds/week.
